In the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, critics lobbied one consistent complaint against the franchise: no good villains. Sure, there was Loki and the Red Skull, but who else? Iron Monger was just Jeff Bridges’ head floating atop a CG robot, Maliketh the Dark Elf absolutely wasted the magnetic Christopher Eccleston, and the less said about Whiplash the better. Over the years, that complaint has diminished somewhat with the additions of Black Panther baddie Killmonger and the universe-destroying Thanos.
But even as the MCU continues to improve its roster of villains, there’s one irreplaceable bad guy fans are dying to see: the ruler of Latveria, Dr. Victor von Doom.
Doom’s Marvel Origin
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Doctor Doom made his first appearance in 1962’s Fantastic Four #5, immediately establishing himself as a formidable threat, with his green tunic and metallic mask. The six decades...

I made the decision to review both issues of Wolverine that tie into X of Swords as one post, and as we are now going into a second lockdown I’m not sure how my Lcs will be operating. So this week I will be catching up and giving a review of X-Force having recently picked up the first trade paperback. As this trade collects the first six issues, which are nearly a year old there will be spoilers…

The 100 Season 7 is here!
Sadly, this will be the last outing for The 100. CW President Mark Pedowitz confirmed during the network’s 2019 Summer TCA press tour appearance that The 100 season 7 will be the show’s final season, though it may live on in a prequel series.
As a midseason premiere, The 100 was one of the lucky shows to wrap up production before the Covid-19 hit, so we will be getting an entire season of the science fiction drama. Production on Season 7 started back up in August and wrapped in March, so the entire season is good to go, unlike some other CW productions that had to shut down production before the season finished.
Here’s our review of the latest episode, “Etherea.”
What’s next? “The Stranger.” Check out the promo below…
Here’s the synopsis…

“Siren” has been canceled at Freeform after three seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes about two months after the Season 3 finale, which aired at the end of May. The series starred Eline Powell as Ryn Fisher, a mysterious young woman (who happens to be a mermaid) who came ashore looking for her sister, who had been accidentally captured by a fisherman.
The series also starred Rena Owen, Alex Roe, Fola Evans-Akingbola and Ian Verdun. It wascreated by Eric Wald and Dean White. The series was executive produced by Emily Whitesell and Wald, with Whitesell serving as showrunner.
The show proved to a hit ratings draw in its first season, with episodes routinely drawing around 1.5 million viewers in delayed viewing. The show was also the most-watched Freeform original in its second season. And even with a ratings dropoff in Season 3, it remained one of the top shows on the network.

Exclusive: Freeform’s Siren has come to an end as the network has opted not to pick up a fourth season of the mermaid drama. The news comes more than two months after the May 28 Season 3 finale.
The cancellation marks a reversal of fortune for Siren, which made a splashy debut in 2018. It was a breakout hit in Season 1 and its second season ranked as Freeform’s most-watched series of the year.
Despite a double-digit ratings drop in Season 3, Siren remained the most watched Freeform original series in linear ratings.
Season 3 of Siren kicked off with a two-episode premiere April 2. The series is based on a story by co-writers Eric Wald and Dean White, and is set in the coastal town of Bristol Cove, known in legend as an ancient home of mermaids. We may be running out new episodes of many of our favorite TV shows, but there is one piece of TV good news: The 100 Season 7 is almost here and, as it finished production just before the production shutdowns due to Covid-19, there’s no reason to believe we won’t be getting all of it. Gearing up for The 100 Season 7 launch on May 20th, The CW has released the episode titles and synopses for the first four episodes of the final season. Here’s what we know…
The 100 Season 7 premiere is titled “From The Ashes,” and is followed by “The Garden,” “False Gods” and “Hesperides.”
“From The Ashes” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. Et)
Season Premiere – Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and her friends attempt to rebuild Sanctum as a new threat rises in the woods. Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropuolos, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Tasya Teles, Shannon Kook, Jr Bourne, Shelby Flannery and Chuku Modu also star.

