Uh-oh, the new Da may be in some serious trouble in the Law & Order Season 23 finale. The NBC drama wraps its current season on May 16 with “In Harm’s Way,” in which a sports star is killed, but Shaw (Mehcad Brooks) and Riley (Reid Scott) suspect the shooter missed their intended target. In fact, in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, Dixon tells Baxter (Tony Goldwyn)—the shooting happened in front of him and his family—that he was the intended victim. “We had a trajectory analyst review the video of the shooting, and it’s clear he was aiming for you. If you hadn’t moved when you did, that bullet would’ve struck you squarely in the back of the head,” Dixon explains. There’s a citywide manhunt to track the shooter down. Baxter’s wife (Tara Westwood) thinks that Baxter should suspend his campaign for District Attorney.

“Encanto” star John Leguizamo has signed on to executive produce short film “Triggered” from Tara Westwood.
“Triggered,” which stars Westwood, Isiah Whitlock Jr. (“Da 5 Bloods”), Caitlin Mehner (“Dopesick”) and Robert John Burke (“Law & Order Special Victim’s Unit”), deals with themes of gun violence.
“’Triggered’ is exceptional in that it doesn’t preach and never hits you over the head with a message – but I don’t know how anyone can watch it and not agree that we need to do things differently,” said Leguizamo. “Most Americans, even NRA members, already support basic changes such as improved background checks and this is a conversation that we must have. I’m so excited to be a part of this powerful piece directed and starring Tara Westwood.”

The venerable J-horror franchise, The Grudge, gets a second crack at the American market. Abandon all hope, ye who enter.

It seems like so long ago when J-horror swept through the world, embodied by the likes of the zeitgeisty Ring franchise and the grubbier, smaller--and somewhat nastier--Ju-On/The Grudge cycle. Both brands have had shelf lives long past their due date, with the latter spawning a total of nine Japanese films and now four American ones. The fourth and hopefully last of these, simply titled The Grudge, slinks onto screens today and only serves as a reminder that the series was more or less played out even when Sarah Michelle Gellar’s name above the title of the 2004 The Grudge meant something.
As you can tell by the deployment of that name again, with no numbers or subtitles following it, The Grudge wants to be both a reboot and a sequel.

Twenty years ago, a new wave of Japanese supernatural gothic thrillers brought fresh tropes of dread to a genre that was sorely in need of them. The sinister intersection of technology and the afterlife; the presence of ghosts that looked like rotting versions of demons out of Japanese folklore; the assertion of a feminine rage that burst forth like a scream across time — all of this put J-horror, a genre named (at least in the States) to sound like a category of indie rock, on the cutting edge of 21st-century fright cinema. Yet the movies, for all their shivery viciousness, could be hit-or-miss. “Ju-On (The Grudge)” (2000), one of the most popular, was also one of the most middling — a haunted-house saga no less corny or obvious than “The Amityville Horror.” The American remake, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and released in 2004, was even worse.

"Are you alone in the house right now?" Sony has revealed a terrifying new red band trailer for the latest update of The Grudge, the horror series based on the Ju-on movies from Japan. This new take is directed by Nicolas Pesce, of The Eyes of My Mother and Piercing, and it's produced by horror master Sam Raimi. After a young mother murders her family in her own house, a single mother & detective tries to investigate and solve the case. She discovers the house is cursed by a vengeful ghost that dooms those who enter it with a violent death. Andrea Riseborough stars as the detective, with an impressive cast including Demián Bichir, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye, Jacki Weaver, William Sadler, Frankie Faison, Tara Westwood, Nancy Sorel, and Stephanie Sy. There is some seriously disgusting stuff in this trailer, but that's the point - especially coming from Pesce.
