- After being the Script Editor on television soap opera Compact, he changed places and moved to BBC2, where he would be responsible for Script Editing duties on thriller serials produced by BBC old-hand Alan Bromly. After applying for a a place on the BBC Director's course, he was made a producer, with assistance by BBC old-hands Alan Bromly and Morris Barry.
- Born in South Africa. After training as a stage manager in theatre he moved into writing for theatre and radio. He emigrated to England in 1949.
- Had his first work for the BBC (a play titled The Wooden Hortse, set in the Trojan Wars) accepted in 1955 and became a member of The Script Unit, as an adapter of his own and others work to make them suitable for television (and/or radio).
