London, June 9 (Ians) According to head coach Gary Stead, New Zealand’s left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult is on the line to make a return to the Test team despite declining a central contract.
Boult, 33, was released from his New Zealand Cricket Central Contract last year to spend time with his family and feature in various T20 leagues around the world. He last played for New Zealand in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup semifinal against Pakistan.
Though he was not included in New Zealand’s list of contracted players on Thursday, Boult has instead signed a casual playing agreement with the national side. Stead believes this agreement will see Boult being involved in upcoming Tests for New Zealand, especially with matches against Australia and South Africa coming up in their 2023/24 summer of cricket.

New Delhi, June 8 (Ians) New Zealand speedster Trent Boult committed to being available for the national team for part of the playing programme despite declining a central contract and therefore has been offered a casual playing agreement.
In August of last year, Boult and New Zealand reached an agreement to mutually release his central contract. This arrangement granted the 33-year-old the opportunity to participate in different domestic leagues worldwide and prioritise spending quality time with his family.
“Boult, while again declining a central contract, has committed to being available for the BlackCaps for part of the playing programme and, on that basis, has been offered a casual playing agreement,” New Zealand Cricket said in a release.
With Boult turning out for the national team, it looks highly likely he will represent New Zealand at this year’s Icc Cricket World Cup in India, starting from October 5.
“We’re having positive conversations with Trent.

Gt captain Hardik Pandya said: “We were going to bat first as well. If the home captain does not know what to choose, I thought I might as well bowl and see what happens.
While Rr made one change in the playing XI as Adam Zampa came in for Jason Holder, Gt haven’t made any change.

Mumbai, May 1 (Ians) Yashasvi Jaiswal’s magnificent 124 went in vain as Suryakumar Yadav (55) and Tim David (45 not out) carried five-time champions Mumbai Indians to six-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in the 1000th match of the tournament in a run-fest at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Mumbai looked in trouble when they were 104/3 in 12 overs. But Suryakumar smashed 20 runs off the 13th over from Kuldeep Sen and from there on, he never looked back, hitting eight fours and two sixes while David was brilliant in hitting two fours and five humongous sixes for Mumbai to go to seventh place at the points table.
Mumbai didn’t have a great start to chasing 218 as captain Rohit Sharma was castled by a knuckleball from Sandeep Sharma in the second over. Cameron Green walked in and smashed Trent Boult for three fours through mid-off, mid-on and point, before slog-sweeping Ravichandran Ashwin over deep backward...

Jaipur, April 20 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals had an 87-run opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler but impressive performances by Lucknow Super Giants bowlers, led by Avesh Khan’s 3/25 and Marcus Stoinis’ 2/28 helped their team win by ten runs in an Ipl 2023 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, here on Wednesday.
At the mid-stage of the game, Rajasthan kept Lucknow to 154/7 despite Kyle Mayers making 51 and it looked like a below-par total on a two-paced pitch.
Till the 11th over, Rajasthan didn’t lose any wicket and seemed to be cruising towards the target. But Stoinis taking out both openers got the match in Lucknow’s favour as Rajasthan lost four wickets for 32 runs from overs 12-17. Lucknow bowlers used conditions and big leg-side boundary to dry up runs as required run-rate climbed up, resulting in Rajasthan eventually ending at 144/6 in 20 overs.

Jaipur, April 19 (Ians) A neat bowling performance helped Rajasthan Royals restrict Lucknow Super Giants to 154/7 despite Kyle Mayers’ fighting fifty in Match 26 of Ipl 2023 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, here on Wednesday.
On a pitch which has not been easy for stroke-play, Lucknow did not lose a wicket in the powerplay but made only 37 runs.
From there, Rajasthan bowlers, led by Ravichandran Ashwin’s 2/23 and a terrific last over from Sandeep Sharma, kept things tight. Despite some big overs, Lucknow never got the desired finishing kick, with Mayers being the standout performer though he struggled to time the ball for a large part of his stay at the crease.
Pushed into batting first, Lucknow had a sedate powerplay. With a hint of assistance for Rajasthan bowlers, as Trent Boult bowled a maiden opening over, Kl Rahul and Kyle Mayers had to be circumspect though they took a boundary each off Sandeep in the second over.

