With the news that Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) and William Petersen (Gil Grissom) would not be returning for CSI: Vegas Season 2, there have been plenty of questions about how they will be written out.
Their arcs were seemingly complete at the end of CSI: Vegas Season 1, and TV Line premiered a new clip that highlights why they will not be seen on the second season.
The two characters are sailing somewhere around the Arctic Circle, according to CSI Joshua Folsom (Matt Lauria).
"They're on a boat above the Arctic Circle, so yeah, she probably dialled them up on a sat phone asking all about you, Chris," Joshua is heard saying in the clip to Chris (Jay Lee).
The aforementioned clip finds Chris wondering what the returning Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) had to say about the new team.
However, it sounds like Catherine will be coming back to the team with...

Where in the world are Sara Sidle and Gil Grissom when Season 2 of CSI: Vegas opens up? TVLine’s exclusive sneak peek at the new season has the answer to that question.
Though both Jorja Fox and William Petersen reprised their original CSI roles in Season 1, the latter had only signed on for that initial 10-episode run (but stayed on as an executive producer). Fox subsequently announced that she would not continue on either, explaining, “I personally just can’t split Sara and Grissom up again…. Wherever they go, they belong together.”

It’s official: Another cast member from the original CSI run is returning for the sequel. Marg Helgenberger will be a series regular in Season 2 of CSI: Vegas, according to Deadline. Her deal is for one year. This news comes one week after it was first revealed that she could be reprising her role as Catherine Willows. Paula Newsome (Maxine Roby), Matt Lauria (Joshua Folsom), and Mandeep Dhillon (Allie Rajan), who played the new team of CSIs in Season 1, will all be back. The only new cast member not returning is Mel Rodriguez, who played the medical examiner, Hugo Ramirez. Season 1 also featured the returns of William Petersen and Jorja Fox as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, as well as Wallace Langham as David Hodges. CSI: Vegas is going to look different for its second season, and not just because it will be without the two characters connecting it to the original series, Gil Grissom (William Petersen) and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox). One of the new cast members, Mel Rodriguez (Chief Medical Examiner Hugo Ramirez) will not be returning as a series regular, TVLine reports. It sounds like he could guest star in the future. The new team for the sequel series also includes Paula Newsome as Maxine Roby, Matt Lauria as Joshua Folsom, and Mandeep Dhillon as Allie Rajan. Rodriguez’s exit comes after showrunner Jason Tracey had told TV Insider of his hope to “populate the world [of the morgue] more fully and tell more stories down there” in Season 2 after the finale. That’s “a fascinating place,” he said. “I did a morgue pilot once upon a time and did a lot of research down there.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for CSI: Vegas Episode 8 “Pipe Cleaner.”] Maxine Roby (Paula Newsome) may have been demoted and suspended from the Crime Lab, but she could have still found the break they need in the season-long case to prove Anson Wix (Jamie McShane) is the one behind framing David Hodges (Wallace Langham) for evidence tampering. In the latest CSI: Vegas episode, she continues to work from home, enlisting Joshua Folsom’s (Matt Lauria) help. By the end, they’ve found the link between Anson Wix and the hitman he hired to go after Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) in the premiere. And if he doesn’t help them take down Wix, well, Maxine took a photo of him in the middle of a drug deal. “It gives us a lot of leverage,” Lauria tells TV Insider. What’s next? He teases what’s ahead in the final two episodes of the season. How big of...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for CSI: Vegas Episode 6 “Funhouse.”] While Joshua Folsom (Matt Lauria) and Allie Rajan (Mandeep Dhillon) are investigating a bit of a horror show — murders at a clown-themed hotel! — those back at the Crime Lab are in the middle of their own nightmare: lockdown, potentially with the prime suspect in the seasons-long evidence tampering case in their midst. The latest CSI: Vegas first points the finger Chris Park’s (Jay Lee) way, when they trace back chemicals used to clean up part of the crime scene of Martin Kline’s murder — he was working with someone — to him. And he took all the grenades in the lab without signing them out. But, it turns out, one of theirs wasn’t used to kill Kline and someone stole those chemicals from him at a crime scene. In fact, it all leads back to none other than Anson Wix (Jamie McShane), the lawyer heading the class action.
