Not just for young players, but the stage of Indian Premier League has also proved to be a good platform for veterans of the game. There are several senior cricketers who didn’t get many opportunities or were unlucky in international cricket but are now making all the noise with their performance in Ipl. One such unlucky veteran is Dinesh Karthik, who is grabbing all the limelight with his batting in Ipl 2024.
Karthik made his debut in international cricket as a complete batsman and a wicketkeeper. He proved his mettle, but unfortunately, he was a bit unlucky and didn’t get many opportunities to showcase his full potential. Here, in Ipl 2024, he’s playing under the captaincy of Faf du Plessis for Royal Challengers Bangalore and is one of the most valuable players for the team. Even...

Virat Kohli has been associated with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Rcb) Ipl team since 2008. In 2013, he was assigned the captain of the team. From 2008 to now, Kohli’s team has played quite well in many matches. However, the team never won an Ipl in these 16 years.
Virat Kohli’s Rcb team has finished the game as runner-ups three times —2009, 2011, and 2016. Unfortunately, despite reaching so close to victory, the team never won the Ipl title. Even in the Ipl 2024, the team is struggling to give a good performance. Out of the six matches they have played, Rcb managed to win only one match.
In 2021, Virat Kohli decided not to continue as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team. Currently, the team is led by South African cricketer, Faf du Plessis. Despite not winning any Ipl titles, in a past interview, Virat shared that...

Virat Kohli Has Been A Part Of Royal Challengers Bengaluru Since 2008(Photo Credit –Facebook/Twitter)
Virat Kohli is without a doubt one of the best cricketers in the world right now. With millions of fans worshipping him, professional cricketers and colleagues consider him one of the best. His association with the Indian Premier League goes back to 2008 when he was fresh off his Under 19 World Cup win. Since, then Kohli has become the face of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, proving his loyalty over the years. But did you know Ipl fans had once lashed out at the team for retaining Kohli and letting Rahul Dravid go?
We will have to turn the pages on this bit of Ipl history back to 2010, two years after the Ipl started. As the league was gaining momentum, so was Kohli. Still fresh and young to the world of Ipl, Kohli was beginning his run machine phase.

Ahmedabad, May 27 (Ians) After his third century of the Ipl 2023 season, a majestic 129 off 60 balls, helped Gujarat Titans reach the title clash with a 62-run win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, opener Shubman Gill said hitting three sixes in the 12th over off Akash Madhwal gave him a feeling that the day was for him to thrive at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
In that 21-run 12th over of Gujarat’s batting, Gill picked up a flick beautifully and muscled a pull for back-to-back sixes off Madhwal, and followed it up with a flick off the wrists to collect third six of the over.

New Delhi, May 26 (Ians) Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody believes that the absence of Rajat Patidar exposed Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (Rcb) batting and had put an enormous amount of pressure on their ‘Big Three’ — Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis during the Ipl 2023 season.
Patidar did not feature in Rcb’s first game of the season due to heel injury and later ruled out of the tournament owing to the same.
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, Moody highlighted how Kohli, Maxwell, and Faf handled the immense pressure caused by Patidar’s absence remarkably well and performed admirably. But the team struggled to identify a suitable player for the vacant batting position throughout the tournament.
“Rcb was challenged right from the beginning of the tournament when Patidar was made unavailable, the key figure at number three. It exposed their batting and put an enormous amount of pressure on their big three.

Bengaluru, May 22 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach Sanjay Bangar believes things just were ‘not clicking’ for veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik to bring out his famed finishing knocks for the franchise in Ipl 2023.
Karthik’s failure to get finishing kicks for the team in Ipl 2023 hurt Bangalore a lot, apart from meagre returns from other middle-order batters too. In Ipl 2022, Karthik hit 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33 in 16 matched and helped the side get desired finishing touches to their innings, which also paved his way into India’s squad for 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.

New Delhi, May 22 (Ians) Virat Kohli (101*) pulled off a string of records en-route his second successive century of the Ipl 2023 against Gujarat Titans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday night, but Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) failed to make it to the play-offs of the tournament as Titans opener Shubman Gill (104*) had other ideas on mind, and helped his side pull off a brilliant six-wicket win with five balls to spare, and leave the home supporters stunned.
Gill not only matched Kohli shot for shot, he ended up with a better strike rate that was crucial to his team’s near perfect chase. He was ably supported by Vijay Shankar, who came in as an impact player and hammered 53 off 35 balls. His innings was laced with seven boundaries and a couple of sixes.

Bengaluru, May 22 (Ians) After crashing out of Ipl 2023 through a six-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans despite making 197/5, thanks to Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 101, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis was quick in admitting that the side consistently missed couple of runs from the middle-order throughout their run in the tournament.
In the tournament, du Plessis, Kohli and Glenn Maxwell were highly touted as the big three for scoring a bulk of runs for the franchise and leading them to victories. With no Rajat Patidar in the batting line-up due to a heel injury which needed surgical intervention in England, the likes of Dinesh Karthik, Mahipal Lomror, Anuj Rawat and Shahbaz Ahmed failed to get big runs consistently and were unable to provide the required support to top three batters.

