Stormy Daniels is expected to take the stand Tuesday at Donald Trump’s ongoing criminal hush-money trial, and even the former president seemed caught off guard by the news.
Trump posted — then quickly deleted — a furious rant about the prosecution’s plan to call Daniels shortly before The Associated Press reported on it ahead of Tuesday’s proceedings.
“I have just recently been told who the witness is today. This is unprecedented, no time for lawyers to prepare,” the former president wrote. “No Judge has ever run a trial in...

Update: Stormy Daniels is scheduled to testify today in Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York.
One of Trump’s attorneys, Susan Necheles, confirmed in court that Daniels will be the second witness called by prosecution. Necheles objected to Daniels testimony, “in particular to her testifying about any details about sexual acts.”
“There is really no reason for it to be coming into a case about books and records,” she argued.
Daniels, the former porn actress, claimed that she had sex with Trump in 2006, something he has denied. The trial centers on a $130,000 hush money payment to her in advance of the 2016 presidential election. Prosecutors contend that Trump falsified business records to conceal the payment.
One of the prosecutors, Susan Hoffinger, said that Daniels’ testimony “completes the narrative of the story…The details are important..And it’s important for us to establish her credibllity.”

Yikes! We definitely didn’t see this coming. Melania Trump has been thrown under the bus by her former assistant, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, when she revealed text messages that were sent to her back in 2016. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Melania Trump – Thrown Under The Bus By Her Former Assistant
Apparently, Melania Trump really didn’t think much of the cheating allegations that were brought on by an adult film star, who says that she had a relationship with Donald Trump back in 2005. This was the same year that Melania had just given birth to their son, Barron.
Stephanie says that she was worried sick about Melania and the rumors, but the former model didn’t seem to be too worried. Instead, she just wanted to have lunch and talk about normal day to day stuff.
Stephanie even said on X, “It’s an unconventional marriage & she’s complicit.

Missed Tuesday’s late-night monologues? We’ve got you covered with our round-up of the night’s best laughs from across the dial.
We All Get 10 Practice Contempt Charges, Right?
As admirably as Judge Juan Merchan has scoffed at Donald Trump’s legal team and its increasingly ridiculous and sweaty excuses for their client’s flagrant flouting of the gag order against him, the fact that Trump was issued his tenth contempt of court judgement on Monday for attacking the jurors and officers of the court in his criminal trial had late-night hosts looking for new ways to express their incredulity. With the judge putting it in writing that the next violation will quite probably mean jail time for Trump, at least that mental picture seemed to jazz up the hosts, with Jimmy Kimmel looking eagerly forward to the inevitable, noting, “It’s like trying to get a dog to stop licking itself.

On Sunday, Ivanka Trump was spotted in Mexico at a friend’s wedding with husband Jared Kushner. The daughter of former President Donald Trump posed for a photograph with Kushner wearing a glamorous floor-length strapless red dress with a plunging neckline. Kushner wore a sophisticated black tuxedo.
Ivanka has taken a break from politics. The couple has chosen to focus on their private life rather than the election this year. While Trump endures numerous legal actions, including his current court case for paying Stormy Daniels hush-money, the Trump women haven’t been seen in the courtrooms with the former president.

Updated, 3:04 Pm: The judge in Donald Trump’s hush-money trial hasn’t tossed the ex-president behind bars yet for violating a gag order, but the former Celebrity Apprentice host won’t be getting out of the courtroom anytime soon either.
On a dry day in front of Judge Juan Merchan, the jury on Monday saw prosecutors put another Trump Organization accounting employee on the stand in the start of the third week of Trump’s trial to walk jurors through the gritty details and record-keeping behind checks signed by the Art of the Deal author to his fixer and lawyer Michael Cohen.

While Joe Biden and Donald Trump have kept their in-person campaigning to a minimum so far this election cycle, third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has done everything he can do steal the spotlight, holding event after event with celebrity supporters. Now he can add another to the roster: actor Kevin Spacey.
Spacey, who faced more than a dozen accusations of sexual misconduct or assault since the #MeToo movement gripped the culture in 2017, appeared to indicate in a tweet on Monday that Kennedy had been there for him at his lowest.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) said that the FBI is investigating a possible hacking of his phone by someone impersonating Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
“My phone is in the hands of the FBI now,” Graham said. “I got a message, I think, from Schumer, but it wasn’t from Schumer. The next thing you know, my phone’s… I don’t know what. Anything you can create, apparently, can be hacked.”
The Senate Sergeant At Arms, who manages cybersecurity for the chamber, delivered an advisory warning to Senate offices regarding the phishing scheme effort.

