Among the vast landscape of media and cinema, the Power Rangers franchise is a rare exception for being one of the most liked and revered media franchises of all time. Spanning over 29 seasons with numerous narratives, it has cast a plethora of actors as Power Rangers as well as in other roles.
A still from the 90s American series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
While many of our favorite Rangers have unfortunately turned out to be one-hit-wonders, failing to make it big in the huge film industry, a handful of these actors present an exception. People often don’t witness the true demeanor of their friends, as well as the full extent that the law will take to suppress their behavior, until they’re propelled into extreme situations. That’s certainly the case for the ensemble group of characters in the new horror film, ‘Safer at Home.’ The seven friends, who are also […]

One of the sleeper hits of the shutdown last year was Rob Savage’s British horror “Host,” a very short (just under an hour) and sweetly scary tale of friends whose weekly Zoom call during Covid quarantine gets crashed by an unwelcome supernatural visitor. It was, however, bound to be the exception which proved a preexisting rule: that found-footage thrillers remain a tapped-out genre, no matter if one in every 20 or so manages to squeeze some new life from the form.
Unfortunately, we’re likely to get a lot more in the mode of “Safer at Home,” which likewise hinges on friends video-conferencing during shutdown. Will Wernick’s film not only fails to use that format in clever or suspenseful ways, it blows the basics of maintaining plausibility and viewer interest. You have to admire filmmakers finding ways to keep plugging away within pandemic restrictions. But not every story is suited for Zoom-style presentation,...

The Vigil: "Steeped in ancient Jewish lore and demonology, The Vigil is supernatural horror film set over the course of a single evening in Brooklyn's Hasidic Borough Park neighborhood. Low on funds and having recently left his insular religious community, Yakov (Dave Davis) reluctantly accepts an offer from his former rabbi and confidante (Menashe Lustig) to take on the responsibility of an overnight "shomer," fulfilling the Jewish practice of watching over the body of a deceased community member. Shortly after arriving at the recently departed's dilapidated house to sit the vigil, Yakov begins to realize that something is very, very wrong."
Written and Directed by Keith Thomas, Starring Dave Davis, Menashe Lustig and Lynn Cohen

"Tell me what to do? What do I do?!" Vertical Entertainment has released the official trailer for Safer At Home, yet another new pandemic-inspired Zoom thriller written and filmed during the pandemic last year. This is the latest from filmmaker Will Wernick, who last directed the two escape room films Escape Room and No Escape just before this. Two years into the pandemic, a group of friends throw an online party with a night of games, drinking and drugs. After taking an ecstasy pill, things go terribly wrong and the safety of their home becomes more terrifying than the raging chaos outside. Sounds a little too crazy to be any good. The films stars Jocelyn Hudon, Emma Lahana, Alisa Allapach, Adwin Brown, Dan J. Johnson, Michael Kupisk, and Daniel Robaire. This looks super cheesy and extra fake, just doesn't seem worth it. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Will Wernick's Safer At Home,...

Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has acquired rights to Safer at Home, a pandemic thriller directed by Will Wernick that Voltage Pictures had introduced to buyers at last November at the virtual American Film Market. The pic, which went into production during the Covid pandemic, will now get a day-and-date release in February.
It’s the latest tie-up for Wernick, Voltage and Vertical after they worked together on Wernick’s horror thriller Follow Me (aka No Escape) last year.
Written by Wernick and Lia Bozonelis, Safer at Home is set in 2022 when the coronavirus pandemic has created mass chaos in Los Angeles and turned the city into a police state. To escape the grim reality, a group of friends get together for an online party: a night of music, drinking, games and drugs. Freeform is pumping the brakes on Tandy and Tyrone’s vigilante road trip, cancelling Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger after just two seasons, according to our sister site Deadline.

The Marvel live-action series “Cloak and Dagger” has been canceled at Freeform.
The series aired its second season back in April. It followed Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) who are two different kids from very different backgrounds but who find themselves burdened by and awakened to newly discovered superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another.
The series also starred Emma Lahana, Ally Maki, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito, J.D. Evermore, and Jaime Zevallos. It was based on comic characters from books of the same name and was co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios. Joe Pokaski served as showrunner with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb also executive producing.
News of the cancellation comes after most of Marvel TV’s live-action fare has been canceled or ended within the last year. The only current Marvel TV live-action shows are “Runaways” at Hulu,...