Bengaluru, May 21 (Ians) Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya has won the toss and elected to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final league match of Ipl 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. But just three minutes before the start of play, rain arrived again, leading to pitch being covered quickly.
With Mumbai defeating bottom-ranked Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium by eight wickets, thanks to an unbeaten 47-ball century from Cameron Green and now at fourth place with 16 points, Bangalore have to beat table-toppers Gujarat to get into the playoffs.
After winning the toss, Hardik said his playing eleven is unchanged from their last game, where they won by 34 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad and decision to bowl first came due to the weather.
“Just want to know how much we are going to chase. For us to win games and continue the momentum, I believe in good habits.

The spat, which started as an exchange of verbals between Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq during the match at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow escalated into a full-fledged altercation with Gambhir and his former Delhi Ranji teammate Virat Kohli coming face to face and needed to be pulled away by Lsg skipper K.L Rahul and some other players.
In the end, though there was no spillage of blood on the ground, the confrontation between two of Indian cricket’s greats left a bitter aftertaste for many fans and Ipl stakeholders.
As a result of that flagrant confrontation, the most controversial and ugliest incident witnessed this season in Ipl, the cash-rich T20 league’s Governing Council handed the players hefty fines — both Kohli and Gambhir were docked 100 percent of their match fee while Naveen-ul-Haq was fined 50 percent of his fee.

Jaipur, May 14 (Ians) After Rajasthan Royals’ (Rr) crushing 112-run defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb), captain Sanju Samson said that it could’ve been a very tight match if the hosts had a decent Power-play.

Jaipur, May 14 (Ians) Half-centuries by skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell and a cameo of unbeaten 29 off 11 balls from Anuj Rawat guided Royal Challengers (Rcb) to a competitive total of 171/5 against Rajasthan Royals (Rr) in an Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, here on Sunday.
Skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli got Rcb to a decent start and stitched 50 runs opening partnership. When Glenn Maxwell walked in to bat at No.3, he struck a few lusty blows and raised a 69-run partnership for the second wicket. Both the in-form batters notched up their fifties.
Rr were quick to pull things back in the death overs as the visitors lost three wickets in quick succession. Just when it looked as if Rr will finish the innings on a high, Rawat’s cameo powered the visitors to a competitive total

Jaipur, May 14 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) won the toss and elected to bat first against Rajasthan Royals (Rr) in an Ipl 2023 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, here on Sunday.
Rcb captain Faf du Plessis said Wayne Parnell came in for Josh Hazlewood and Michael Bracewell replaced Wanindu Hasaranga in the playing XI.
“We will have a bat first. The conditions might favor that, looks like a dry wicket. It is very clear from here on for us, that is not a bad thing sometimes. We need to execute better. 3-4 guys are putting their hand up every game, we need a bit more probably to cash in on some good positions. Wins are important, net run rate is not something we can bother about now,” Du Plessis said at the toss.
On the other hand, Rr captain Sanju Samson said Adam Zampa came in for Trent Boult in the playing XI.

The left-hander will look to continue his red-hot form as Rajasthan Royals host Royal Challengers Bangalore in the day game at Jaipur on Sunday. It also will be a battle for the Orange Cap between Rcb captain Faf du Plessis (576) and Jaiswal during the game.
“The selectors must be closely monitoring Jaiswal and he will soon play for India. The best thing about him is the way he’s raised his graph. There is power in his game, there’s timing. He has very bright future prospects,...

New Delhi, May 12 (Ians) With 576 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 157.8, there is no doubt that Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis has been the stand-out batter of Ipl 2023. In a batting line-up where Bangalore’s batting has been hugely dependent on him, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, du Plessis being the upfront enforcer in power-play has been refreshing to witness, according to former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith.
“He’s played so well and been great to watch. He’s really upped his aggression at the top of the order. He’s 38 right now and is looking very fit and has managed to adapt and keep up with youngsters in terms of the way there is need to play. We spoke about not having anchor batters, and he’s turned himself into an attacking, dynamic batter at the top of the order,” said Smith, an Ipl expert for JioCinema,...

Mumbai, May 10 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik was feeling unwell after getting out following a 17-ball 30 cameo against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede on Tuesday and therefore did not keep wickets during the Mumbai innings.
The 37-year old Karthik was seen bowing and coughing as he walked off the pitch after getting out. He nearly vomited in the field.
After the match, Rcb head coach and former India batsman Sanjay Bangar said Karthik was not feeling well but still went out to bat. He said he vomited after coming back to the dugout as he was feeling sick.
“During the course of his innings, Dinesh started feeling unwell. He was a little bit dehydrated and he also vomited after he was dismissed. There is enough gap for us, maybe 3-4 days, and with medicines, he should be fine,” said Bangar in the post-match press conference.
