Exclusive: HBO Max has acquired non-exclusive SVOD rights to the first two seasons of Sinking Ship Entertainment’s Odd Squad for Latin America.
Episodes of the Emmy-winning kids’ comedy math series are expected to launch on the streaming platform in 2022.
Odd Squad is a live-action comedy about kid agents who are equipped with the world’s most advanced and unpredictable gadgetry. Whenever something strange, weird or unusually odd happens, it’s Odd Squad’s job to put things right by using math to solve odd problems.
The series was created by Tim McKeon and Adam Peltzman and is co-produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment and Fred Rogers Productions for PBS, in association with TVOkids. Netflix on Monday unveiled seven new original preschool series in the works at the streaming company, including a CG animated comedy adventure to premiere this year that serves as an expansion of DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon franchise.
The new series — five animated, one nonfiction, one live-action — aimed at Netflix’s global audience of kids ages 2-6 join previously announced originals on the launchpad including DreamWorks Archibald’s Next Big Thing, Go! Go! Cory Carson and Chico Bon Bon.

CBS and The Young and the Restless were the top winners Friday at the Daytime Emmy Creative Arts Awards, which were handed out at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, the site of tomorrow’s 46th annual Daytime Emmys.
The Young and the Restless scored five nods at the ceremony, which honored the year’s best in children’s and animated programming along with crafts. Baobab Studios’ animated Crow: The Legend and Amazon Prime’s soap After Forever scored four wins apiece.

PBS Kids has ordered a new live-action series, Odd Squad, in which two agents, Olive and Otto, are on a mission to save the day using math. Odd Squad is created by Tim McKeon (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Adventure Time, The Electric Company) and Adam Peltzman (The Electric Company, The Backyardigans, Wallykazam!), and produced by Canadian kids TV producer Sinking Ship Entertainment and The Fred Rogers Company. The new series is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