Exclusive: Freeform has opted not to renew drama Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger for a third season. The news is not surprising as it comes five months after the second season of the superhero series ended its run on the Disney network. I hear the options on the cast expired this week.
Cloak & Dagger was well received when it first debuted in 2018, earning a second season renewal from Freeform. In its second season, the series’ ratings dropped almost -40% and were on par with another drama series recently canceled by Freeform, Pll: The Perfectionists.

Cloak and Dagger Season 2, Episode 9
Pain can turn us into people we never thought we’d become, choking out our ability to empathize with others and turning us numb to others' pain. For Andre, this transformation through pain means becoming a villain who preys on girls and young women in order to keep himself sane. For Tandy, this means potentially becoming the kind of person who would kill for revenge, calling it justice. It appears to be already too late for Andre, who has completely committed to his path of stealing the hope from every person in New Orleans. But, for Tandy, empathy is still a choice she can and does make in the penultimate episode of Cloak and Dagger Season 2.

Cloak and Dagger Season 2, Episode 8
There has been more non-real world narrative detours in Cloak and Dagger Season 2 than I tend to like in a story, but this show tends to do emotional stakes and exploration so damn well, I'm willing to give it a pass—to a point.
This week's detour saw us dipping back into the Darkforce dimension where Tyrone is stuck following his over-exertions to help liberate Tandy and the other kidnapped girls from the Viking Motel. This time, Tandy's trip into the Darkforce dimension took her to an arcade where the soul of a near-dead Tyrone has been bargained away. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (McU) seems to be everywhere these days. The films have literally changed the current social culture in ways that the comic book industry never did before. It’s a good thing. It’s an art form that people would’ve normally dismissed as unworthy of dedication. But the McU is wider than the films. There are tons of television shows, including Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, which have found its way into our hearts as well. Cloak and Dagger Season 2, Episode 6
Cloak and Dagger does alternate reality/hallucination episodes better than most TV shows. "B Sides" was maybe my least favorite episode of an admittedly very strong season thus far—it felt more like treading narrative water than this show almost ever does—but it was still a fascinating, heartbreaking trip into Tandy's psyche during one of the most traumatic experiences of her life.
"B Sides" is an entire episode set inside of Tandy's mind, strongly controlled by Andre Deschaine, the community leader and support center organizer who is revealed in this episode to be a person with his own terrible power, and the man responsible for stealing vulnerable girls and women off of the streets of New Orleans. Cloak and Dagger Season 2, Episode 5
We're all stronger when we have others backing us up—a lesson that Tyrone remembers and Tandy forgets (or at least actively rails against) in "Alignment Chart."
Following Tandy's return from the Darkforce dimension, things are already strained between Tyrone and Tandy. Ty is annoyed that Tandy brought Connors back, while Tandy is annoyed (and probably a little bit guilty) that Tyrone is annoyed.
Connors' return ends up bringing unexpected results for Ty. Apparently, Connors' time in the Darkforce gave him the space to think about his own actions. A guilt that was probably already there to begin with (I really do believe that all of us have the capacity for good inside of us), grows.

Tandy and Tyrone are forced to face some uncomfortable truths as Mayhem explores the Darkforce dimension.
This Marvel's Cloak & Dagger review contains spoilers.
Marvel's Cloak and Dagger Season 2 Episode 4
"Rabbit Hold" picks up right where "Shadow Selves" left off, and is all about the truths that we try to keep from ourselves.
For Tyrone, this means facing up to the knowledge that his powers have the capacity to send people to another place. He did it with Connors last season and now he's done it with Mayhem. Just once and in the privacy of himself and his transportee, and he might be able to keep it quiet, but Tandy witnessed the latest display of this power, and she wants answers—not only for herself, but for Tyrone.
All of this time, Tyrone has been living on the lam because, as Tandy thought, everyone assumed that he killed Fuchs when it was really Connors.

