In something of an unprecedented move for a celebrity of her caliber, Katy Perry took YouTube by storm last weekend when she announced that she’d be streaming live from a Big Brother-style house for four nonstop days in celebration of her new album, Witness.
By YouTube’s account, the experiment -- called Witness World Wide, and featuring guest appearances from James Corden (below), Liza Koshy, Gordon Ramsey, and Gigi Gorgeous -- looks to have been an enormous success. Over 49 million fans from 190 different countries tuned in to watch the stream over the course of four days, according to Billboard.

There’s no more obvious candidate for directing a Edward Snowden biopic than Oliver Stone, the reigning king of conspiratorial left-wing political thrillers. However, the definitive movie about Snowden’s dramatic leak of Nsa files already exists: Laura Poitras’ Oscar-winning documentary “Citizenfour.” Stone’s “Snowden” recounts the same events, using them as a framing device to recount the young character’s radicalization. As a result, “Snowden” largely becomes the CliffsNotes “Citizenfour,” now with a Hollywood gloss.
See More Oliver Stone Interview: Why ‘Snowden’ Is His Answer to American Bullies
We find the defector (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose monotonous intonations echo Snowden’s own) meeting with a camera-wielding Poitras (an underutilized Melissa Leo), along with former Guardian reporters Glenn Greenwald (an overzealous Zachary Quinto) and Ewen MacAskill (Tom Wilkinson on autopilot). That interrogation shapes “Snowden” as it flashes back from the 2013 encounter to 2004, then works its way toward the present, as the...

It was "Gordon's Greatest Hits" on MasterChef (1.7.6) last night and the audience ate it up. Batman is an icon, synonymous with the superhero genre and with comic books in general. However, unlike many comic heroes Batman has evolved, constantly changing to keep up with the times. With Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises coming to our screens in a mere 12 months WhatCulture! is looking back at the changing face of the beloved Dark Knight.
Detective Comics Issue 27 (1938)
The Case of the Chemical Syndicate, issue 27 of Detective Comics saw the début of a new character for DC, the Bat-Man. Following the tradition of pulp detective comics, the Bat-Man was a crime fighting detective who had no qualms in killing his adversaries.
Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, the original basis for Batman was a combination of pulp and detective heroes The Shadow and Sherlock Holmes. Visually Kane was influenced by Leonardo De Vinci’s designs for a flying machine that was based on the wings of a bat.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer Bootleg Photos have premiered. The Dark Knight Rises teaser trailer bootleg photos from Christoprher Nolan‘s Batman (2012) film star Gary Oldman, Christian Bale, and Tom Hardy. The Dark Knight Rises‘ plot synopsis: “Details about the film’s storyline are scarce, but it has already been established that one of villains set to take on the Batman (Christian Bale) will be the powerhouse known as Bane (Tom Hardy). Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway), better known to comics fans as Catwoman, will also have a central role in the movie”
We would post the leaked teaser trailer but Big Brother is out with a vengeance, taken them down over the net left and right. I have seen the leaked teaser trailer multiple times (I searched really fast, faster than the Warner Bros’ retainers). Let me start off by saying Bane! Also, Commissioner Gordon looks fraked in his hospital bed.

Forget Transformers! The ultimate retro giant battling robot movie was Stuart Gordon’s Robot Jox (1990 aka Robojox) filmed in Italy with old-school stop motion giant robot battles shot here in the U.S. These rock-em-sock-em style behemoths complete with flamethrowers, lasers, giant rope-saws, and rocket propelled boxing gloves were crude, but their crunching and bashing were a sight to behold in the days before CGI. It was a fairly expensive movie from producer Charles Band’s Empire Productions (which churned out gems like Re-Gordon’s Re-animator and the original Troll) but was poorly marketed and was said to have bankrupted the studio. Robojox, though poorly written and acted, was a lot of fun when I saw it at the theater over 20 years ago, a sort of live-action mecha anime, and it is available in a nice full-screen DVD on the MGM label.

Dragons’ Den star Duncan Bannatyne has suggested that show bosses sack millionaire James Caan from the lineup and replace him with Apprentice star Karren Brady.
Bannatyne has insisted that the BBC needs only him and Peter Jones on the show, adding that the rest of the panel including Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis are completely replaceable.
He told The Sun:
“Only me and Peter are integral to the show. Anyone else could go.
“James Caan never gelled with the rest of us and it’s got nothing to do with him starting later in the programme.
“I hope he doesn’t come back. I know they’re wanting to change things and mix it up, and I agree it needs it. A couple of dragons could do with being cut.”
He added: “Karren would be good in the Den. They’ve said they want more women. Deborah gets a lot of criticism.

It seems that Dragon’s Den bigwig, Duncan Bannatyne, has plans to feature ten “tramps” in a new reality TV show in which the vagrants will compete for a job with Bannatyne.
The Sun reports that Duncan intends to “put the down-and-outs through their paces” at his own luxury spa hotel in Hastings, East Sussex.
The show, to be called “Homeless Hotel” will see the homeless competitors go through numerous rounds, with one eventually being awarded a job.
It seems the show’s producers are working closely with homeless charity Shelter prior to the show commencing later this year.
A show source told the paper, “Reality shows have tackled everything under the sun but no one has thought of doing something like this…
“Some people might think the concept is exploitation but it’s no different to any other similar show.
“The only difference here is that the people taking part have nowhere to live.

