Brunette leading actress of the silent screen, with extensive stage experience. First in films with Biograph and Selig Polyscope. Brought west by Cecil B. DeMille, she became the first leading lady at Famous Players-Lasky in 1914. Well into middle age and rather matronly in appearance, she was deemed unsuitable for romantic leads by the mid-20's and subsequently confined to supporting roles.
