Virat Kohli Has Been A Part Of Royal Challengers Bengaluru Since 2008(Photo Credit –Facebook/Twitter)
Virat Kohli is without a doubt one of the best cricketers in the world right now. With millions of fans worshipping him, professional cricketers and colleagues consider him one of the best. His association with the Indian Premier League goes back to 2008 when he was fresh off his Under 19 World Cup win. Since, then Kohli has become the face of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, proving his loyalty over the years. But did you know Ipl fans had once lashed out at the team for retaining Kohli and letting Rahul Dravid go?
We will have to turn the pages on this bit of Ipl history back to 2010, two years after the Ipl started. As the league was gaining momentum, so was Kohli. Still fresh and young to the world of Ipl, Kohli was beginning his run machine phase.

Lauderhill, Florida, Aug 25 (Ians) The Texas Chargers registered a big win on an important day, as they defeated the Atlanta Riders by 22 runs on Friday. The Chargers were the dominant unit on the day, as they swatted away the challenge from the Riders with relative ease.
Batting first, the Texas Chargers got off to a good start as Mukhtar Ahmed took the attack to the bowlers, while Mohammad Hafeez played the waiting game. Ahmed got 17 from 7 before being dismissed.
Soon after, Hafeez was packed off for 2 but from then on in, it became the Ben Dunk show. The captain led from the front, while the likes of Thisara Perera (2) and Upul Tharanga (9) fell cheaply as they looked to accelerate.
Dunk, who was hitting it cleanly, got to his fifty in the seventh over, before Elias Sunny had his number. Dunk got 53 from 22 balls, setting up the platform for a good...

Lauderhill (US), Aug 23 (Ians) After Sohail Khan’s four wickets in four deliveries, Jonathan Carter turned on the style with the bat as New York Warriors wrapped up a comprehensive 6-wicket win over the Atlanta Riders in US Masters T20 match.
Carter completed the chase with two sixes of the final two deliveries of the game and Sohail was awarded the Player of the Match.
Asked to bat first, the Atlanta Riders’ openers Robin Uthappa and Lendl Simmons started off things in a steady manner. The duo took the Riders to the 50-run mark in the fifth over, having smashed 3 sixers and 4 boundaries between themselves in that time.
The openers, well set by now, were setting up the platform to tee off in the final few overs, even as the New York Warriors bowlers tried to dry up the runs. By the 7th over, the Riders were at 72/0 with Simmons...

Lauderhill, (USA), Aug 14 (Ians) Former India batter Robin Uthappa believes that the selection of young batter Tilak Varma in the Odi World Cup squad will be a topic of discussion among the national selectors and team management.
Varma, who is yet to make his Odi debut, has emerged as India’s standout performer in the T20I series during his inaugural international tour. His remarkable performance has garnered widespread appreciation, amassing 173 runs across the 5-match T20I series in the West Indies. His seamless adaptation to the international stage has not gone unnoticed.
“Yeah. Certainly, he will be discussed by the selectors as well, because you want to look at someone who can serve the team for a long time. He seems like he’s got a pretty good head on his shoulders, and he goes about his business in a very diligent way,” said Uthappa while speaking to Jio Cinema...

New Delhi, Aug 8 (Ians) Former India batter Robin Uthappa believes that with the national side getting many quality players, they need to see the direction of their approach in the shortest format, especially with the Men’s T20 World Cup set to be played in West Indies and USA in less than a year now.
Ever since India won the inaugural 2007 Men’s T20 World Cup in South Africa, of which Uthappa was a member of the M.S. Dhoni-led squad, the side is yet to win the coveted trophy, despite the creation of the Indian Premier League (Ipl) a year later.
Their next-best finish has been being runners-up in the 2014 edition of the tournament in Bangladesh, while their outdated brand of cricket in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup saw them crash out in the semifinal stage after being handed a ten-wicket thrashing by eventual champions England.

New Delhi, Aug 8 (Ians) Former India batter Robin Uthappa believes that Sanju Samson is not being used to his optimal best in the T20I format due to a lack of role clarity and is hoped that communication lines are clear with him on batting in an unfamiliar position in the ongoing series against the West Indies.
Samson has often been used as a floater in the India T20I batting order, meaning that he hasn’t got a fixed batting position. Being constantly shifted up and down the order means Samson, who got a run of batting at No.4 just three times in 2020, is yet to get his rhythm in the format so far.
The right-handed batter has found tremendous success as a top-order batter for Rajasthan Royals in the Ipl but has made only 12 and 7 so far while batting at number six and five in the two T20Is in West Indies.

