She was thrilled to conquer the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series category at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards last night (January 25) and Viola Davis made sure she mentioned her daughter has been an inspiration for her.
The “How to Get Away With Murder” star explained, "When I tell my daughter stories at night, inevitably a few things happen. Number one, I use my imagination. I always start with life and then I build from there. And the other thing that happens is she always says, 'Mommy, can you put me in the story?’”
Davis continued by thanking the team at her show for "thinking that a sexualized, messy, mysterious woman could be a 49-year-old dark skinned African-American woman who looks like me. Thank you to all the people who love me exactly how God made me – and that's my beautiful husband, Julius, my 4-year-old daughter at home,...

Nominations for the 41st Annual Annie Awards were announced and "Frozen" and "Monsters University" led the pack with 10 nominations each. "Despicable Me 2" and "The Croods" followed closely with 9 noms each.
I am rooting for "Frozen" to win! It's a return to form to what Disney does best -- affecting fairy tale with memorable musical numbers. "Monsters University," on the other hand, was bland. The film bored me on second viewing.
Steven Spielberg will receive the Winsor McCay Award for career achievement at the awards ceremony happening on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Patrick Warburton will serve as host.

Those who grew up in the 80s and 90s and were active readers in their youth are likely to be familiar with the Choose Your Own Adventure books. This series of novels featured a warning at the start of each book not to read it from cover to cover. The story was broken up into segments, with each part leading up to a choice of a few options. The reader could choose one of the mentioned options and jump to the listed page to continue to story from that option. Part of the challenge was trying to find the best possible adventure from the presented options. Alice Lin clearly has an appreciation for the classic Bantam gamebooks, because she created a cover for a Cabin Choose Your Own Adventure book. Click the image to view the bigger version on Lin's website. Lin's amusing and well done illustration serves the dual-purpose...

The Vampire Diaries has tracked down Klaus and Rebekah's mother, Esther.
Alice Davis, best known for portraying a young version of Eloise Hawking on Lost, will first be seen on episode eight via a flashback. A flashWAYback, that is, as sources say the CW favorite will delve centuries into the past in order to depict life in the Original household.
Evans, of course, joins other members of the first vampire family, including Klaus, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Claire Holt's Rebekah.
