Charter member of the Rodeo Hall of Fame of the Rodeo Historical Society (a support group of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum) in 1955.
Won six world championships in Saddle Bronc riding, two All-Around Cowboy championships, and one Bareback Riding championship.
1951 & 1955 world all-around champion; 1949, 1951-1954 & 1959 world saddle bronc riding champion; 1951 world bareback bronc riding champion.
He was featured on the October 22, 1951, cover of Life magazine.
The Casey Tibbs Foundation runs the South Dakota Rodeo Museum in Fort Pierre, South Dakota.
Although not listed in the cast of "Bus Stop," an announcer does announce his name as he participates in the rodeo in the movie.