Harare, July 27 (Ians) Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa will welcome the opportunity of coaching with open hands an Indian Premier League (Ipl) franchise as the Ipl stalwart “knows” how good teams in the T20 tournament play.
Uthappa, who has won the Ipl twice (once with Kolkata Knight Riders and the other with Chennai Super Kings), has no hesitation in giving back to the cash-rich league in a different role and will “certainly consider” any opportunity if it arises.
“It depends, I would certainly love to be involved with the team. If opportunities do come, I’ll certainly consider it. Yeah (coach), I would love to get involved in setting up…Maybe cricket operations, or director of cricket, where I feel like, I know what it takes or give a team the best chance to win the game,” Uthappa told Ians after his brilliant innings helped Harae Hurricanes beat Durban Qalandars in Zim Afro T10 League.

Uthappa rolled back the clock and scored freely to put on a scintillating display with the bat, reaching a half-century.
Batting first, the Harare Hurricanes openers were in fine form from the get-go and took the attack to the Durban Qalandars. Both Robin Uthappa and Regis Chakabva were dealing with boundaries in the initial stages of the innings, and the Qalandars were finding it tough to apply the brakes.
The duo raced off the mark and very soon completed the half-century stand and were looking set to build on that and post a massive total.

Against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai had Devon Conway and Shivam Dube making fifties at a strike-rate above 180. They were also helped by Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu and Moeen Ali striking above 180 in their cameos to take Chennai to 226/6, which was enough for a win at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In their home match against Delhi Capitals, none of the Chennai batters reached 30 runs, but were aided by small bursts of 20s from six batters to get a win in their pocket. This trend is not limited to Chennai alone – Punjab Kings chased down 201 against them with multiple cameos while Mumbai Indians chased down 213 against Rajasthan Royals, thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s 55, followed by short yet sharp knocks from Tim David, Cameron Green and Tilak Varma.

Moving on from experiencing failure on a given day on the field hasn’t always been easy, with the confidence and spirit of athletes taking a huge hit, especially with feelings of pain, agony and sadness taking centre-stage in the mind and heart.
In Ipl 2023, Gujarat Titans left-arm pacer Yash Dayal encountered failure on-field when Rinku Singh hit him for five consecutive sixes in the final over to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to an improbable victory in Ahmedabad.
Visuals of a downcast Dayal on his haunches, with tears in eyes and being consoled by team-mates made for a sharp contrast with Rinku being celebrated by his playing mates. After the game ended, Dayal received tremendous support from the franchise in-person as well as on social media to overcome the heartbreak of not being able to defend 29 runs in the final over.

New Delhi, May 2 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a stellar performance to beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in a low-scoring encounter of the Ipl 2023 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Monday night.
Batting first, Rcb mustered 126/9 in 20 overs in a game that was briefly disrupted by rain. Skipper Faf du Plessis emerged the top scorer with 44 while his opening partner Virat Kohli contributed 31. The duo put on 62 runs in nine overs.
Rcb’s bowlers fired on all cylinders after the innings break and bowled out Lsg for 108 in 19.5 overs on a pitch that was sluggish and made life difficult for batsmen. The fact that Lsg skipper Kl Rahul was injured during fielding and came on to bat only after the fall of nine wickets, and his team needing 24 off 8 balls, did not help matters. New Delhi, Feb 19 (Ians) Former India opener Gautam Gambhir, who is currently a part of the Border-Gavaskar Commentary panel, on Sunday revealed that Rohit Sharma was the only captain who troubled him the most in the Indian Premier League (Ipl).
During the commentary stint in the second Test between India and Australia on Sunday, Gambhir was asked to pick any two players that he would have wanted in his Kkr squad at the time.
“It’s a difficult question, but the answer is very simple. If I have to pick two players, I have an easy answer. My first player would be Rohit Sharma, and the second would be Yuvraj Singh. I didn’t need any other player apart from these two. I’m not saying we would be having a perfect team, but we would’ve won more than two titles (if we had these two players),” Gambhir told Star Sports.

New Delhi, Jan 19 (Ians) Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa thinks in the time to come, the One-day International (Odi) format will dwindle, leaving only T20s and Tests in international cricket. He added that T10 could become a great format to introduce non-traditional nations to the game.
“I think cricket is evolving and we as human beings are very rigid in the sense as a society, cricket is evolving, and it is extending to the point perhaps even in the direction of football that happened so many decades ago and in time you will see more leagues than international cricket. Right now, at this current Ftp cycle, there seems to be a lot of cricket, international cricket is still there but you can see the rise of T20 cricket coming in.”

Dubai, Jan 18 (Ians) Dubai Capitals opener Robin Uthappa on Wednesday urged cricket lovers and fans in the UAE to cheer for the team across the three venues — Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah during the ongoing ILT20 tournament.
The Dubai Capitals fought hard against Gulf Giants at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, but stumbled to a six-wicket loss at the ILT20 on Monday. However, the Capitals have a great opportunity to put things right as they will meet the Giants in their next match of the competition at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
“We’ve just played them and they beat us. There’s information shared on both ends. But we are going to focus on our own strengths and keep the opposition out of the equation. However, we are also going to keep the information about how the Gulf Giants play at hand and utilise it when required,” Uthappa said,...
