The Alexa 35 is booming! As IndieWire released its camera survey, it seems that the new Super 35 flagship from Arri is among the most popular cameras chosen by Sundance 2024’s filmmakers. The Arri 35 causes the notable Super 35 format to go back to the game. Furthermore, the Arri Alexa Mini is the most popular camera five years in a row. Watch the segmentation.
Sundance 2024’s Narratives: Camera Manufacturers’ chart
As you can see in the chart, Super 35 is the dominant format. As we thought that large sensors would pull down the notable Super 35, it’s not as simple as that, since the Arri 35 kicks the Super 35 to the popularity line again. Additionally, this is the first time that we have seen a solid presence of the Arri 35 in our charts. Head to head with the old (and mighty) Alexa Mini, the Arri 35 is climbing strong and may become the most preferred camera among storytellers.

Disney+ Oscar nominated documentary short “Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó” about two Asian grandmothers, is set to debut on the streamer and Hulu on Feb. 9.
The 17-minute film directed by Taiwanese American filmmaker Sean Wang follows the daily, often humorous, lives of his elderly maternal and paternal grandmothers who are best friends and live together. The short doc premiered at the 2023 South by Southwest Film Festival, where it took home the grand jury prize and audience award.
Wang began filming his grandmothers in 2021 when he lived with them for a brief stint between a move from New York City to Los Angeles.
“It was very much a transitory period of my life,” Wang says. “But in those few months of getting to live with them I got to really experience their joy and their mundane rhythms of life.”
In November Disney Branded Television acquired the film, which features dialogue in both Mandarin and English.

A young child faces a strange presence in the aftermath of his father’s death. Years later, after he has grown up to become an adult, that presence returns once more in the form of a liquid spectral doppelgänger. Director Alex Cook’s music video/short film hybrid Undertow thematically and narratively captures the dark yet warming essence of Son Lux’s singular music and is grounded by an impressive central performance from Jongman Kim, who carries the emotional and psychological weight of the protagonist’s unsettling history into each scene. Dn caught up with Cook to talk through his continuing fruitful collaboration with Son Lux, covering everything from the creation of the graceful VFX work, the inclination to capture the murky uncertainty of contemporary life in his screenplay, and the challenge of managing production when a key crew member had to be replaced at the eleventh hour.

Room for Tom Bombadil could easily be found in Amazon's Lord Of The Rings prequel TV series. Could this be his on-screen chance?
In a letter to the writer and poet Naomi Mitchison, who had been proof-reading The Lord Of The Rings for him, J. R. R. Tolkien described Tom Bombadil as an "enigma", "intentionally" so, and admitted that the character was "not an important person to the narrative" but added that he would not have left him in "if he did not have some kind of function". Bombadil represents, Tolkien suggested, "a natural pacifist view", a character who has access to immense power but chooses not to wield it, but rather to observe and not to participate in the wars around him. He had a symbolic importance to the overall story (not allegorical – a point both Tolkien and his friend C. S. Lewis were quite firm on,...

To mark the 20th anniversary of Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s series premiere, TVLine spoke to a few of its key players. Our final installment: star Nicholas Brendon.
If Buffy Summers was Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s strong arm and Willow Rosenberg was its brain, Xander Harris was its heart.
And as that heart — or the “scared guy with a rock,” as Xander calls himself in Season 2’s “Becoming” — portrayer Nicholas Brendon never wanted the character to have any special abilities, he tells TVLine.

Episode 26: “Variations On Relations”
Written by Mark Frost & Harley Peyton, Directed by Jonathan Sanger
Airdate April 11th, 1991
The episode opens with Coop, Truman, Andy and Hawk returning to Owl Cave for further exploration of the petroglyph they discovered last episode, but when they get there they find someone’s already done the work for them. Part of the wall has crumbled away, revealing an even larger, more detailed petroglyph than they originally found. Hawk notices a boot print in the dirt and says it matches the one he found outside the power station the night it exploded, which means the person who was here and who unearthed this larger petroglyph was Earle. Jokers, circus masters and demonic dolls. Which TV characters terrify you? Den Of Geek asked its writers that very question…
The subconscious is a terrible place; dark, mysterious and peopled by spectres from the past. As a bit of a laugh then, we sent our writers journeying into theirs and asked them to drag out any TV terrors they found lurking in the shadows.
Some television fears had been ensconced there since childhood, others were more recent tenants. Some were morally terrifying; human beings with icy hearts capable of atrocities, others were simply… atrocities.
Join us as we count down in order of terror from the sort-of-creepy to the downright terrifying, the 50 TV characters that, for whatever reason, give our writers chills. It’s by no means an exhaustive list, so feel free to fill in gaps by adding your own peculiar television nightmares below…