Freeform’s mermaid drama Siren will kick off its third season with a two-episode premiere on Thursday, April 2 at 9 Pm. The network also released a first-look photo (see below) at the TCA Winter Press Tour.
The series is based on a story by co-writers Eric Wald and Dean White, and is set in the coastal town of Bristol Cove, known in legend an an ancient home of mermaids. The legend part changed, though, when reality set in with the arrival of the mysterious Ryn (Eline Powell), who wreaks havoc on the small fishing town.
There’s plenty of drama heading in to Season 3. It picks up following Ben’s shocking decision to let the reporter die at the end of season two, which has ripple effects in his relationship with Maddie and Ryn. Meanwhile, a dangerous, sophisticated new mermaid arrives in Bristol Cove, challenging Ryn’s leadership and igniting an...

Al Ewing will take over a new Guardians of the Galaxy series for Marvel.
With Donny Cates taking over the writing duties on Thor, there was room for a new writer to pick up Guardians of the Galaxy. And at Marvel's Next Big Thing panel at New York Comic Con, the new team was announced: Juan Cabal (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man) on art, and Al Ewing (Immortal Hulk) writing.
Ewing is currently lighting the world on fire with Joe Bennett on Immortal Hulk. The book is the first to go full monster movie with Bruce Banner's alter-ego in some time, and it's by far the most successful because there are enormous helpings of body and psychological horror added in. It is weird and discomforting and gorgeous and easily one of the best things Marvel has published this decade.

Hey, "The 100" fans. We hope you guys enjoyed tonight's episode 2. Now that's it's officially over and done, it's time to take a look at what's in store for the next, new episode 3, which is due out next Tuesday night, May 14, 2019. The CW was kind enough to serve up a press release for episode 3. So, that's what we'll be referencing for this spoiler session. To get things started, CW's press release revealed that episode 3 is titled, "The Children of Gabriel." It sounds like episode 3 will feature some pretty intense and action-filled scenes as Clarke tries to win over Sanctum. Bellamy, Echo and Octavia encounter a new threat and more! We'll go ahead and start off this spoiler session with the Clarke situation. I turns out that Clarke will be extremely busy, trying to convince the leaders of Sanctum to let her people stay. The CW's official description tells us, "Clarke (Eliza Taylor...

Hey, "Blue Bloods" fans. Unfortunately, it's one of those times again where we have to inform you that your favorite show is about to take a small hiatus. However, this one won't last for too long, especially since we're close to the end of season 9. So, here's the deal. We have been informed that the next, new episode 20 will not be airing next Friday night, April 19,2019. No, no, no. Instead, CBS has scheduled it to air on Friday night, April 26, 2019 in its same 9pm central standard time slot. So, be sure to mark that very important date down on your TV show calendars. We don't have an exact reason for why they're doing this. We just know that they are. We're guessing it probably has something to do with scheduling. CBS probably wants the season finale to land on a certain night in May 2019. So, they're skipping a week to make sure that happens.

These preview pages from American Carnage #4 shows that Hill & Fernandez's American Carnage feels like the best of mid-period Vertigo.
American Carnage is a revelation. Bryan Edward Hill, a rising star at DC who won praise for his work on The Wild Storm: Michael Cray and Detective Comics has a straight up throwback Vertigo book here with art partner Leandro Fernandez.
In my mind, there are two main periods of Vertigo comics. There's launch era Vertigo - British Invasion comics like Sandman, Invisibles, or Hellblazer - the weird urban fantasy from the British titans of comics like Gaiman, Ennis, Morrison, or Delano. And then there's mid-period Vertigo, when they moved away from the Swamp Things of the world and onto immersive crime slice of life stuff like 100 Bullets and Scalped. In many ways, American Carnage feels so much like 100 Bullets that I think Hill and Fernandez's comic gets...

There’s still something fishy going on in Bristol Cove, and we’ll get some answers when Freeform’s mermaid drama Siren returns for Season 2. The Disney-owned cable net said during the show’s New York Comic Con panel that Season 2 will surface on Thursday, January 24.
Check out a teaser above, fittingly set to Grandson’s “Blood // Water,” and a first-look photo below.
More mermaids will arrive in the once-sleepy fishing town in Season 2 — but are they seeking revenge, or is something more catastrophic driving them out of the sea? Marine researchers Ben (Alex Roe) and Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) continue to establish a bond with mermaid Ryn (Eline Powell), not only to protect her but to try to help save her entire civilization. Ian Verdun and Rena Owen also star.

