- Most popular foreign actor in China, mostly thanks to his appearance in Walter Defends Sarajevo (1972). Every New Years' Eve this film can be seen on Chinese TV.

- On August 1993, he received Life Achievement Award "Slavica" for his roles in Yugoslav cinematography.
- Pictured on one of a set of eight 23d Serbian commemorative postage stamps celebrating Serbian actors and actresses, issued 27 March 2019. Stamps were issued in a single souvenir sheet. Others honored in this set were Ljubisa Samardzic, Mira Stupica, Slobodan Aligrudic, Predrag Lakovic, Sonja Savic, Milorad Mandic-Manda, and Nebojsa Glogovac.

- He has two children, son Miljko (1961) who is attorney and film and TV producer and daughter Jelena (1964).