Schumer is famous for using a flip phone and preferring calling over texting. Similar hacking attempts were reported on other Senate staff last week.

A judge again found Donald Trump in contempt of court for violations of a partial gag order.
Trump was fined $1,000 over a statement he made attacking the jury in the case.
Read the latest Trump contempt order.
The judge in Trump’s hush money case, Juan Merchan, also warned the former president of possible jail time.
“The last thing I want to do is put you in jail,” Merchan said. “You are the former president of the United States and possibly the next president as well.”
To jail him, Merchan said, “would be disruptive to the proceedings,” adding that it would pose a challenge as well for the Secret Service.
“The magnitude of such a decision is not lost on me,” the judge said. “But at the end of the day, I have a job to do.” He told Trump that his “continued, willful violations” of the gag order “constitute...

She’s doing whatever she can to protect her child. There’s strong speculation on social media that suggests Melania Trump is doing whatever she can to keep her son Barron Trump away from New York City. And she’s got a good reason behind it, too. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Melania Trump Doesn’t Want Barron Trump In New York City For This Reason
As many of his critics know by now, Donald Trump is currently trying to convince everyone of his innocence in his historic hush money criminal trial. The former president is being accused of paying off an adult film star to keep quiet about the affair that they supposedly had back in 2005.
While this all went down in 2016, Donald Trump’s court case has only begun this past month, which means Melania is having to deal with the humiliation all over again.

Jeffrey Katzenberg is a man known for choosing his words very carefully most of the time, and tonight the WndrCo boss was pretty candid when it came to Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
“I’ve known Donald Trump for 50 years,” Katzenberg told a well-heeled West Hollywood crowd on Sunday of first meeting the former president and 2024 GOP de facto nominee via his father back in the 1970s. “The only thing I can say is he was a colossal asshole then and nothing has really changed.”

Even by his extreme rhetorical standard, Donald Trump has ramped up his criticism of his opponent, Joe Biden in recent weeks. Trump recently declared that Jimmy Carter’s presidency was “brilliant” in comparison to Biden‘s, calling him, for good measure, the “worst president” in American history.
While speaking to reporters outside a bodega in Harlem, New York, where a clerk stabbed an ex-convict in self-defense in 2022, Trump shared these remarks.
“Biden is the worst president in the history of our country,” Trump said. He went on to say that Biden is “worse than Jimmy Carter by a long shot.”
Trump suggested that Carter would perceive his presidency positively when considering the current president’s performance.
Days before Trump paid tribute to Carter’s late wife, Rosalynn Carter, he made similar remarks about Biden and Carter during a rally in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on November 18, 2023.
“[Biden is] incompetent,” he said at the time.

More essays have been written about "Citizen Kane" than any other movie (with the possible exceptions of "The Wizard of Oz" and "Star Wars"), so it feels churlish to recount the plot here, but for the uninitiated, however, here's a brief rundown:
A vicious newspaper tycoon named Charles Foster Kane (Welles) has died in bed, locked deep in his massive, palatial mansion. He clutched a snow globe in his hand in his final moments, moved by the sight of the swirling faux weather inside. He enigmatically whispers the word "Rosebud" before perishing. The film then shifts focus to a reporter (William Alland) who spends the film interviewing Kane's associates, wives, and lovers, hoping to get a full portrait of the man. He finds that Kane was a cad ruined by wealth and power. He finds that Kane was possessed of a deep and abiding unhappiness, likely spurred by having to...

A special committee of Paramount’s board of directors decided over the weekend to formally open negotiations with Sony Pictures Entertainment and private equity group Apollo Global Management, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. The decision follows an exclusive negotiation period between Paramount and Skydance ending Friday with no deal made.

Former White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews said she would not vote for her former boss, Donald Trump, because she feels he will not uphold the U.S. Constitution if he is reelected.
Matthews made these comments during an interview on MSNBC’s Inside with Jen Psaki.
“What goes through your head when you see people who clearly know better defending Trump, as they just did,” Psaki asked the former White House deputy press secretary.
“Yeah, it’s really frustrating ’cause, as you noted, some of the things they’ve said publicly about Donald Trump are horrible, and then they’re going on and endorsing him,” Matthews responded.
“So, I can only imagine the things that they say privately,” she added. “I’ve talked with a lot of Republicans, high-up elected officials, and things like that, who will bash him privately, but many of them will not even say it publicly.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum accused Joe Biden of “vote-buying going on at a scale like we have never seen before” because the president has forgiven student loan debt for nearly four million Americans.

