Just in time for Halloween, here's a creepy horror short called "Boxgirl"for you to watch. The movie was directed by Rocky Curby, and it centers on two kids who discover a mysterious box that is dying to be opened. The short begins with a wonderfully eerie background story about a witch who spits magic out of her mouth and makes people's nightmares real. A witch hunter traps her head in a box and she goes to sleep. After many, many years, the witch is awakened by a "child's curiosity." The film is extremely well made, and I absolutely loved the story. It's a perfect Halloween film, and I hope you enjoy it! It's very violent and bloody, so you might not want to watch it at work. Thanks to the director for sending this to us!

We've got a fun horror animated short for you to watch today called "Happy Meal Horror (with a side of chainsaw)." The film was created by Rocky Curby, and the story follows a robot cow who goes on a search for its mother in a slaughterhouse while being chased by a killer robot. Curby is the talented animator who brought us the great animated short film "Dark Vessel," which you can watch here in case you missed it.

Check out this awesome sci-fi animated short called Dark Vessel, which is packed full of bloody robot murder, mysticism, reincarnation and revenge. The film was made by Rocky Curby, and here's the synopsis:
A hopeless romantic is caught trespassing while trying to woo a girl. Problems occur when the girl's father forces him to remove a dead man's shadow. Tragically, the romantic becomes a vessel of death.
This is such a cool film! I seriously wasn't expecting what I got when I sat down to watch this film. It's brutally violent, and the fact that it features animated robots that can bleed is really fun. Check it out!

Why Watch? Sure, kicking a stool out from under someone is a great way to let them hang, but the villainous, gruff-voiced robot in Rocky Curby‘s unique short film would rather cut through their legs until they swing by the neck. Curby is an artist for Disney, but it looks like he’s been spending some free time on science fiction that isn’t for the kids. It’s a freakish mash-up with a young robot whose shadow has a violent side, an Old West feel and a healthy amount of red stuff. Why do robots bleed in this universe? Who cares. It looks really, really cool. Although the story could flow a bit smoother, the sound design works beautifully to make each moment hit harder, and the visuals are slick and strange enough to keep eyes wide open. Long story short, it’s what might happen if Quentin Tarantino had a parking spot at Disney...

For their seventh annual edition, the Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival is really blowing things up!
Well, not literally. But the world’s premiere horror movie fest is expanding to over double its regular size, screening over 50 films on nine terrifying nights Oct. 10-18 at its new home, the prestigious AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The scares kick off on the 10th with the return of local fave filmmaker Richard Bates, Jr. with the feature-length version of Excision about a teenage girl obsessed with becoming a surgeon. The film co-stars John Waters, Malcolm McDowell and Traci Lords. Bates’ original short Excision on which the feature is based screened at Spooky Movie back in 2008.
A few other Spooky Movie alumni who are back with highly anticipated new films include Mike Davis‘ “green” horror movie President Wolfman, which is composed entirely of public domain footage mixed with a rip-roarin...
