CBS has moved CSI: Crime Scene Investigation to Sunday nights at 10pm this season -- typically a sign that a show is on its way out. But, could the ratings turnaround and start to rise? Will the venerable series be renewed for a 16th season or will this be the end? Stay tuned.
The original CSI continues to follow Las Vegas crime scene investigators as they try to solve bizarre cases. This season's castmates are Ted Danson, Elisabeth Shue, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, Wallace Langham, David Berman, Elisabeth Hamois, and Jon Wellner.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around...

For the first time since the 2008 writers strike, veteran crime drama CSI won't have a full season of episodes. CBS has reportedly decided to cut season 15's order from 22 to 18 installments.
The original CSI continues to follow Las Vegas crime scene investigators as they try to solve bizarre cases. This season's castmates are Ted Danson, Elisabeth Shue, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, Wallace Langham, David Berman, Elisabeth Hamois, and Jon Wellner.
The ratings are understandably down year-to-year, thanks to CSI's move to Sunday nights when start-times often get pushed thanks to football over-runs. Still, the numbers aren't bad compared to previous year's timeslot occupants.
The episode trim is supposedly due to the network having too much programming waiting in the wings. New series CSI: Cyber will take over the Sundays at 10pm timeslot later...

CSI received its inevitable renewal – it’s the No. 1 show in its Wedneday 10 p.m. timeslot – taking it to Season 14, and with that extension comes the need to make sure all the cast are signed on to continue their roles. In particular, Ted Danson’s original two-year deal is up, so he needed to renegotiate his contract to ensure his future on the series. Thankfully, it appears as though all the deals have gone through smoothly. No drama; no fuss. Everyone is returning for Season 14 and likely beyond. It’s a good time to be a part of the original CSI crew.
The particulars of Danson’s new deal aren’t all that interesting. According to Deadline, he signed on for another two years and his salary is well over $200,000 per episode. Also returning is Elisabeth Shue – she came on board with Danson as the new co-leads – as well as George Eads,...

Just like it recently did with NCIS and its star Mark Harmon, CBS has signed a new contract extension with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation leading man Ted Danson and simultaneously renewed the veteran crime drama for the 2013-14 season. CSI started the season off with "Karma to Burn," picking up where we left off back in May with Db's granddaughter having been kidnapped, Ecklie having been shot protecting Morgan and McKeen somehow behind it all.
So let’s get into it!
First, I’m thrilled that Ecklie survived the shooting and that it actually has brought him and Morgan even close together. Morgan has quickly become one of my favorite characters and her effect on the formerly stern and stoic Conrad Ecklie has me glued to their storyline.
Finn, on the other hand, decided it was a good idea to go with a suspected dirty cop into an area where her phone doesn’t work and without any form of sidearm. While she did find Db's granddaughter, had Moreno not shown up when he did, she would have paid for that stupid decision with her life. I will admit...

After seven years doing his due diligence, toxicology specialist Henry Andrews has at long last received an overdue promotion on CSI. Of course, I don’t mean the character of Andrews was promoted – he’ll still be doing the exact same job he’s been doing for last seven years – but the actor playing him, Jon Wellner, has been given series regular status after spending more than 60 episodes as a recurring character. I’m happy for Wellner, but I’m not naïve enough to believe he got the bump up because of his seniority. There were definitely other factors at work here.

Beforehand Morgan rants about La and its virtues over Vegas, so why make the move here, other than to reconcile with her father, Ecklie (Marc Vann). In a dark, dark house, a struggle ensues between Ray (Laurence Fishburne) and Haskell (Bill Irwin). Ray subdues and cuffs him using regulation issue flex-cuffs. (Important for later.) He then cuts the cuffs and they go head-to-head. Obviously Ray would come out the victor. Before all this, Haskell taunts Ray saying he's killed many. Ray doesn't want to shoot him. Ray would beat Haskell up in that way, with such violence and rage; partly for himself and mostly for Gloria (Tracee Ellis Ross). He knew how to play Ray and that's exactly what Ray did, he went for the taunts. Haskell says they "share something special." He assaulted Gloria, including torturing her and that got Ray's goat. Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) had to arrive first at the scene, so he could help Ray. That's why the camera focused on the cuffs which Ray left on the floor. Brass advises Ray to refrain from speaking with anyone.

Nick (George Eads) and Ray (Laurence Fishburne) searching for a Cs at the beginning, was almost indicative of Ray's search for Haskell (Bill Irwin). Who else would leave DBs in his wake. Nick comments on there being lots of manure here and Ray can smell it, can't help wondering if that was a snide remark about the B.S churned out by Haskell in this episode. No one was really on the ball, I have to say as far as Haskell was concerned. Rray nearly drives into a, "holy cow" as Nick says. Hey Nick should know all about cows from the question Gil (William Petersen) asked him: "What do cows drink?" All those seasons ago. They comes across scattered Db parts in a barn. Ray (Laurence Fishburne) still having to battle his demons with Haskell (Bill Irwin) being on the loose. News reports of Haskell's escape and Ray doesn't want Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) turning off the TV due to him. Brass can't report there have been any sightings of him. Ray explains Haskell isn't any ordinary criminal and so the search for him, that should be manhunt, should also be different. Ray: "Until he makes a mistake, we just satisfy ourselves picking up bodies." Well, like it or not, it's what they do; unfortunately. A man presumed a Db is picked up and brought to autopsy. Before David (David Berman) can cut him open, he gets up and walks out of the morgue. David faints. Lucky for the Db, David got a call otherwise he'd be cut open; but he turns out to be not so luck after all. CSI delving into zombies for the twenty-first century.

