Author George R.R. Martin created the global phenomenon Game of Thrones when he wrote the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. Set in a medieval fantasy realm where Seven Kingdoms fight to be the ruler of the lands, the novel series spawned the popular HBO show which won multiple Emmys and was one of the most-watched series.
After the show ended with season 8, which was largely considered to be disappointing, HBO commissioned multiple prequels, of which only House of the Dragon has seen the light of day. However, among the multiple prequels in development is Aegon’s Conquest, which sees the origins of the Seven Kingdoms. Writer Mattson Tomlin mentioned that Martin instructed him to avoid one mistake from Game of Thrones creators.

The heroic character of Jon Snow in HBO’s Game of Thrones is played by the iconic actor Kit Harington. He is also known for starring in MCU’s Eternals as Black Knight aka Dane Whitman. Although he plays such heroic roles, Harington is, after all, a simple human being… with some weird habits.

One of the weird habits that Kit Harington seems to have is as hilarious as it is random. With Harington believing that it is an Italian tradition, the actor and Jimmy Fallon could not control their laughter during his interview!

The early 2010s are often hailed as a modern golden age of television where TV episodic content was constantly reaching new heights of cinematic brilliance. One of the vanguards of this movement was undoubtedly Game of Thrones, which became one of the most watched and critically acclaimed shows throughout its eight seasons.
But despite the craze surrounding the series, not every part of its epic saga was well-received. Today marks the fifth anniversary of one of the most controversial episodes of Game of Thrones in its eighth and final season, titled “The Long Night.” Naturally, fans took to social media to mark the occasion and express their support and/or poke fun at the ways in which the episode fell short of expectations.

Brian Helgeland’s Game of Thrones spinoff, Ten Thousand Ships, is getting docked as HBO shelves the project before it can set sail. Helgeland, the director behind films like L.A. Confidential and A Knight’s Tale and screenwriter for the Tony Scott-directed crime drama Man on Fire, spoke with Inverse about the defunct project, saying it would have focused on Queen Nymeria, the warrior-queen who led the Rhoynar refugees to Dorne.
Helgeland speaks with Inverse and makes Ten Thousand Ships sound biblical in scope and story. He likens Queen Nymeria’s tale to the story of Moses, with survivors from a ravaged country setting sail for a new home.
“It came out great, but I think they felt the period of my show was too far removed from the pillars of the original,” Helgeland explained to Inverse about his spinoff. “That’s why it hasn’t been picked up yet,...

Kit Harington found worldwide fame and love for portraying the character of Jon Snow in the iconic HBO series Game of Thrones. Portraying the character for 8 seasons, Harington had quite a tough time adjusting to the normal world.
The character of Jon Snow is a hero through and through and Harington had quite fun while making the series. In a recent interview, however, the Eternals actor revealed that portraying heroic roles is “hard’ and that’s why he wants to play “f-cked up” characters now!

Following in the footsteps of House of the Dragons, which was an immense success for HBO, several spin-offs to Game of Thrones are currently in development. While fans are extremely excited to delve deeper into the world of Westeros, unfortunately, Kit Harington’s Jon Snow spin-off, which was once reported to be in the works, is no longer happening.
With the spin-off officially off the cards, hopes of diving deeper into the Land Of Always Winter, which many theorized would’ve be explored in the canned spin-off, is now out of the equation.

One of several announced Game Of Thrones spin-offs, a series following the adventures of Jon Snow is no longer ‘on the table’ according to Kit Harrington.
When Game Of Thrones – the wildly popular TV series based on George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novels – came to an end in 2019, HBO was already in the process of cooking up a number of potential pin-off shows that could prolong the success of a show that had become must-watch TV.
We’ve already seen one spin-off show emerge from the world of Game Of Thrones, that being House Of The Dragon. That show is currently approaching its second season but another potential spin-off that was in development is now dead, according to the actor who was at the centre of it all.
Kit Harrington played Jon Snow in Game Of Thrones and given how the series ended, seemed well situated for a series charting the character’s further adventures.

Kit Harington announced in a new interview with ScreenRant while promoting his movie “Blood for Dust” that his “Game of Thrones” spinoff centered around Jon Show is “off the table” and no longer in development at HBO. The network declined to comment. News broke in June 2022 that Harington was set to return to his iconic “Thrones” role, which earned him two Emmy nominations (one for supporting actor and another for lead actor in a drama series).
“It was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us,” author George R.R. Martin later confirmed in a blog post. “I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.”
Now talking to ScreenRant, Harington admitted the team “couldn’t find the right story to tell” so the project is not in active development anymore.

