New Delhi, June 8 (Ians) New Zealand speedster Trent Boult committed to being available for the national team for part of the playing programme despite declining a central contract and therefore has been offered a casual playing agreement.
In August of last year, Boult and New Zealand reached an agreement to mutually release his central contract. This arrangement granted the 33-year-old the opportunity to participate in different domestic leagues worldwide and prioritise spending quality time with his family.
“Boult, while again declining a central contract, has committed to being available for the BlackCaps for part of the playing programme and, on that basis, has been offered a casual playing agreement,” New Zealand Cricket said in a release.
With Boult turning out for the national team, it looks highly likely he will represent New Zealand at this year’s Icc Cricket World Cup in India, starting from October 5.
“We’re having positive conversations with Trent.

The 31-year-old, who made his international debut in 2010, was part of the Black Caps’ past two Icc T20 World Cup campaigns.
Coach Gary Stead said Milne’s offer of a central contract was well-deserved and reflected his strong and ongoing commitment to play international cricket for New Zealand, the New Zealand Cricket said in a report on its website on Thursday.

Melbourne, Nov 25 (Ians) Just two days after he was released from his New Zealand central contract, veteran opener Martin Guptill has joined Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (Bbl).
Guptill becomes the third player from New Zealand to land a Bbl contract after left-arm pacer Trent Boult was drafted by Melbourne Stars through the inaugural overseas player draft in August and pace all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme retired from international cricket to play for Adelaide Strikers.
“I’m excited to be joining the Renegades and am looking forward to being part of the Big Bash this season. This is a new challenge for me and it will be nice to call Melbourne home for the summer. Cairns, Sep 6 (Ians) New Zealand team skipper Kane Williamson feels that with so many changes happening in the cricketing landscape across the world because of the mushrooming domestic T20 leagues, a solution needs to be found quickly to the emerging situation.
Two New Zealand cricketer — pace bowler Trent Boult and all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme — have exited the New Zealand Cricket (Nzc) central contract to play in the Australian Big Bash League (Bbl), while left-arm seamer Mitchell McClenaghan has expressed apprehension that senior players are not being valued much by the cricket’s governing body in the country, leading them to look for better avenues.
Williamson, said things are moving fast in the cricketing world and a balance has to be found between Black Caps’ national duty and the lucrative domestic competitions, as some players have opted out of central contracts.
“It’s a tricky one (situation) because it is changing.

Auckland, Sep 1 (Ians) New Zealand left-arm seamer Mitchell McClenaghan is worried of senior players not being valued much by the New Zealand Cricket (Nzc) upon reaching a certain age.
McClenaghan’s fears come after pace all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.

Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer (both due to injuries), Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran and Jonny Bairstow (all rested after Indian Premier League) won't feature in the first Test giving Kiwis an opportunity to win only their second Test at the home of cricket.
New Zealand have won only one out of the 17 Tests they have played at Lord's in their 90-year cricket history in England. Their lone victory came in 1999 under Stephen Fleming's captaincy. They have lost eight and drawn eight matches.
New Zealand's most experienced players like Tim Southee and Ross Taylor are on their fourth trip to England but are yet to win a Test match at Lord's.

Wellington, Dec 15 (Ians) New Zealand head coach Gary Stead on Tuesday confirmed that all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme won't be a part of the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan due to foot injury.
Stead said the all-rounder had a bone stress reaction in his right foot and wouldn't be ready for either the first Test against Pakistan slated to be played from December 26-30 in Tauranga, or the second Test in Christchurch from January 3-7.
"We haven't been able to get him up to running stage and ultimately bowling as well. He's looking like, hopefully, a mid-January return to play in the Super Smash," Stead was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.
de Grandhomme missed the two-match Test series against West Indies which the Black Caps won 2-0. Daryl Mitchell played in his place in the New Zealand XI against the Windies.

Hamilton, Dec 1 (Ians) New Zealand have added Devon Conway in their squad as an injury cover for regular wicketkeeper-batsman Bj Watling, who has picked up a hamstring niggle ahead of the two-match Test series against West Indies team which begins Thursday at the Seddon Park.
Watling picked up the injury in the opening round of the Ford Trophy, New Zealand Cricket informed on Tuesday.
"We have another injury cover. Devon Conway is here as cover for Bj Watling, who has a slight hamstring niggle that he picked up the day before (Sunday) in his last Ford Trophy match. What that would mean is that Tom Blundell would take the gloves if Bj is ruled out, and bat in the middle order. So that is why we had Conway at training today," New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said.
However, Conway could have to wait longer for a debut even if...

Auckland, Nov 25 (Ians) New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme has been ruled out of the upcoming Test series against West Indies due to bone bruising in his right-foot. He will be replaced by Daryl Mitchell in the squad.
Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner has been named Ajaz Patel's cover for the first Test starting December 3 in Hamilton after the latter's left calf tear didn't improved enough in time.
Santner has also been named as the captain of Black Caps for the third T20I to be played on Monday. He will take over from Tim Southee (who's been rested for the game) and will become the eighth T20I captain for New Zealand, said New Zealand Cricket.
"The unavailability of Colin and Ajaz has obviously had a flow on effect to our T20I squad who are providing the replacement players for the Test squad," head coach Gary Stead said.
