Megaplatinum rock stalwarts Def Leppard and Journey are gearing up to hit the road for a North American summer stadium tour starting July 6 in St. Louis. The 23-show jaunt runs through September 8 in Denver and will feature fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller and his band on the bulk of the dates, with Cheap Trick or Heart on the others.
The trek will hit Citi Field in metro New York on August 7 and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on August 25, both featuring Miller. See the full itinerary below.
The two headliners have toured together over the decades, but this is their first co-starring stadium affair. Def Leppard hit the huge U.S. and Canadian venues in 2022 for a Covid-delayed tour with Mötley Crüe in 2022.
San Francisco-based Journey has moved more than 49 million albums in the U.S. alone, paced by their 15 million-selling 1988 Greatest Hits.

Lil Uzi Vert is one of the most ambitious rappers of their generation, a true-blue astral traveler who sees the form’s traditions as a matrix to warp in unexpected ways. Their goal is the sort of mental and emotional liberation achievable only through absolute stimulation: the most colors, the biggest sounds, the hardest raps conceivable. Their first two LPs, 2017’s Luv Is Rage 2 and 2020’s Eternal Atake, showed remarkable progress in this aim. They pushed and pulled various strands of contemporary hip-hop — blown-out Soundcloud beats, cavernous psychedelia, flows from...

Alice Cooper has formally announced his new album, Road, out August 25th. In anticipation, he’s shared the lead single, “I’m Alice.”
As the album title implies, Cooper brought in his touring band to cut the new LP, injecting a concert-like energy to the recordings. For example, “I’m Alice” is a raucous number with fiery axework from lead guitarist Nita Strauss, and acts as a theme song of sorts: “I’m Alice – I’m the master of madness; the sultan of surprise!”
“For Road, I wanted the band to be involved in the foundation of all the songs,” said Cooper in a press release. “I only see these guys when we’re on the road. So, I wanted them to be as tight as they are for the show but on all new material. When you have a band this good, I believe in showing it off, and...

Origins is a recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, former CoSign McKinley Dixon takes us through the title track of his forthcoming album.
Chicago-based rapper McKinley Dixon reveals the majesty of his new album with its name alone: Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!? goes the title, with exclamation points that seem to say, “It’s that good, can you believe it?” and a concluding question mark that feels like a knowing wink and nudge. But it’s also a direct reference to Toni Morrison’s significant trilogy, and the album’s title track, which features Ms. Jaylin Brown, doubles down on the enveloping love that the title suggests.
Indeed, the former Consequence CoSign uses “Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?” as a brand new thesis statement — one he calls “a familial affair in all senses.” Though it’s the title track and carries...

It seems like everyone these days is talking about the Internet. Maybe it’s the sneaking sense that artificial intelligence might upend this (very flawed) digital utopia as we know it, or maybe it’s the lingering uncertainty of the pandemic. Either way, the world online right now feels like it’s on the edge of a significant change, which might explain why we’re so obsessed with discussing the Internet of yesteryear. ItsTheReal hosts Eric and Jeff Rosenthal’s new podcast documentary The Blog Era, presented by Pharrell’s OTHERtone Media,...

After recently rejoining Alice Cooper’s band, guitarist Nita Strauss has unveiled a new single, “Winner Takes All,” featuring the legendary shock rocker himself.
The track features Strauss’ virtuoso guitar playing alongside Cooper’s trademark vocals, with an anthemic chorus. It follows Strauss previous singles “The Wolf You Feed” (featuring Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz) and “Dead Inside” (featuring Disturbed’s David Draiman). All three songs are expected to be included on her as-yet-untitled upcoming album.
“When we were working on the music for this album, there was no question that I wanted to create a song to collaborate with my longtime boss and friend, the legendary Alice Cooper,” Strauss said of “Winner Takes All.”
She continued, “I think the track accomplishes what we set out to do — showcase Alice’s voice and signature style on the backdrop of a heavy, modern rock track. After many years of lending my...

Def Leppard Announce Album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Share Re-Imagined “Animal”: Stream
Def Leppard have teamed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for the collaborative album Drastic Symphonies, arriving May 19th. A newly re-imagined orchestral version of “Animal” can be streamed now.
The collection features 15 orchestral re-workings of some of Def Leppard’s most iconic tracks, as well as a few deep cuts from their catalog. Rather than performing live alongside the orchestra, a la Metallica’s S&m, Drastic Symphonies is an ambitious studio project, combining specific audio from the original master tapes of the songs, fresh guitar/vocal overdubs, and symphonic arrangements recorded by the Rpo at Abbey Road studios.
As heard on the new version of “Animal,” the results are far from “an orchestra plonked over our previous recordings,” as guitarist Phil Collen put it. At times, you can hear Joe Elliott duetting with his younger self, and the new orchestral mix is a completely different experience than the classic Hysteria track.

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was violently attacked outside the Four Seasons hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, over the weekend. A 19-year-old man named Max Edward Hartley was arrested for the incident.
According to a police report obtained by The Daily Mail, Allen was outside smoking a cigarette when Hartley allegedly emerged from behind a pillar and rushed at the drummer, knocking the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer down. As a result of the assault, Allen apparently hit his head on the ground, causing injury.
A woman attempted to help Allen, but was repeatedly punched by Hartley. When she tried to escape back into the hotel, Hartley dragged her back outside by the hair. Hartley fled but was eventually arrested as he was breaking car windows nearby the hotel.

Mötley Crüe will turn 50 in 2031, and founding bassist Nikki Sixx hopes the band keeps going until it reaches that milestone.
Sixx told Brazil’s A Rádio Rock (as transcribed by Blabbermouth) that he hopes the band will remain active until its 50th anniversary in 2031. With original guitarist Mick Mars — the eldest member of the band at 71 — having been replaced by John 5 in the touring lineup, Sixx and company sound like they’re primed to keep touring far beyond their upcoming summer outing with Def Leppard and Alice Cooper.
Sixx cited heart-to-heart conversations between himself and his bandmates during their Mexico getaway for Tommy Lee’s 60th birthday last October.
“It was just hanging out, walking on the beach,” Sixx said. “And we had some sweet conversations. Me and Tommy and Vince [Neil] had this conversation. I said, I go,’What are you guys doing for the next eight years?’ And...

Joey Bada paid a visit to the Australian radio station Triple J to cover Mos Def’s single “Umi Says” from his 1999 debut solo studio album.
The performance was part of the station’s “Like A Version” segment where every week, a musician or band performs a cover of a song and their own original work.
In an almost eight minute long clip of “Umi Says,” Bada delivers a smooth and melodic extended version of Def’s track.
His performance is also joined by Zimbabwean-born, Melbourne-based singer Kye of “Good Company.

A personal request from the legend himself. #TaylorHawkins my friend, my idol…. My neighbor. Growing up on a farm I never could see the light of another house nearby, but living by Taylor for the years that I did out in LA were some of the most fun times of my life.
