Tomasz Golka

Composer, conductor, and violinist Tomasz Golka was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1975. In 2003 he won First Prize at the Eduardo Mata International Conducting Competition. Since then he has conducted around the world, including the Seattle Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonic, Fort Worth Symphony, Baden Baden Philharmonic, Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra, the OFUNAM in Mexico City, and many others. He served as Chief Conductor of Colombia National Symphony in Bogotá, Music Director of the Lubbock Symphony, and since 2010 is Music Director of Riverside Philharmonic - an orchestra made up of the top Hollywood studio musicians.
He is a composer of both concert and film music. In 2019 he scored the short film "Shaking Cup." He was Composer-in-residence of the 2018 Boulder International Chamber Music Competition. His works have been performed by El Paso Symphony, California Symphony, and many others.
He hold's Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Rice University, where he studied violin with Sergiu Luca and Kenneth Goldsmith. His conducting teachers were Gustav Meier at the Peabody Conservatory and David Effron at Indiana University. He holds a Certificate in Film Scoring from UCLA Extension, where he was the recipient of the prestigious BMI/Jerry Goldsmith Film Scoring Scholarship. He was a conducting fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival (2006) and the Aspen Music Festival (2002).
