Hyderabad, Sep 3 (Ians) Nine new government medical colleges are set to be opened in Telangana this month.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will virtually inaugurate these medical colleges from Hyderabad on September 15.
The number of government medical colleges in the state will reach 34 with the establishment of eight more colleges next year. Thus Telangana will become the only state in the country to have one government medical college in every district, officials.
In July, the state government issued orders for setting up eight new government medical colleges in the state.
Each of these colleges and government general hospitals will have an intake capacity of 100 Mbbs seats.
The colleges will come up at Maheshwaram in Rangareddy district, Yadadri in Yadadri Bhongir district, Medak in Medak district, Narsampet in Warangal district, Mulugu in Mulugu district, Narayanpet in Narayanpet district, Gadwal in Jogulamba Gadwal district and Qutbullapur in Medchal Malkajgiri district.

Hyderabad, Feb 24 (Ians) A traffic police constable in Hyderabad has won many hearts by saving the life of a young man by administering CPR after he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
D. Rajashekhar, attached to Rajendranagar police station of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, performed CPR on a man whi collapsed at a bus stand at Aramghar crossroads.
As the man was lying on the ground, the constable showed presence of mind and did CPR to revive him. The man, identified as Balarju, was later shifted to a hospital, where he is recovering.
The constable’s gesture has come for praise from Telangana Health Minister T. Harish Rao. The minister took to Twitter to appreciate the cop for doing a commendable job in saving precious life by immediately doing CPR.
Harish Rao said the government will conduct CPR training to all frontline employees and workers next week in view of increasing reports of such incidents.

Hyderabad, Jan 19 (Ians) The second phase of Kanti Velugu, claimed to be the world’s largest eye screening programme, began across Telangana on Thursday.
Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other elected representatives inaugurated mass eye screening camps in all of the state’s 33 districts.
The camps will be conducted in all gram panchayats and municipal wards over next 100 days to screen 1.5 crore people. Free medicines and spectacles will be distributed among the beneficiaries.
Health minister T. Harish Rao along with minister for animal husbandry T. Srinivas Yadav inaugurated a camp in Ameerpet area in Hyderabad and distributed spectacles.
They interacted with some of the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, the health minister said that the aim of the programme is to ensure avoidable blindness free Telangana. He said Kanti Velugu has become another role model for the rest of the country.

Hyderabad, Aug 31 (Ians) After the death of four women after undergoing Double Puncture Laparoscopy (Dpl) at a family planning surgery camp at Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district, authorities have shifted remaining 30 women to hospitals for treatment.
Health authorities said the condition of women was stable.
Thirteen women were admitted to Apollo Hospitals and remaining 17 to government-run Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) in Hyderabad.
Two women were undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Nims. Doctors said they were physically weak and hence were under treatment at the ICU.
Doctors said there was no need for any concern and all women were likely to be discharged in a couple of days.
Health minister T. Harish Rao on Wednesday visited Nims Hospital and called on the women. He told reporters that all women were safe and would be discharged in two-day three days.
