Joe Carnahan’s Narc opens in a frenzy, as a narcotics detective, Nick Tellis (Jason Patric), chases a drug dealer through the streets of Detroit on foot. There are echoes here of the foot chase that unspools midway through Kathyrn Bigelow’s Point Break, with these men bashing forth in and out of houses, over fences, through playgrounds, their collision with endless variables driving up anxiety. Narc’s images aren’t as polished as that film’s, partially by necessity, partially by design, as Tellis’s improvisations to get his perp mirror those of Carnahan, who’s fashioning a high-voltage set piece on the fly, an upstart filmmaker balling on a budget. It’s a hell of an opening, establishing Narc’s tortured atmosphere and fractured aesthetic, with shaky, chilly images cut and reassembled (by editor John Gilroy) into shards that suggest policework to be a roaring inferno.

George A. Romero brought the world the first flesh-eating zombies in the 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead, then followed that up with Dawn of the Dead in 1978 and Day of the Dead in 1985. He was hoping to get another Dead movie made in the ’90s, but wasn’t able to get it into production until the next decade – resulting in the 2005 release Land of the Dead (watch it Here). And with the new episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?, we’re digging into the story of the making of Romero’s long-awaited fourth Dead movie. Check it out in the embed above!
Written and directed by Romero, Land of the Dead had the following synopsis: In a world where zombies form the majority of the population, the remaining humans build a feudal society away from the undead. Ruthless Paul Kaufman rules and protects this microcosm but enforces painful class distinctions.

It's been three years since Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunters ended its run on Freeform.
The show followed Clary Fray as she discovered that she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids that hunt demons called Shadowhuinters.
Since the show's been off the air for three years, we thought we'd look at what the leads have done since the show's end!
Alan Van Sprang -- Valentine Morgenstern
Throughout the first two seasons, Valentine proved to be an intriguing villain, and Clary killed him more than once during his 28-episode run.
Alan Van Sprang brought his skills to the role and has moved on to have other recurring roles in different series since.
He portrayed Section 31 agent Leland during Season Two of Star Trek: Discovery and Chief detective Keith Alper during seasons two and three of In The Dark.
While there doesn't seem to be anything upcoming, we know we'll see...

Star Trek will be well-represented at this week’s Comic-Con@Home virtual event as all three contemporary Trek shows will be getting back-to-back panels this Thursday, July 23rd. And earlier today, CBS All Access released a short teaser trailer for what’s to come in these panels, which will be studded with stars from across the series.
The three panels to look forward to cover Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Picard (in that order). All three panels will be hosted by Deadline’s Dominic Patten. The Discovery panel will feature a virtual table read of the season 2 finale, “Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2,” to remind us where we left the characters before we head into season 3. The Lower Decks panel, meanwhile, will debut an exclusive clip ahead of its premiere next month.

This year’s virtual Comic-Con@Home has announced its schedule for Thursday, July 23. The highlights are below.

In June, Comic-Con International — the non-profit organization that oversees Sdcc and its sister event, WonderCon in Anaheim, Calif. — announced it was moving forward with the virtual event on the same dates. This time, however, the event is free and open to all.
Thursday’s events include major panels for a shows from HBO (“His Dark Materials”), Amazon Prime Video (“The Boys”) and CBS All Access (“Star Trek: Picard”).
The Comic-Con@Home schedule — starting with Wednesday, July 22 — is being announced daily through Sunday.
All times are Pacific Daylight.

Exclusive: After the Hall H triumphant of 2019, Jean-Luc Picard will be back in the Comic-Con house again this year. However, due to concerns and restrictions over the coronavirus pandemic, the Sir Patrick Stewart-led CBS All Access series will be making its appearance remotely at this year’s Comic-Con@Home on July 23.
Comic-Con will be releasing another part of its schedule later today, but, setting phasers to shock and awe, Star Trek: Picard will be the headliner in another behemoth Star Trek Universe panel later this month. That sprawling Trekverse shindig also includes 2020 virtual appearances from Star Trek: Discovery, the lead cast of newest franchise addition Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and the August 6th premiering animated Star Trek: Lower Decks.

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 2 Episode 14, “Such Sweet Sorry, Part 2.”]
Many words could be used to describe the Season 2 finale of “Star Trek: Discovery.” One of them is not “quiet.” Picking up after last week’s cliffhanger ending, writers Michelle Paradise, Jenny Lumet, and Alex Kurtzman, along with director Olatunde Osunsanmi, pack the episode with intense action, as the crews of the Enterprise and Discovery work together (with the help of some surprise friends) to keep a massive stockpile of data away from the evil artificial intelligence known as Control (personified by Alan van Sprang).
From the frantic assembly of Burnham’s (Sonequa Martin-Green) time suit, to the epic space battle between the Enterprise, Discovery, and Control’s ships, to the impressive hand-to-hand, gravity-challenged fight between Control, Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh), and security officer Commander Nhan (Rachael Ancheril), there’s plenty of excitement packed into the episode, all topped off by “Discovery...

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 2 Episode 8, “If Memory Serves.”]
The latest episode of “Star Trek: Discovery” begins with a choice that for “Trek” fans might be considered mindblowing: a “previously on ‘Star Trek'” sequence using footage that is 55 years old, and featuring long-deceased people playing roles now ceded to new actors.
Yes, to set up the events leading up to “If Memory Serves,” “Discovery” chose to use a minute of clips from “Star Trek: The Original Series” featuring Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike and Leonard Nimoy as Lieutenant Spock, during their first encounter with the mind-bending aliens of Talos IV. The sequence then leads into the episode proper, with these same characters now played by Anson Mount and Ethan Peck as they re-encounter these strange and mysterious beings — as well as the human-looking Vina, with whom Pike made a connection during his first trip to that planet.

Can Shadowhunters come back from its disappointing first episode? Here's our review of The Mortal Instruments TV opener...
This review contains spoilers.
1.1 The Mortal Cup
Lots of pilot episodes seem a bit clunky. They’ve got a fair amount of setting up to do, after all – the first episode of anything needs to introduce its audience to a setting, to characters, and, if the show’s got any kind of sci-fi or fantasy element, to the rules of its universe. So sometimes you get a bit more telling than showing, and some on-the-nose dialogue. That’s generally forgivable. But in the case of Shadowhunters, its first episode was so awkward it might be hard to come back from it.
To give it its due, it gets the first part out of the way quickly and fairly elegantly. The opening sequence establishes that this is a magical world...