As both Brigid and Mayhem, Emma Lahana has a lot to do in Cloak and Dagger Season 2—and she's killing it.
Warning: This Marvel's Cloak & Dagger article contains major spoilers for Cloak and Dagger Season 2.
In "Shadow Selves," the most recent episode of Cloak and Dagger Season 2, Mayhem took center stage as we learned what Brigid's double has been up to since the events of their literal split.
That's right, folks. As we learned in the season premiere, this is no mere Jekyll & Hyde situation. Mayhem is her own, distinct version of Brigid, with all of the same memories up until to the point of their split, and she's on a very bloody mission to save the most vulnerable citizens of New Orleans.
Let's talk Mayhem...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the two-hour April 4 second season premiere of “Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger.”
“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger’s” second season kicked off with its central duo Tandy (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) just starting to crack open the door of a very real, non-superpowered, problem: human trafficking.
“This is who Cloak and Dagger are in the comics,” showrunner Joe Polaski tells Variety. “They were introduced in the ‘80s and helped runaway kids and heroin addicts like that. Tandy and Tyrone are the patron saints of lost children. It felt like the right story for them to tell.”
Though the first season of “Cloak & Dagger” also tackled grounded issues, with the characters and their partnership established the second season gave the writers’ room opportunity to go a little deeper with darker issues. Pokaski, inspired by research he did for his previous show,...

When TVLine spoke with Cloak & Dagger showrunner Joe Pokaski at the end of Season 1, he promised us that the Freeform drama’s take on Mayhem would “surprise the heck out of” us. And now that Thursday’s two-part season premiere has aired, we can confirm he was right.
Thursday’s two-part premiere introduced us to the new vigilante on the block, but rather than merely existing within Brigid O’Reilly — as the character has in the comics — Mayhem gets to exist as her own physical being. Just as Tandy and Tyrone were beginning to (sort of) adjust to their respective new normals,...

We talked to showrunner Joe Pokaski about the rise of Mayhem, Cloak and Dagger's vigilante anti-hero.
This article contains major spoilers for the Cloak & Dagger Season 2 premiere.
While there may only be two names in the title, Marvel's Cloak & Dagger is really a show with three leads. The third is Emma Lahana, who played Brigid O'Reilly in the first season. In Season 2, she is taking on an extra role: Mayhem, a vigilante who has far fewer personal limits than Brigid, Tyrone, or Tandy when it comes to hunting down Nola's bad guy population.
"We wanted Mayhem to be the part of us that asks: why are we waiting so long for justice?" said showrunner Joe Pokaski of the character, who is adapted from the comic book source material. "And she is the angriest of us ... So, that's been kind of the plan—particularly when you...

Den of Geek talked to the stars and showrunner of Cloak and Dagger about Season 2.
Cloak and Dagger is one Den of Geek's most-anticipated midseason TV returns. The show, which follows New Orleans teens Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy (Olivia Holt) as they come into their powers and make big decisions about how they want to use them is one of the best superhero shows on TV—not to mention, one of the only superhero shows that engages complexly with real-life problems rather than using metaphor to address some of the world's harshest realities.

While I enjoyed the first season of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, it seems there are a lot of people that don’t like the show. I guess I can see why some people don’t like it, but I personally just really like how these two characters have been handled in the show. It’s solid character development.
It’s all good, though, the show isn’t for everybody, but for those of you who have been enjoying it, Freeform has released a full trailer for you to watch! It shows us that Tyrone and Tandy will be teaming up to save the world. This one specifically deals with sex trafficking. Then there’s the anti-hero Mayhem who doesn’t have any problems killing people to save others.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:

I’m a fan of the first season of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and I’m looking forward to seeing how the story of these two characters continues in the upcoming second season. If you haven’t watched Season 1 yet, you should check it out, I think most of you might dig it.
The new promo teases the arrival of the anti-hero Mayhem. Detective O'Reilly (Emma Lahana) was transformed into Mayhem after being killed and then revived by darkforce matter in the season 1 finale.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 2:
Season 2 turns the heat up on our young heroes, as Tyrone and Tandy try to find their place as more active heroes in this world. As they learn and grow emotionally, so will their skills. In Season 1, we saw Tandy and Ty dip their toes into the world of hopes and fears; this season, they will dive deeper into this metaphysical pool.
