BBC One greenlights Aberdeen-set drama ‘Granite Harbour’
BBC One has greenlit Granite Harbour, a three-part Scotland-set drama series featuring rising talents Romario Simpson (Small Axe) and Hannah Donaldson (Annika). The show from LA Productions centers on the story of Lance Corporal Davis Lindo, who arrives in Aberdeen as a new recruit to Police Scotland. Having completed his final tour with the Royal Military Police, Lindo dreams of being a detective at New Scotland Yard. However, he finds himself being sent to train as a Detective Constable in the North East of Scotland, he must quickly adapt to his new life in Aberdeen, a world away from anything the soldier has known before. Filming started a few weeks ago in locations through Aberdeenshire and Glasgow and the show will air on both BBC One and the BBC Scotland channel, in a similar vein to critical hit Guilt. Earlier today, SXSW announced the final eight additional features to screen at the festival this year, as well as announcing featured conversations with Jason Bateman, Mike Myers, Ralph Steadman, Robert Duvall and Tilda Swinton. The South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival (SXSW) has made a final announcement for their 14th annual festival announcing a final keynote speaker, the lineup for their conference and more films that will play at the festival that begins March 7. Marc Webb (director of "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "(500) Days of Summer") has been announced as the festival's fourth and final keynote speaker. Actors Jason Bateman, Mike Myers, Ralph Steadman, Robert Duvall and Tilda Swinton are scheduled to speak as well. John Bishop's Britain has been given a second series by BBC One. The Liverpudlian comic's mixture of stand-up and real-life stories proved a ratings hit for the broadcaster last year and will return later this year to focus on themes such as food, music, fashion, friends and pets.
