Werkteater

Het Werkteater (The Work Theater) was a Dutch progressive, pioneering cooperative group of twelve artists, formed in Amsterdam in 1970, and active in this spirit till 1987. Werkteater staged and produced readings, plays, radio and films. Werkteater created their own performances, often based on a specific themes. These performances were staged at various locations, such as hospitals, prisons and youth institutions, but also at 'het Kattengat' theater in Amsterdam. The 17 years of cultural activity was documented by writer Margot van Schayk in the book "Hello fellow man! The history of Werkteater" (2001). The twelve of Werkteater eventually became 15: Joop Admiraal, Yolande Bertsch, Cas Enklaar, Peter Faber, Frank Groothof, René Groothof, Marja Kok, Hans Man in 't Veld, Daria Mohr, Rense Royaards, Shireen Strooker, Gerard Thoolen, Herman Vinck, Helmert Woudenberg and Olga Zuiderhoek.
