A contestant on the latest instalment of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? accidentally revealed a little-known behind-the-scenes secret.
Last weekend’s episode of the hit ITV quiz show featured a contestant called Maria King.
The episode finished partway through Maria’s run of questions, with the end being signalled by a loud sound effect.
As Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? viewers no doubt are aware, the show’s format allows Maria to resume her quiz at the beginning of the next episode.
When the klaxon sounded, host Jeremy Clarkson asked the contestant: “Do you know what that means?”
To which Maria unexpectedly replied: “I’ll have to go and get changed.”
She then hurriedly added: “I’m not supposed to say that, am I?”
Rather than film each episode separately, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in fact shoots multiple episodes at once.

NBC viewers were already seeing a lot of Maria Taylor on Sundays. Now they can be assured of seeing even more.
Taylor, the up-and-coming sportscaster who left ESPN last year for NBC Sports, was named host of “Football Night in America,” the show that precedes “Sunday Night Football” and garners one of the network’s biggest weekly audiences. She becomes the series’ first full-time female host, and becomes the latest in an impressive series of sports announcers to fill the role, including Bob Costas and Dan Patrick.
Taylor picks up lead duties on “Football Night” after Mike Tirico was named to provide play by play on “SNF” following a decision by Al Michaels to jump to Amazon to call “Thursday Night Football.” Last year’s “Football Night” crew included Tirico and Taylor along with Tony Dungy, Drew Brees, Chris Simms and Mike Florio, with Jac Collinsworth and Rodney Harrison holding forth from the game site.

What was to be one of the highlights for Team U.S.A. in this Olympics ended in heartbreak as skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin missed a gate on her Slalom run tonight and was out of her best event after six seconds.
What was to be a centerpiece of NBC’s primetime coverage quickly became what the network’s Maria Taylor described as “Gold Medal heartbreak” as a dejected Shiffrin skied to the shoulder of the course and just sat down. That left the network’s announcers struggling to describe what was happening onscreen as the two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and three-time Overall World Cup champion simply sat in the snow with her skis off, head down.
Mikaela Shiffrin’s second Olympic race also ends early https://t.co/Pfs4hKcGlK pic.twitter.com/ThYP4QjDHL

ESPN is putting Rachel Nichols on the bench: The sports network has removed Nichols from its NBA coverage in the wake of controversial comments from her that leaked last month. ESPN has also cancelled The Jump, the daily basketball news show hosted by Nichols that debuted in 2016.
Nichols confirmed the news with a tweet on Wednesday: “Got to create a whole show and spend five years hanging out with some of my favorite people, talking about one [of] my favorite things. An eternal thank you to our amazing producers & crew — The Jump was never meant to last forever, but it sure was fun.

With the NBA preseason set to start in about six weeks, ESPN has removed Rachel Nichols from its coverage of the league and canceled what is arguably its flagship NBA-focused show, The Jump, which Nichols fronted.
Nichols’ last appearance on the show was August 16. Since then, it has been hosted by ESPN NBA reporter Malika Andrews.
The cascade of events started this summer, when the New York Times reported on leaked comments made by Nichols, who is white, and another of the network’s highest-profile female hosts Maria Taylor, who is Black.
That led to a cascade of changes which saw Nichols removed from the networks NBA Finals coverage and Taylor, who subsequently left the network, elevated to hosting that coverage.
David Roberts, who this month was tapped to lead ESPN’s NBA production, including event and studio productions, said the following in a statement.

ESPN used to rely on two talented female sportscasters, Rachel Nichols and Maria Taylor, for some of its top basketball coverage. Going forward, the network isn’t going to have either.
ESPN has decided to cancel “The Jump,” the Nichols-led weekday daily basketball-news program and take the sportscaster off of NBA coverage. The decision comes after Nichols had become embroiled in a controversy after a video recording of her complaining about a colleague, Maria Taylor, getting a role she had been promised, spurring internal complaints and division within the Disney-owned sports-media giant. Taylor recently left ESPN and moved to NBC Sports.
“We mutually agreed that this approach regarding our NBA coverage was best for all concerned,” said David Roberts, senior vice president for NBA production at ESPN, in a statement. “Rachel is an excellent reporter, host and journalist, and we thank her for her many contributions to our NBA content.

ESPN is taking Rachel Nichols off its NBA programming, which includes canceling her daytime show “The Jump.”
“We mutually agreed that this approach regarding our NBA coverage was best for all concerned. Rachel is an excellent reporter, host and journalist, and we thank her for her many contributions to our NBA content,” David Roberts, senior vice president of production, said in a statement.
Nichols, who is still under contract with ESPN for another year, has been embroiled in controversy ever since her 2020 comments regarding former ESPN colleague Maria Taylor re-surfaced in a New York Times story in July. In a leaked phone conversation last year, Nichols suggested Taylor was picked over her to cover that year’s NBA Finals because of her race.
Sports Business Journal first reported on Nichols and “The Jump.” No decisions have been made on Nichols’ future or other ESPN work, an individual with knowledge of the decision told TheWrap.

Like many "Bondologists," Herring & Haggis got swept up in the days leading up to the release of "Skyfall." The Jacksonville, Florida based design company set a challenge for themselves -- to design one poster a day for each film in the franchise for 23 days until the release of the 23rd Bond film.
The idea sprung from a viewing of "Dr. No," which happened to fall on 50th anniversary of the film, after which Clif Watson and Maria Taylor, designed to do a silk-screened poster for each Bond film. "We agreed early on that we would avoid the typical Bond marketing subject matter. No girls, cars, guns or martini glasses allowed!" Watson told the Daily Heller. Instead Herring & Haggis wanted a more minimalist style that would allow them to complete the posters in less than a month.
