“Ozark” cinematographer Shawn Kim came aboard the show at the start of Season 4 with a good idea of what creators Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams wanted for the look of the dark thriller about a mob accountant and his family who relocate from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks: A “sense of danger in the shadows,” Kim says.
“Ozark” fans have been waiting three months for the second half of the season to find out what happens to the Byrdes — Jason Bateman’s Marty, wife Wendy (Laura Linney) and their two children — as they try to wriggle free from the clutches of the drug cartel that employs him and the FBI that wants to imprison him. But Kim says the final seven installments, which drops April 29 and close out the Netflix series, are built around the ambitious Ruth (Julia Garner), who had worked for Marty and saw her world collapse around...

The film stars Elizabeth Rodriguez, Liza Colón-Zayas and Daphne Rubin-Vega (from “In the Heights”) along with a cast that includes Felix Solis, Max Casella, Michael Rispoli, Shirley Rodriguez, MacKenzie Lansing and J. Cameron Barnett.
“Allswell” tells a story of family trauma and reconciliation. The film was written collaboratively between director Ben Snyder and the three lead actors. Snyder, Rodriguez, Colón-Zayas and Rubin-Vega are also members of New York’s Labyrinth Theater Company. “Allswell” is also the feature-producing and writing debut for Rodriguez, who produced with Snyder, Gia Walsh, Ari Issler, Paul Jarrett and Kara Baker.
Additionally, the film marks the second feature directed and written by Snyder. Snyder’s first feature was the award-winning “11:55,” which also starred Rodriguez.

"I ain't running this time. I ain't scared." Gravitas Ventures has debuted the first official trailer for an indie thriller titled 11:55, starring actor Victor Almanzar from "Empire" and "Chicago P.D." as a young marine returning to his small hometown. The title is in reference to 11:55 bus, which is arriving with the person who is out to kill our young marine who finally returns home safe. The film premiered at the 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival, and also played at the Seattle and Austin Film Festivals last year. This also stars Elizabeth Rodriguez, David Zayas, Julia Stiles, Shirley Rumierk, Robin de Jesus, Mike Carlsen, and John Leguizamo. This looks like it could be good, I'm intrigued to check it out sometime soon. Give it a watch. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Ari Issler & Ben Snyder's 11:55, direct from YouTube: After being involved in the fatal shooting of a local drug dealer,...

Winning for Best Drama was “Farr,” a crime drama set in Northern Ireland (which also won the same prize at last fall’s ITVFest). Per the drama jury’s statement, “The pilot we would like to recognize is ‘Farr’ since we were invested in the characters and storyline. We can’t wait to see how it unfolds!”
Best Comedy was awarded to “Truth Slash Fiction,” which revolved around a teenage girl’s discovery of erotic fan fiction. According to the jury’s statement, “We decided to recognize work that exists as a true pilot – establishing a mood, conflicts, characters, relationships and an ongoing story that would make a compelling series. Let's get it out of the way - 11:55 is derivative. It's a showdown film. Showdown films have a simple plot device and story line: the protagonist is threatened and driven by angst, "Should I stay or should I go?" The antagonist is driven by rage and revenge and has clear intentions. The characters' reasons vary from film to film but the premise is the same. You've seen films like that hundreds of times. Welcome to 11:55.
There's no shame in dragging out an old chestnut. William Shakespeare never came up with an original story line either. Co-director Ben Snyder admitted to the fact that the film's title was inspired by High Noon. But this film, which had its world premiere recently at the Los Angeles Film Festival, is the first directorial effort of Ari Issler and Snyder.
Nelson Sanchez (co-screenwriter Victor Almanzar) is a returning Afghan War veteran.