Two old ladies in a thrift store open boxes to reveal dismembered body parts. Nick (George Eads) arrives on the Cs with Sara (Jorga Fox) this time and not Ray, (Laurence Fishburne) as is the norm; who is busy with his own personal issues. Det Frankie (Katee Sackoff) tells them his head and foot were found. Sara admits to shopping at this thrift store, as they have some good things. Sara doesn't find any leakage in the boxes and Nick believes the rest of the parts must be in the boxes. They were dropped off by a truck on a pick-up route. Nick wonders how much the killer thought the Db was worth, "times are tough." That was the supposedly funny line. Nick takes Gloria (Tracee Ellis Ross) to see Ray who's conducting an experiment with Hodges (Wallace Langham). Nick comments he looks more like "Dr Dre than Dr Ray.

An opening teaser in black and white showing a woman being dragged away. The CSIs attend a Cs where a Db has been dumped in a ditch. No vehicles around and Greg (Eric Szmanda) asks the officer to tape off the Cs. David, (David Berman) at the prospect of having to go down to examine the Db, asks "Why can't people die closer to the road?" The Db is still smoking on the wet ground, covered with gravel. Hey Nick (George Eads) didn't arrive at the Cs with Ray (Laurence Fishburne) like he usually does. The Db is rolled over, revealing his burnt face. His teeth are clenched and his tongue is burnt and black. Greg notices the singeing on his collar. When David attempts to cut the Db to determine Tod, he wakes up. David: "Call me if his condition worsens;" has the last word before the opening credits this episode.

A woman attempts to pay at the check out in the grocery store, hounded by a complaining customer behind her and very nervous when she looks at a gang outside in the car. Lots of potential suspects in the opening as to why she was so anxious. Shots are heard and the trolley cart boy and the same woman are shot and killed. Nick's (George Eads) first comment at the Cs is that he wanted to go grocery shopping too. Very out of character and irrelevant that two DBs could lead him to think of shopping. Sara (Jorga Fox) replies someone had the same idea. The Db boy, Hector has prison tattoos so could have been the intended target. Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) comments on the woman being an unlucky customer, meaning her shooting could have been accidental. However Nick comments on the Gs (Gun shot) wounds and one in her left eye.

Ray (Laurence Fishburne) and David (David Berman) are called in after a Db is found in the desert. along with a nylon bag, containing styrofoam. David finds a key chain on the Vic; who appears to have puncture marks on his back, which Ray points out are uniform in pattern, resembling bite marks. Ray supposes the bitemarks are from "Godzilla." Doc Robbins (Robert David Hall) comments on the monster on the loose. Cod is brain injury caused by sudden deceleration, such as a car accident. There is perforated skin, muscle. Hodges (Wallace Langham) can't resist getting involved in the investigation, after his analysis on the bag reveals what was found inside is used to construct simulated muscle. Thus there are dinosaurs in town! Hodges wants to "go now, go now" in the words of the song. For the first time, this season, CSI (TV) delves into two separate cases. Nick...

Officer Mitchell (Larry Mitchell) and his partner are on a call out. When they try to get into the house, they need to break the door down. After several attempts, the door gives way to reveal the house if brim full of clutter and junk. The owner, Marta Santiago (Bertila Damas) suffers from a hoarding obsession/disorder. She was ordered by the court to clean out her house. Nick (George Eads) asks Sara (Jorga Fox) how people can live like this. Sara replies it's more like "somebody died like that." Nick manages to find a Db when he puts his foot into the remains. Greg (Eric Szmanda) jokes about Nick "stepping in it". The body can't be moved until they clear a way for David (David Berman) to get in. Marta is helped out of the room by Sara. Marta's whole life is in this house as she tells Sara.

The shark attack in the pool in the opening scene was more of an episode storyline you would acquaint with CSI:Miami (TV) than Vegas. But at least it was different, though I didn't much like this episode, it wasn't as explosive and fast paced as the season opener. Yet it did have some redeeming features, such as allowing Wendy (Liz Vassey) to come back to give a proper ending to her character. She will be missed. Also Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) having a "Kodak" moment about her late father. Also the story of casino bosses rivalries is the usual stuff of Vegas and has been covered before in the show. This is Brass's (Paul Guilfoyle) "first shark call out" as he puts it and that was the first of many puns and fishy jokes floating around throughout the whole episode, as was expected. Also got that 'funny' music you associate with...

On Tuesday, CBS dropped CSI: The Complete Tenth Season on DVD (and DVD only, despite the Blu-Ray release of Season Nine). Let’s take a closer look at the contents of this seven-disc box set.
The Show
I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I’m not one of those people who cried that CSI would end with the departure of William Petersen (or Jorja Fox, or Gary Dourdan, for that matter). Like Law & Order, to me CSI was always more about the crimes being closed than the cast – and I couldn’t complain about attracting a proven name in Laurence Fishburne to the series. I was more amused by Jorja Fox’s decision to leave the show, then – possibly finding her career after it to not be as rewarding – come back on a recurring basis and then eventually as a series regular for the second time.
