Around the time Slash parted ways with Guns N’ Roses, he got deep into the blues and soul music. With a group called Slash’s Blues Ball, he reinterpreted the music of Robert Johnson, Willie Dixon, and Stevie Wonder, among others, at gigs between 1996 and 1998. Now — nearly three decades later — the guitarist, who returned to Gn’R in 2016, is recommitting himself to that group’s repertoire on Orgy of the Damned, a new solo album due out May 17, which finds him trading licks with many of his famous friends.

It’s almost time for Claudia Winkleman to return to her cool, damp burrow, where she’ll remain, out of sight, for the remaining winter months. When her twitching nose smells summer, Winkleman will emerge refreshed, gorge on a pawful of hazelnuts from the forest floor to nourish her glossy coat, and begin the long journey to Scotland to film a third series of The Traitors.
That’s ridiculous, sorry. Claudia Winkleman isn’t a forest creature; she’s a human person, equal parts knitwear and eyeliner. Her oversized jumpers aren’t self-woven in an underground den; she buys them. From monks. Who knit them out of rainclouds and sin.
Apologies. Again. It’s hard not to tip into fantasy when it comes to Claudia Winkleman, because as a creation she is fantastical. A kohl-rimmed alien. She’s funny and weird and distinctive, with a way of speaking that’s...

Seymour Stein, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member who was the co-founder of Sire Records, the former vice president at Warner Bros. Records and, many years ago, began his storied career in the music industry at The Hollywood Reporter sister publication Billboard, has died.
His daughter, filmmaker Mandy Stein, told THR that her father died Sunday morning in Los Angeles from cancer.
Stein signed such music legends as Madonna and The Ramones at Sire. But when he was just a teenager, he began working as an assistant to Tommy Noonan, then head of charts at Billboard, where Stein sat in on meetings to decide which new records to review and helped to compile the then just-launched Hot 100.
“I was just 16, working at Billboard after school. From the time I was 9 years old, I knew I wanted to be in the music business,” he said in an interview published...

Eminem spoke candidly about his 2007 overdose again as he took the stage while being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday.
The rapper recently admitted it took a while for his brain to start working again after the near-fatal prescription pill Od.
He then said over the weekend, “I realize what an honour it is right now to be here up here tonight, and what a privilege it is to do the music that I love,” according to the Daily Mail.

Slim Shady continued, “Music basically saved my life… I’ll keep this as painless as possible, I’m f**king stuttering and s**t. I’m probably not supposed to actually be here tonight because of a couple of reasons.
“I almost died from an overdose in 2007, which kind of sucked.

Everyone knows that Super Bowl ads draw in just as many viewers, if not more, than the big game itself, so it comes as no surprise that Super Bowl “ad events” get their own teaser trailers now ahead of February 7th.
On Monday, Uber Eats unveiled the teaser for their Wayne’s World reunion ad, where Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reprise their roles as Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar from the Saturday Night Live sketch series and 1992 hit film.

Orchestras are indie rock’s new Marshall stacks. That’s fitting on a lot of levels — as a satisfying class-action appropriation of elitist cultural tropes, as a deconstruction of those same tropes, and as an elevation of collectivism over American myths of individualism and exceptionalism that’ve lately been twisted into such ugly shapes. Also: done right, orchestrations just sound dope. There’s plenty of ‘em done right on Angel Olsen’s latest, All Mirrors, her best record yet in an excellent ouevre, giving her goth-folk drama queen tendencies room to roam far and wide.