One of the best things about the sprawling HBO fantasy series "Game of Thrones" is that there are an incredible number of wonderful characters with great moments of interaction between them. Sometimes these little moments could be more fun and thrilling than the big battles between zombies and dragons or even the political scheming of wannabe kings and queens, and in the case of one of these moments, it was entirely an improvised moment between some very talented actors. There's a very meme-able moment in the season 7 episode "Beyond the Wall" that features Kristofer Hivju's wildling character Tormund Giantsbane shooting his shot with the woman of his dreams, bringing a great bit of levity to the rather dire circumstances of those later seasons. According to series co-creator and showrunner Dan Weiss, that moment was entirely because of Hivju, which absolutely rules.

Marvel’s Moon Knight followed Oscar Isaac in the first season as he played a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder (Did) who not only has multiple personalities or ‘alters’, but also serves as a vessel for the Egyptian god Khonshu. Since Isaac’s Marc Spector / Moon Knight was first introduced in the MCU almost two years ago, many fans have been wondering if Jeremy Slater’s miniseries will ever see the release of a second season.
In October 2022, the Show Me a Hero actor, 44, revealed that he had begun talks with Marvel Studios about reprising his role as Moon Knight, either in a sequel series or in a different project. Isaac was concerned about creating a “worth telling” and “interesting” backstory for his character.

Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, and Dave Bautista all star in projects at one of the biggest Berlin markets in recent memory, post and pre-pandemic.
Whether this year’s high-rollers will sell is the crux at a 2024 European Film Market which AGC Studios’ Stuart Ford is describing as a “watershed market.”
The big question is: “Was the tepid AFM an anomaly brought about by the strikes and a broader industry pullback in 2023? Or was the AFM an indicator of a more sustained downturn?” he asks.
It’s early days in 2024 but “signs for Berlin are quite positive,” says Ford, who is bringing to market three new star-driven thrillers starring Will Smith –action movie “Sugar Bandits” – Sylvester Stallone and Michelle Yeoh.

The 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Eternals,” directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, was among the first in that series to meet predominantly negative reviews. Adam McKay’s non-profit Yellow Dot Studios has released several videos across social media over the past week for their #ImWithScience campaign, but the most viral one yet is a “Game of Thrones” parody video starring Rainn Wilson (“The Office”) and the “Game of Thrones” cast.

In his presentation, Wilson charts the effects of oil pollution since the creation of Exxon in the ’70s: “They bought the politicians and the media to spread lies about the very science that they knew to be true because….profit!” he rages to the unamused court.

The novel The Woman in Black recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Released in Fall of 1983, The Woman in Black has become a much loved and much reimagined story. During its history it has been adapted into a TV movie, Hollywood film – with sequel, radio play and theatre production – which was the 2nd longest run of any play in London’s history. The apparition of The Woman in Black has taken many impressive shapes. What’s more impressive is that: the author, Susan Hill had never had a ghost story published prior to this one; the theatre adaptation was penned by a soap opera writer; and the first performance took place in a canteen - possibly a pub - in the northern coastal town of Scarborough (which is some 20 miles away from Dracula’s Whitby).

In hindsight, it’s pretty amazing that HBO’s epic fantasy series Game of Thrones made it to live-action in the first place.
George R.R. Martin, who penned (and is still slowly penning) the novel series upon which Game of Thrones is based, wrote his books at a seemingly unadaptable scale. Following a career of writing for television, Martin surely never envisioned that the medium would have the budget, expertise, or ambition to bring his world of Westeros to life. Then HBO came along. According to a new blog post from Martin himself, however, even pay cable might have its limits.
In a blog post titled “Amazing Animation,” Martin shares his thoughts on the medium (he loves Netflix’s Blue Eye Samurai) while also providing a critical update on the many Game of Thrones prequels moving forward at Warner Bros. Discovery. That update confirms what we’ve long expected. The...

Mark Gatiss’ revival of A Ghost Story for Christmas, a British strand of one-off specials infrequently aired around the holidays since 1971, continues with what is possibly its best entry yet: Lot No. 249. The League of Gentlemen alum has maintained a substantial interest in horror, much like comrades Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, but unlike the Inside No. 9 duo, Gatiss digs up neglected works from classic British literature — before now, namely M. R. James — and reintroduces them to contemporary audiences.
In Lot No. 249, Kit Harrington plays the prying university student who acts on suspicions about his odd neighbor (Freddie Fox). The Egyptologist in question is not only guilty of certain “perversions” he is also using a reanimated mummy — the story’s otherwise nameless namesake — to carry out his wicked plans. This includes murdering his various rivals on campus. The protagonist later intervenes, only to then make a startling, if not belated realization about his enemy.

