De La Soul’s surviving members, Posdnuos and Maseo, teamed with Prince Paul, who produced their debut, 3 Feet High and Rising, on Thursday to celebrate the record’s 35th anniversary on The Late Show. To mark the occasion, the trio showed how to “cook a 35-year-old dish” — the album’s Steely Dan–saturated single, “Eye Know” — as if it were a stew.
Wearing neon aprons that evoke the album’s cover art, Pos told the crowd, “We have some simple ingredients, and what we need to do is start with whistles.

After working as a musician for several decades, Pink is bound to have a song or two that she dislikes. She revealed that she had some regrets about the way a song might have hurt her husband. The song she regretted more is one that many of her fans likely paid little mind. Pink shared why a song recorded for the show SpongeBob SquarePants was a mistake.
Pink said a song she recorded in 2009 was a mistake
When asked about the most regrettable singles of her career, Pink admitted that there are many songs she no longer loves. The first that came to mind was “True Love,” a song she released in 2013. She opens the song with the lyrics, “Sometimes I hate every single stupid word you say/ Sometimes I wanna slap you in your whole face.”

In a bittersweet moment, De La Soul stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, March 16th, to perform “Stakes Is High” from their classic 1996 album of the same name. They were backed by The Roots, with Black Thought standing in for the late Trugoy the Dove’s verses on the track.
Questlove and the rest of The Roots band’s instrumental prowess blended perfectly with De La Soul’s criticism of hip-hop culture in 1996. Posdnuos reminded fans old and new of his command of the mic and sharp lyrics during the nearly six-minute performance, while Black Thought recited Trugoy’s words to perfection. Toward the end of the track, Posdnuos went acapella with his final verse. Watch the replay below.

If you're looking to pinpoint the greatest year in hip-hop, it's going to start with a one, followed by a nine, another nine, and end with a number no higher than five. The genre that grew out of Bronx house parties thrown by sonic pioneers like DJ Kool Herc, and survived the faddish exploitation of the early and mid-1980s had finally come of age. Obviously, there were groundbreaking LPs released prior to the '90s, but it wasn't until we entered the final decade of the millennium that explorers like Hank Shocklee, Dr. Dre, DJ Premier, and Prince Paul refined their sounds to bring hard-hitting East Coast beats and blunted West Coast G-funk grooves to the ears of audiophiles across the country.
Hollywood was listening. They weren't necessarily getting it, but they were listening. Mid-'80s films like "Breakin'," "Beat Street" and "Krush Groove" captured the excitement of the...

David Jude Jolicoeur, who passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12 at the age of 54, helped revolutionize hip-hop and change the course of popular music. It’s why he’s being mourned so widely in the rap community today, and far beyond it as well. As one-third of De La Soul, alongside Kelvin “Posdnous” Mercer and DJ Vincent “Maseo” Mason, the Haitian American musician and producer who adopted names like “Jude,” “Trugoy the Dove,” “Plug 2,” and, finally, just “Dave” expanded the art form in ways not seen before or since. Joseph Quinn started his professional acting journey in the early 2010s, but it would take a few years before he started seeing his hard work really pay off. He got his first big break in 2015 when he was cast as Arthur Havisham in the TV series Dickensian. That role helped create other opportunities for him, and Joseph became a fixture on the small screen. Most people will recognize him most for playing Prince Paul in Catherine the Great and Eddie Munson in Stranger Things. Gorillaz recruited Schoolboy Q to honor Pac-Man on the animated outfit’s latest Song Machine track, “Pac-Man,” which arrives just weeks after the 40th anniversary of the arcade classic.
The song opens with Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn lacing his low voice over a thick beat that recalls the heyday of the G-funk era. The instrumentals get an added punch-up when Schoolboy Q first takes over, although the beat switches subtly again as the rapper glides over its woozy outro.

Dan The Automator, aka Daniel Nakamura, knows a thing or two about setting a mood. The Bay Area-based producer has worked on projects such as Gorillaz’s debut album, Handsome Boy Modeling School (with Prince Paul) and multiple projects with rapper Kool Keith. As a nice change of pace, I am finally reviewing an album without the threat of violent reprisal. This time around there was no James Zahn with a rubber hose looming over me, and no Doctor Raven throwing the CD case at me and running away. Recently on the Fangoria Musick MySpace page, a reader asked why we don’t cover hip-hop and rap. I thought that was a good question -there’s certainly enough gore and violence in rap to make it dark and edifying. Also, there are a few rap acts that I enjoy immensely, but they’re older and not adequate representations of what the genre is currently doing. By and large, modern rap -like country --makes my stomach turn with disgust and contempt. It seems like there really aren’t that many good rappers left, and of those that remain, most focus on materialism. Gone is the lyrical brilliance of N.

"We didn't want to make a normal movie," Frank Henenlotter said of himself and producer/co-writer/rapper R.A. "The Rugged Man" Thorburn, introducing Bad Biology at the 2008 Philadelphia Film Festival. "We wanted something that was just wrong." And to paraphrase the popular saying, if going against the usual genre grain is wrong, who wants to be right? Bad Biology marks the welcome and long-overdue return (after 16 years without a feature) of one of the most unique and committed visions in independent horror, one whose underground sensibilities clearly haven't mellowed with age. If anything, Bad Biology is even more deranged than his previous works, and where sex was just one element or an undercurrent in the likes of Frankenhooker and Brain Damage, here the carnal takes center stage.

It's Thanksgiving week, meaning the holidays are actually here now, in all their actualness. But even more exciting - the new holiday menus are in at all of our theaters! We've got turkey burgers, fried brie, samosas, and apple pecan turnovers on the holiday special menu, but it doesn't stop there. The innovations keep on going on the inside of the menu, too, with the return of this summer's batwings as well as brand new fried pork chops. And... Christmas beers are in! Oh, and of course we've got all sorts of Thanksgiving menu specials this Thursday, too, including complete turkey dinners at all of our theaters. In other words - don't fill up with your family meal, because that's sooooo just the beginning.

Review by: Bob Doto
Rating: 8.5 out of 10
Frank Henenlotter: 2008 NY Horror Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient.
Bad Biology: Best Feature Film, Best Special Effects.
Unlike zombie films where agreed upon laws and rules govern the plot’s trajectory (head-shot = death, bite = infection), Henenlotter’s films are seemingly lawless, and therefore completely rhizomic and anarchistic in nature. This means that Henelotter’s films obey only the laws of Henenlotter and therefore can project out in any and all directions. If Romero is a Puritan then Henenlotter is the antinomian par excellence.
Try this: Henenlotter’s latest film Bad Biology is the story of Jennifer (Charlee Danielson) who is blessed/cursed with having clitorii buried throughout her body (seven alone inside her vagina), which allows her to experience seven times the pleasure of any other woman.