Dead of Summer alumna Paulina Singer is set for a recurring role in CBS All Access’ straight-to-series psychological thriller Tell Me a Story, from Kevin Williamson and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. Written by Williamson, Tell Me a Story, which co-stars Billy Magnussen and Kim Catrall, takes the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller. Set in modern day New York City, the first season of this serialized drama interweaves “The Three Little Pigs,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” and “Hansel and Gretel” into an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge and murder. Singer will play Laney, a rebellious young ingénue who is exploring the darker persuasions of teen-aged angst and sexuality. Known for her series regular roles on Freeform’s Dead of Summer and WEtv’s South of Hell, Singer’s other credits include Orange is the New Black,...

As Freeform concisely puts it, more mermaids are coming, and they’ll be arriving in January when the second season of Siren premieres.
Freeform tweeted the announcement today, though didn’t set a specific date other than January 2019.
The mermaid thriller is based on a story by co-writers Eric Wald and Dean White, and is set in the coastal town of Bristol Cove, known in legend an an ancient home of mermaids. The legend part changed, though, when reality set in with the arrival of the mysterious Ryn (Eline Powell), who wreaks havoc on the small fishing town.
Last month it was announced that Garcelle Beauvais (E!’s The Arrangement) has joined Season 2 in a recurring role as Susan Bishop, a mom who abandoned her family for 10 months but is back in Bristol Cove.

Warn-kru: The following article spoils the events of The 100’s fifth season finale. Proceed with caution.
It was the ending no one saw coming — least of all Monty and Harper.
After narrowly defeating McCreary and escaping into space just in time to avoid being blown up along with the rest of the valley, Tuesday’s season finale of The 100 put Clarke & Co. into cryosleep, from which she and Bellamy awoke 125 years later (!) to meet Monty and Harper’s son Jordan (!!) and to discover a new planet (!!!). If you can’t tell from my liberal use of exclamation points, I’m still in shock.

The 100 has a new Public Enemy No. 1.
The CW drama has tapped Spanish actor William Miller to join the Season 5 cast in a major — and villainous — recurring role, TVLine has learned exclusively. Per the official character description, Miller’s alter ego, Robert McCreary, “is a mysterious prisoner aboard the long-distance mining mission sent from our time. A former enforcer from a powerful crime syndicate, his ruthless, violent methods make him a formidable antagonist to our heroes.”

This review is based off a volume that collects All-Star Batman #1-5.
Unless you’re a casual reader scoping out this review, odds are that you’re at least somewhat aware of the many contributions Scott Snyder has made to the Batman mythos during this decade. To say that he and Greg Capullo have made their mark is an understatement. Whether it be creating the Court of Owls, redefining the Joker or even putting Jim Gordon under the cowl, that dynamic duo may very well one day find themselves mentioned in the same breath as legendary creative teams such as Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams.
But after wrapping a definitive 51-issue run, where does one go from there? For Snyder, at least, the solution for All-Star Batman was simple: Beyond the borders of Gotham City. I must admit that taking the Dark Knight out of his comfort zone opens up some interesting possibilities,...

Scott Snyder’s All-Star Batman series, which features the Dark Knight travelling the Us and meeting a revolving door of his worst enemies, has served up seven high-quality issues so far. Issue #8, however, might just be the best one yet.
In ‘Ends of the Earth: Part 3,’ Batman travels to the swamps of Mississippi to confront the Mad Hatter, who he believes might be behind the necrotic plague released by Mr. Freeze back in Part 1. It turns out that the Lewis Carroll-loving weirdo might have a bigger bombshell than that up his sleeve, though. In a trippy, ultra-surreal tale, Jervis Tetch suggests that Bruce Wayne’s life as Batman is all a hallucination brought on by Tetch’s own ‘Looking Glass’ technology.
