Apartment 1303 is the American remake of a Japanese Horror film of the same name and tells the story of two sisters moving into an apartment inhabited by a vengeful spirit.
Like a bunch of remakes, this one is devoid of thrills, chills, suspense or substance and falls flat like the supposed unfortunate victims that fall from the apartment in this film.
The great set up is all there but the film soon descends into poor form showcasing clichés we have seen time and time again, presenting paper-thin characters that muster up little sympathy and has a script that I was hoping would be a good creepy time but winds up being lacklustre and painfully dull.
For me, Director Michael Taverna – who also wrote the screenplay here – wasn’t effective enough in crafting the required scares and doesn’t seem to have an understanding...

Apartment 1303 3D is already available on VOD, but it’s getting a limited theatrical release this weekend and we have three new clips from the movie.
“Having grown up under the controlling grip of her fame-hungry mother (Rebecca De Mornay), Janet Slate (Julianne Michelle) jumps at the opportunity to move into what looks to be a great high-rise apartment in downtown Detroit. Yet some deals are too good to be true as one night her boyfriend Mark (Corey Sevier) finds her in the middle of the street – having fallen from the balcony thirteen stories above. When her sister Lara (Mischa Barton) tries to investigate the mystery of what happened, she moves into the same apartment and encounters the odd neighbors in the building, including an eerie nine-year old girl who seems to somehow know the real reason for Janet’s fall. Struggling to find your place in society, and achieve personal freedom from an overbearing parent who only thinks about themselves, are powerful incentives to drive vulnerable young adults to become susceptible to evil entities and influences. Actress Julianne Michelle explores how the character’s questioning of the unknown lurking in her new apartment, which is supposed to offer her solace from her family, can actually cause more harm than she ever expected. Director: Michael Taverna. Review: Adam Wing. Arriving approximately fifteen years too late, Apartment 1303 is a terrifying shocker based on the highly acclaimed (that’s what it says here) J-horror film of the same name. I say terrifying but what I really mean is terrifyingly bad. I say shocker but what I really mean is shocking. Starring Mischa Barton (The Oc, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand that Rocks the Cradle) and Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Apartment 1303 is released through Koch Media this June, available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD. I was starting to think the curse of the J-horror remake had passed, but this 2012 offering is further proof that you can’t keep a dead girl down. Hollywood will continue to raid the vaults of Asian cinema over the next few years, with remakes of Oldboy and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance looking most likely to offend,...

Night of the Living Dead, Scream and The Blair Witch Project are three horror films that completely shook up the genre, and by extension, cinema itself, proving that cheap genre flicks aren.t always just that. Deadline reports Gravitas Ventures and MonteCristo International have secured the theatrical and digital rights to Apartment 1303 3D, which is based on the Japanese novel by author Kei Oishi, which was itself already remade into a middling J-Horror film. What makes this particular film so special is that it will be the first independent film that can be watched in 3D at home, bringing digital platforms that much closer to their physical counterparts. Not that there are tons of indie...
