In reading for Miramax, I read all types. For the professional or good scripts, while they aren't perfect, they await the right principals to become films. The amateur scripts or the ones that aren't as good do tend to make the same mistakes. I see them over and over again. After forty, eighty times, you start seeing patterns. I realized that some of these people were talented but they make similar mistakes. Maybe they are starting with the wrong assumptions, maybe they don't understand what a screenplay really is or how it functions.