Duncan Bannatyne has admitted that he is very comfortable competing with his Dragons’ Den co-star Peter Jones.
The pair will team up with with Strictly Come Dancing professionals Natalie Lowe and Lilia Kopylova for a Sport Relief special on Friday, March 19 on BBC One.
Bannatyne told Metro: “We’re competing in the Sport Relief dancing competition but we don’t need any encouragement to be competitive.
“There’s rivalry over anything that comes up. We go to a lot of events and compete in things such as charity auctions.”

Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he would like to be a guest judge on American Idol.
After insisting that Simon Cowell is irreplaceable, Gordon went on to offer himself up for a guest judging role.
“It’s a very tough call, that,” Ramsay told Access Hollywood. “I don’t think Simon is replaceable, to be honest. You need someone like Jamie Foxx to be talented, Will Smith, you know… [someone] incredibly clever, great voice, and sort of someone that could be… of the moment and sort of inspire them. It’s going to be a very tough call to replace Simon Cowell.”
On a future appearance on the talent show he added:
“Right now, I’ve got a schedule beyond belief but yeah, I’d do Idol one day. As a guest judge, yeah, definitely.”
However, he added: “I definitely wouldn’t eat the food after. Have you seen the food behind the set?...

Tana Ramsay has become the fourth contestant to be voted off ITV’s Dancing On Ice.
Although she achieved her best scores date, Tana found herself in tonight’s skate off against former Coronation Street actor Danny Young.
Tana flailed around the ice and was at least half a beat behind every move her partner Stuart made. She was ungainly when going in and out of lifts and it was no shock when all the judges voted to save Danny and Frankie.
We were hoping that Tana would last another week or two and that tonight would see Emily Atack going home. But we think the revealing red costume saved her tonight! Do you think Tana deserved to go? Leave your comments below.

X Factor boss Simon Cowell may be in line to receive a Knighthood from the Queen, in return for the charity work he regularly undertakes.
Nearly 10 Facebook sites have been established to lobby for Cowell “Sir Simon” and a formal notification has reportedly been sent to Gordon Brown in Downing Street.
A source close to the Pm told the Daily Star Sunday: “Gordon is a good friend of Simon’s and admires all the work he does.
“I’m sure he would back any attempt to get Simon knighted – if it’s not in June, then in the New Year’s Honours list.”
Cowell, who backed the Help for Heroes charity, is currently working on a charity single for victims of the recent Haiti earthquake.
On the subject Simon previously said: “I never did all this to get a knighthood.
“I am very lucky to do what I do and I feel privileged.

Jason Gardiner had better watch out, because very soon Gordon Ramsay will be on the warpath.
Not enough that he called Gordon’s wife Tana a ‘frigid schoolteacher’ on last week’s Dancing On Ice live show, but now he’s gone one step further.

“She lacks everything – there is no redeeming quality to her on the ice.
“When she had to dance sexy it was so awkward and uncomfortable. She’s very, very insecure. She needs to watch it back to see how unsexy and unsensual she was.”

At the press launch of the show, Tana said: “When Gordon brought the kids to watch me for the first time a couple of Sundays ago I was really nervous because I kept thinking they might be disappointed. But they really enjoyed it.
“I think all my family just think I’m slightly mad, in fact probably completely mad, but at the same time they are pleased that I’m trying something different.”
The 35-year-old also admitted that she was worried that she wouldn’t be fit enough for the demanding schedule of the show.
She said: “Before this I thought I was quite fit because I run, but the fitness required for figure skating is in a whole different league.”

Young actress Emily Atack has admitted that she is looking forward to parading in some revealing Dancing On Ice costumes this month.
The ITV show kicks off on Friday night and Emily says that the sparkly costumes are what she is most looking forward to.
Emily told The Sun: “I really don’t mind wearing revealing outfits. I feel very comfortable in them.
“Being on the show is an excuse to have big hair, massive false eyelashes and loads of make up.
“And I love the glittery little costumes, it’s great.
“But it’s a bit weird that I’m being called the baby of the group and I’m being put in these tiny outfits!
Emily also admitted that being in the TV industry, she is very conscious of her weight and body shape.
She added: “I do watch my weight, especially over the last year since I’ve been on TV.

London -- Channel 4 is putting troubled children at the heart of its spring/summer season, with a hard-hitting strand, "Britain's Forgotten Children," focusing on what happens when children are raised by the state.
The season will include actress Samantha Morton's directorial debut, "The Unloved," a semi-autobiographical drama about what happens to a young girl growing up in a children's home. While in "Adopt Me," the broadcaster will examine why a quarter of the 4,000 children up for adoption every year fail to find a home.
In "The Homecoming," a film for the "Cutting Edge" documentaries strand, journalist Rachel Roberts explores the repercussions for children of being in care, while Rageh Omaar also will report on the subject in a special edition of "Dispatches."

Serial killers are scary. So are mutant monsters. But in the collective American imagination, the terror they elicit is often no greater than that generated by malevolent corporate behemoths. Wielding stealthy political clout, recklessly tampering with genetics and technology, and casting morality aside in favor of profit, they're the avaricious power structures that loom large over our public and private lives, covertly pulling strings from their ivory towers while commissioning dirty deeds to be furtively carried out in the shadows of the night. Fueling our Big Brother fears, corporations are usually portrayed as villainous, and have most vigorously thrived in science fiction, where contemporary anxieties about nefarious boardroom conduct can be largely, fancifully projected.
