Signature Theatre, one of Off Broadway’s premiere companies, has named Meghan Lantzy as its new general manager. She arrives at the Signature from Lincoln Center Theater, where she worked for 12 years.
“There’s always a lot of exciting activity happening at Signature and The Pershing Square Signature Center, and I’m confident Meghan’s management expertise and thoughtful approach will help us continue moving forward and realizing the possibilities inherent in our unique mission,” said Executive Director Harold Wolpert
The company announced Lantzy’s hiring today. She’ll join senior leadership that includes Wolpert, Artistic Director Paige Evans, among others. Lantzy takes the spot previously held by Gilbert Medina.
At Lincoln Center Theater, Lantzy was part of the team that managed over such productions as My Fair Lady, Falsettos, The King and I, South Pacific, and Christopher Durang’s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, among many others.

Over 100 well-known names – including writers, actors, directors and musicians – have signed a pledge supporting Lorde's decision not to perform in Israel.
The statement was published in The Guardian following backlash over the Kiwi singer’s cancellation of her concert in Tel Aviv. It is a direct response to a full page ad published in the Washington Post on January 1 which called Lorde a bigot and also attacked her homeland of New Zealand.
“We deplore the bullying tactics being used to defend injustice against Palestinians and to suppress an artist’s freedom of conscience. We support Lorde’s right to take a stand,” reads the letter in The Guardian. "Shmuley Boteach, the author and promoter of the advert, supports Israel’s illegal settlements and wrote last month on Breitbart to thank Donald Trump for “electrifying the world” with his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in defiance of international law.

Frankie (Helen McCrory) is a successful, smart and furiously driven aeronautical engineer and part-time lecturer who takes her work very seriously. When she strikes up a relationship with murky student Kahil (Najib Oudghiri), her work ethic decreases in favour of sex-fuelled infatuation. However, as Frankie starts to discover more and more about Kahil (he’s an illegal immigrant and seems eerily interested in fundamentalism), she becomes concerned for both her wellbeing and that of her country, which she’s involved in protecting.
Tapping into post-9/11 issues that are as controversial and discussion-raising as ever, Flying Blind elevates itself beyond minor budgeted romantic drama into a discerning and puzzling directorial debut from Polish filmmaker Katarzyna Klimkiewicz. Slow-burning in its nature, screenwriters Caroline Harrington, Bruce McLeod and Naomi Wallace continually challenge the audience’s perceptions through Frankie’s multiplying speculation and sense of insecurity.
It’s a mostly successful approach, particularly in...

Lawn Dogs dir. John Duigan (1997) Naked Sam Rockwell, when-she-was-a-promising child actress Mischa Barton, and exurban ennui/satire penned by a MacArthur Grant-winning playwright (Naomi Wallace) all adds up to a 'lost indie gem,' according to the Cold Case sages at Movieline. John Duigan's (he also helmed the Australian flick Flirting, with a very young Nicole Kidman) film follows the friendship between 'lawn dog' Trent (Rockwell), a young man doing the landscaping in a snooty neighborhood, and the young outcast Devon Stockard (Barton). With dashes of classic mythology and magical realism, this film provides a sweet respite for outsiders everywhere, and also proves that Rockwell (who you could see in Moon, Gentlemen Broncos, or the upcoming Everybody's Fine this year) is perenially awesome, whatever the movie. Watch now for free on Hulu:...

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, yesterday!
My birthday festivities usually fall close to Tony Awards night. So today I can let my inner theater geek out -- is it "inner" if everyone knows about it?. I'll probably tweet the actual ceremony... but if you're into Broadway and you don't mind spoilers there's already people tweeting from the dress rehearsal including Jane Fonda, Just Jared and Broadway World's Robert Diamond . In the meantime I thought I'd catch you up on a few recent stage shows that I haven't really discussed. As per usual, many of them have movie connections. But mostly I'm here to talk about West Side Story which is up for four TONYs tonight: Best Musical Revival, Best Actress, Best Featured Actress (Karen Olivo as "Anita") and Best Lighting Design.
Anita center (she's gonna get her kicks tonii-iiii-iight. she'll have
a private little mix tonii-iii-iight) and her fellow PRs.