Warning: contains spoilers for “A Ghost Story for Christmas: Lot No. 249”
Christmas and ghosts go together like mince pies and brandy butter, or indeed like Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss and Sherlock Holmes. This year’s A Ghost Story For Christmas brings us a bit of both.
Based on a short story by Arthur Conan Doyle, Lot No. 249 sees medical student Smith (Kit Harrington) called to help fellow student Bellingham (Freddie Fox) after he falls into some sort of a trance. Bellingham is a specialist in Egyptology and possesses many ancient artifacts including a mummified body. Strange things have been occurring on campus, some of them to people who have crossed Bellingham – could the desiccated corpse have anything to do with it? Well, yes, obviously.
While scary resurrected mummies are standard horror fare these days, back when Doyle was writing, Egyptomania was all the rage and the concept of the undead...

The first look at upcoming horror-thriller What Remains of Us has arrived, with a promotional still showing a short-haired Kit Harington wielding an ax and looking ominously in the distance. Considering the plot, this can’t point to anything good…
As per Arclight Films, What Remains of Us has the following synopsis: “Set deep in rural England, the film is framed from the point of view of Harington’s character’s 10-year-old daughter (Caoilinn Springall). Behind the walls of her family’s isolated, fortified compound, she begins to question her unusual life. She discovers that once a month her father turns into a monster. Her parents say the monster is nothing to be afraid of but when the monster escapes, the girl has to confront the harsh reality of her father’s identity and make a life-altering decision.” Kit Harington plays father to Springall (The Midnight Sky), while Ashleigh Cummings plays the mother.

Exclusive: Small Axe star Shaniqua Okwok has criticized The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama for paying lip service to anti-discrimination pledges after the prestigious UK drama school failed to say whether it disciplined a teacher accused of a “racist incident.”
Okwok, one of Royal Central’s most successful recent graduates, made a formal complaint against a teacher after they allegedly demanded that she embrace her “inherited trauma” and play a slave during an acting exercise in 2015.
Deadline can reveal that the complaint was upheld last year and Royal Central apologized to Okwok, but for confidentiality reasons, she was not told if the lecturer faced any consequences. The individual remains in post as a lecturer at the school, which boasts alumni including Judi Dench and Kit Harrington. The teacher did not respond to a request for comment.

Part of the reason "Game of Thrones" became such a lightning rod of a television show was that no character was safe. When Sean Bean's Ned Stark, ostensibly the show's main character, got beheaded in the penultimate episode of the first season, it signaled to viewers everywhere that this was a show that was not to be missed. Before that moment aired, I had never heard of "Game of Thrones" or George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series. Fantasy is a genre I rarely stick my toe in, and even if I had heard of it, it just went in one ear and out the other. But the fervor around Ned's death was unavoidable and caught my interest. I started the first episode, was immediately hooked, and watched every other episode of the series live.

On paper, Rod Blackhurst’s Blood for Dust is just a standard film within the Neo-Western genre: a man (Scoot McNairy) down on his luck trying to earn money for himself and/or his family who eventually partners with a shady criminal (Kit Harrington) to earn one big score that will set both of them for life, but as they dig further and further into the criminal underworld, they’ll learn that their score comes at the risk of losing not just their lives, but their loved ones as well.
Every cliche and trope that you can imagine a Neo-Western story could have is littered throughout Blood for Dust. However, while its predictability makes for a film that has very few, if any, surprises or moments of subversion, it more than makes up for it by creating the most entertaining and engaging film that it can be, and for the most part,...

Scott Z. Burns’ show about the horrifying conditions of the Earth a few decades from now, “Extrapolations” on Apple TV, premiered its final episode this week, and there’s a lot to learn from the show. The 8-episode series looks into the ways in which man’s actions create a world where man ends up being the biggest sufferer of their wrongdoings, other than the animals and birds, although they’re the collateral damage to man’s greed. Is it all fiction, or is there anything real about the warnings the show makes? Is this the future we’re heading towards?
This is not a rambling after watching a drama series on Apple TV. This is a blueprint for the foreseeable future of the planet Earth within 25 years unless we, the people, take steps about it. When Burns’ “Extrapolations” starts, it’s 2037, and a bizarre montage of the appalling condition...

