During a trip to Hollywood with her father, she sang one of her compositions for Larry Crosby, who asked her to return the next day so that Bing could hear it. He decided to record the song, "Lone Star Trail". Other hits she wrote include "You Don't Know Me", "Dream Baby", and the Gene Autry hit, "Silver Spurs".