In a Truth Social post the following morning, Trump attacked Biden as “a very dishonest man, a Manchurian Candidate” and predicted “World War Three, and everything else!”

At this point it really doesn’t matter what he’ll say or what he will do as she will find a reason to be upset about it one way or another. There’s heavy speculation on social media that Melania Trump has been left angered over Donald Trump’s latest complaints once again.
The former president complained so much that he missed out on his wife Melania’s birthday, he’s now allowed to attend his son Barron Trump’s high school graduation next month. But that might not be exactly what Melania wants to hear right now. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Here’s a little observation, bordering on an axiom, which has slowly developed over the years—as in, approximately half a century:
When Saturday Night Live returns from a hiatus, the first show back struggles to find both its rhythm and sketches that are well conceived and consistently funny.
SNL’s return last night carried with it a special challenge, because the last show before the break, hosted by Ryan Gosling, was arguably the funniest of the season, with one sketch, the Beavis and Butthead unaware look-a-likes, now the most-viewed clip of the current season.
And so, when the cold open tiptoed into risky territory, trying to find a way to get laughs out of the divisive and decidedly unfunny protests against the war in Gaza, a familiar sense of “oh it’s that hiatus issue” set in.
It even seemed as though the writers were sending a signal about...

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update addressed Donald Trump’s courtroom appearances during his criminal trial in New York, as well as Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s admission in her forthcoming memoir that she shot and killed her puppy.

A committee of bankruptcy creditors found out that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani spent nearly $120,000 in January after he agreed to abide by a $43,000 budget.
On December 21, 2023, Giuliani declared bankruptcy six days after a jury in Washington, D.C., ordered him to pay $148 million to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, the two Georgia election workers whom he falsely accused of stealing the 2020 presidential election from his client Donald Trump.
Judge Beryl A. Howell said she was concerned that Giuliani would try to conceal his assets.
The budget Giuliani promised to adhere to was drawn from funds from Social Security and retirement accounts.
His committee of bankruptcy creditors told a bankruptcy judge, who controls his spending that they will not let the former New York City mayor drive his creditors “off a cliff.”
“Unfortunately, the committee is not surprised by the Debtor’s failure to file complete and accurate financial disclosures,” they stated in a court filing.

At a comedy show as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest on Friday, Jon Stewart went deep on Joe Biden, antisemitism and the idea of “go woke and go broke.”
Stewart headlined at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles for his “Jon Stewart and Friends” show, which saw him bring out Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman and Mike Birbiglia as his special guests.
Starting things off with the upcoming presidential election, Stewart questioned, “Why are we allowing this? And now we’re going to have a president that’s [one of] the two oldest people that have ever run for the office of the presidency,” with Biden and Donald Trump breaking the record that they themselves set four years ago.
“I know liberals say, ‘Don’t say Joe Biden is old’ — don’t say what people see with their own eyes! You can say it, he can’t hear us,” he joked.

On Friday, former White House press secretary and director of communications Hope Hicks delivered a powerful testimony against former President Donald Trump. On the third week of Trump’s Manhattan hush-money trial, Hicks became a key witness. The announcement of Hicks’ appearance stirred a whispers in the courtroom.
Hicks, 35, sat in the witness box and kept her eyes away from Trump. Not once did she look at her former boss, and she went into detail about his numerous scandals. Trump himself appeared indifferent during Hicks’ testimony, though the former president was seen whispering to his lawyer Todd Blanche.
Hicks was visibly nervous on the stand but still delivered a concise, three-hour testimony. She spoke positively about her career in the White House, praising the Trump family, before moving into Trump’s legal issues. Hicks discussed Trump’s infamous Access Hollywood clip where he talked about grabbing women’s genitals and the Stormy Daniels hush-money situation.

Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and front man for the Who Roger Daltrey has a solo North American tour on June 10. So he stopped by Bill Maher’s Real Time on Friday to do some reminiscing on his long career and what comes next.
After thanking Daltrey “for all the entertainment over the years,” Maher got right to the point: “I don’t remember seeing you with a shirt,” he said, offering a brief montage of Daltrey in his prime, sans shirt.
“A little bit too much information,” Daltrey said, and then admitted, “I get incredibly hot when I sing. It’s like a furnace.” Still, he allowed, at 80 years old, he’s more likely to keep the shirt on this time around.