Does writer Scott Z. Burns have a crystal ball? The acclaimed writer foreshadowed Covid-19 in his 2011 “Contagion,” the Steven Soderbergh thriller about a highly contagious virus that becomes a worldwide pandemic. And now he’s warning the world about climate change in “Extrapolations,” Apple TV +’s eight-part anthology series with an all-star cast led by Meryl Streep, Ed Norton, Kit Harrington, Sienna Miller and Daveed Diggs.
Michele Norris, an opinion writer at the Washington and longtime friend of Burns, recently discussed the series over Zoom with the writer/creator and Norton.
Burns noted it’s a balancing act to educate audiences while simultaneously entertaining them. “I think I started from a place which is a documentary. It is a bit of a self-sorting organism. That’s changing a little bit; we’ve seen a lot of docs that have been made. Some are really wonderful that try and talk about the risks of climate change.

“Extrapolations” star Matthew Rhys said his role as a ruthless real estate developer on Apple TV+’s climate change drama “stumped” him, saying that it was “depressing to play.”
“I think part of any actor’s job is going to justify what it is the character does — this character stumped me and I found it very difficult,” Rhys told TheWrap. “Ultimately, you can see the greed, you can see the opportunistic elements to him that wants to make money, but to see someone who is very aware of what the situation is, and yet still wants to exploit those opportunities, I found depressing to play.”
In the Apple TV+ drama series, Rhys plays Junior, an out-of-touch real estate developer who does the bidding of tech billionaire Nicholas Bilton (Kit Harrington), traveling via boat amid melted ice caps alongside his girlfriend, Hannah (Heather Graham), to scope out a site for a new casino.

The Oscar, Tony and BAFTA winner will play the Jackal himself in the Sky/Peacock original series, based on the Frederick Forsyth thriller and subsequent award-winning 1973 film adaptation of the same name from Universal Pictures. Redmayne — who recently landed BAFTA, SAG and Golden Globe nomination for The Good Nurse — will also executive produce.
The Day of the Jackal is being billed by the producers as a “bold, modern reimagining of the beloved and respected novel and film.” While staying true to the DNA of the original story, which was set in 1962 and based on attempts to assassinate French president Charles de Gaulle, this contemporary drama will delve deeper into the chameleon like “antihero” at the heart of the story in a “high octane,...

When Ant-Man and the Wasp earned over $120 million on its first weekend, it seemed like the Marvel Cinematic Universe was doing well. Sure, reviews were mixed (even if we’ve been pretty enthusiastic here at Den of Geek), but the movie still resonated with fans. And then box office numbers dropped 69% the second weekend, and a further 61% for weekend three. The massive drop in ticket sales forces even the most fervent MCU fan to wonder, “Is the Age of Marvel over?”
As you’d probably expect, returning Disney CEO Bob Iger’s answer is “no.” Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference (via Deadline), Iger assured attendees that “There’s nothing in any way inherently off in terms of the Marvel brand.” Even taking into account Iger’s literally vested interest in Marvel doing well, he does have a point. After all, four of the top grossing...

The perils of climate change are unfolding at a dangerous rate before our eyes, and worldwide
responses to the problem seem tepid at best. Dystopian fiction has only grown in popularity during this time, but few narratives have tackled the crushing realism of our contemporary ills, and detailed exactly where we’re heading. Step forward Apple TV+ and “Extrapolations,” alongside a murderer’s row of talent, as they bring the matter to the forefront for our entertainment.
It’s not necessarily that it’s hard to get people to care about the climate change disaster that is
unfolding before our eyes. The problem is getting the people and corporations who can make
seismic change to give a hoot. This is the agony we, alas, live with, and it’s now so thoroughly the status quo that many of us have turned to nihilistic shrugs to cope with it. Hollywood has...

This article discusses difficult subject matter including (but not limited to) postpartum psychosis.
Bess Wohl's timely and powerful "Baby Ruby" opens with the main character Jo (Noémie Merlant) carefully making a banner for her baby shower. Her methodical cutting and placement of the letters demonstrate how much she enjoys being organized and in control, as well as the pressure she feels to curate the perfect life and aesthetic for her website and social media pages. Jo is not just a person or a mother-to-be: she is a brand. After the birth of Ruby, she discovers motherhood is far more difficult than glossy Instagram photos portray it to be.
The entire film is through her point of view as she spirals into a whirlwind of depression, anxiety, and loneliness. She also starts having unsettling hallucinations that turn out to be symptoms of postpartum psychosis. One of the most captivating aspects...
