- The 1991 album, "Temple of the Dog", was made in tribute to Wood by the members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam (two of whom played with him in Mother Love Bone). The tribute was an idea of Wood's friend Chris Cornell, and the album sold over 1 million copies. Alice in Chains' "Would?" was also written for Wood.

- In 2016, Temple of the Dog, (the tribute band formed by members of Soundgarden and Wood's band Mother Love Bone) performed together for the first time since the release of the album in 1991. The concerts opened with a recording of Wood's piano work, and a photo of him was displayed in a screen on the stage. They also covered several of Wood's songs with Mother Love Bone.