Ahmedabad, April 17 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals pacer Trent Boult has said that “hunger from the batting unit” took the team to a thrilling win over the defending champion Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (Ipl) match.
Rr was struggling at 55-4 at the halfway stage in front of exceptional bowling from Gt’s new-ball bowlers. However, a splendid show from captain Sanju Samson (60) and a batting blitz at the death from hit-man Shimron Hetmyer (56*) helped Royals record a three-wicket win over Titans on Sunday.
“We got some very talented batters on our side and I think the real positive is seeing guys stand up at different times. Different guys standing up at different times has helped us win the game from different situations. Jos (Buttler) is a massive player for us and I am sure he must be frustrated to miss out on some runs tonight. But the hunger from...

Ahmedabad, April 17 (Ians) Rajasthan Royals were literally in a no man’s land at 66/4 in 12 overs in pursuit of chasing down 178 against a Gujarat Titans bowling attack, who bowled 26 dot balls in the first six overs.
With 112 more runs off 48 balls, not many would have given them a chance for a victory. But captain Sanju Samson unleashed by taking 20 runs off Rashid Khan in the 13th over to eventually make 60 while Shimron Hetmyer smashed a whirlwind unbeaten 56 off just 26 balls to give Rajasthan an improbable three-wicket victory.
The stunning last-over heist also means Rajasthan retain their top spot on the points table with eight points. Samson and Hetmyer added a crucial stand of 59 runs off 27 balls, followed by the latter adding 47 runs off 20 deliveries with Dhruv Jurel to complete the chase with four balls to spare.
Mohammed Shami built pressure from the word go while troubling Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler.

Guwahati, April 8 (Ians) The first over in both innings of the Rajasthan Royals-Delhi Capitals clash in Ipl 2023 at the Barsapara Cricket Ground on Saturday literally made the difference between the two teams apparent.

That set the tone for Rajasthan’s 57-run victory over Delhi and propelled them to go on top of the ten-team points table. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler smashed half-centuries in a rollicking 98-run opening partnership, including slamming 14 boundaries in the first six overs.
Though DC clawed back with three quick wickets in the middle overs, Shimron Hetmyer provided for the finishing touch with 38 not out to propel Rajasthan to 199/4. In reply,...

Guwahati, April 8 (Ians) After top-scoring for Rajasthan Royals with a 51-ball 79 and helping post 199/4 against Delhi Capitals in an Ipl 2023 match, opener Jos Buttler feels his bowlers will have to bowl really well to defend the score on a great batting pitch, here.
“I cut my finger in the last game, but we’ve got a good doctor here with a few stitches and I actually felt fine to play. It’s obviously nice to wear (orange cap). Just glad to start the season well and get up and running. I think we’ve got a decent score on the board. It’s obviously a really good batting wicket with a fast outfield so we’ll have to bowl well to defend this,” Buttler said in a mid-innings chat with the broadcasters.
Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal shared a 98-run opening stand, slamming 14 boundaries in the first six overs to reach 68 runs in the powerplay.

Speedster Starc was the pick of Australia’s bowlers during the recent Odi series in India with eight wickets as the experienced quick intimidated white-ball specialist Suryakumar Yadav with a pair of golden ducks in the first two fixtures.
The left-arm quick now looms as Australia’s dangerman at the Cricket World Cup later this year after showing he remains a threat even in sub-continent conditions.
Starc has already claimed the most victims outright at the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales, after sharing the honour with Trent Boult in the 2015 tournament.

Hyderabad, April 1 (Ians) Sunday afternoon’s clash will see two former champions Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals face-off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. With equal firepower in both batting and bowling, stage is set for a high-octane clash between two teams that look strong on paper.
With Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading the side for his team’s opening game in Ipl 2023 as Aiden Markram is on international duty, he felt the bowling attack has a lot of experience in them, including tearaway pacer Umran Malik, whose stocks have risen since bursting through in 2021 edition of the tournament.
He also picked 22 wickets from 14 matches at an average of 20.18 and economy rate of 9.03, claiming one four-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul respectively in Ipl 2022, while playing an instrumental role in picking wickets for his franchise in the middle overs phase. He was also named as the emerging player of the season at the end of the competition.