Donald Trump has dismissed recent media reports that say he fell asleep in his ongoing trial about the hush money payments in New York. Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, in a recess in the Manhattan Supreme Court trial to address the claims.
“Contrary to the Fake News Media, I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today,” he wrote.
He continued, “I simply close my beautiful blue eyes, sometimes, listen intensely, and take it All in!!!”
After the post, online critics rushed to social media to mock his praise of his eye color.
Earlier, Trump’s campaign had vehemently criticized multiple reporters, such as Maggie Haberman from The New York Times, who observed Trump seemingly doze off on the first day of jury selection. Throughout the trial, which entered its tenth day on Thursday, there have been several instances...

After his years-long litany of protestations against Donald Trump, Oscar-winner Robert De Niro tried to be more measured, but even more urgent, in his criticism of the former president this week. In an interview with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC’s The 11th Hour, the actor said, “I’m tired of calling him names…He is really, genuinely a sick person.”
Asked by Ruhle if he would ever play Trump onscreen, De Niro nearly cut off the question he was so quick to answer, “Never. There’s nothing about him — there’s not one redeeming thing in him that I can see.”

A business mogul finds himself on the cusp of bankruptcy just after his big, glamorous 60th birthday party. Adapted from Tom Wolfe’s much-celebrated novel, Regina King’s limited series A Man in Full is a bummer. Set in Atlanta, Georgia, the series never takes itself seriously until the closing moments. Former President Donald Trump stated that, if he becomes president again, then he would consider pardoning all the convicted Jan. 6 Capitol rioters on a “case-by-case” basis.
“You have called the men and women who have been prosecuted for their actions on Jan. 6 ‘hostages’ and ‘political prisoners,'” the Time journalist asked Trump. “More than 800 of these people have been sentenced through our judicial system, most of whom pleaded guilty. Some of them have been convicted by juries. You’ve said you will pardon them. Are you calling into question the conclusions of the justice system in more than 800 cases?”
“It’s a two-tier system,” the former president declared. “Because when I look at Portland, when I look at Minneapolis, where they took over police precincts and everything else, and went after federal buildings when I look at other situations that were violent, and where people were killed, nothing happened to them.

The interview in question took place on January 30, 2018, following the State of the Union. In it, Kimmel brought up a letter Daniels had allegedly signed denying she had an affair with Trump, pressing Daniels on whether the signature was authentic.

The Defense Rests
After a day off, Donald Trump’s election fraud/hush money trial was back in session on Thursday. That meant plenty more ammo for late-night hosts, especially since Trumps’ presence in the New York courtroom entails everything from tiny crowds of supporters (literally one lady showed up today), frequent in-session naps, and the occasional toilet humor-derived insulting nickname read out in front of a helplessly scowling (or snoring) Trump.
It’s no secret at this point that all the major hosts are no fans of the former President/current defendant, with Stephen Colbert going out of his way to contrast a lovely May day with his frequent target’s daily legal routine. “It was a beautiful Spring day here in New York City. 10 out...

Prosecutors Play Recording Of Donald Trump And Michael Cohen Discussing Hush Money Payments — Update
Update: Jurors today heard a recording in which Donald Trump and his then-lawyer and “fixer,” Michael Cohen, discuss payments to Karen McDougal, the former Playboy model who claimed to have had an affair with The Apprentice host.
The recording was made by Cohen in September of 2016 — and first reported on by CNN in 2018. In it, Trump and Cohen discussed buying the rights to McDougal’s story.
“I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend David,” Cohen said, referring to David Pecker, then-ceo of American Media, the tabloid publisher that bought McDougal’s story for $150,000 with the intention of burying it.

Actor Jason Bateman, one of the podcast’s hosts, asked Obama if he was surprised “how quickly that protection and passion for democracy was diluted” and “how primed the country was to just sort of dissolve and – and get lazy with it and let it go.”
“You know, I will say – and Bill saw this begin to happen during his presidency – it then accelerated during my presidency – I have been surprised that there haven’t been guard rails inside the Republican Party,” Obama replied.
“Trump didn’t surprise me, no,” he added. “You watch Trump’s campaign, you watch his career. If you know anybody who’s a—I mean, he comes from New York, there’s nobody in...
