Peter Watson-Wood was born in 1929 in Sutton, Surrey, England, UK. He and tourist photographer Mike Courtney were responsible for erecting the now-famous "Lands End" sign, into which a person's home town and distance could be slotted, and charging for photographs of the customised sign.
