Simone Kirlew is a first-generation Jamaican-American producer from Prince George's County, Maryland. Inspired by her love of Olivia Pope, Simone believed she would one day run Capitol Hill - but those dreams were cut short in favor of pursuing her love of storytelling. Simone is a graduate of the Producing MFA Program at the American Film Institute Conservatory, where she became a finalist of the prestigious Producer Guild of America's Debra Hill Fellowship. At AFI, she produced ten narrative films, including her thesis, LA BRUJA, which won the Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today Audience Award at the 2023 Hola Mexico Film Festival. LA BRUJA is set to have its world premiere at the 2024 edition of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF)
She began her career in the film industry, interning for a film financier and development executive in Montreal, QC. While still at AFI, Simone accepted a position as Assistant Production Coordinator at Cinecom Productions Limited in Kingston, Jamaica, where she worked on multi-million dollar Hulu and BBC television shows. Recently, she was a Production Coordinator for ColorCreative Productions, where she has been instrumental in the operations of the inaugural Find Your People Program and the company's expansion as a full-scale production services destination.
As a storyteller, Simone aims to tell stories that showcase women, specifically women of color, in positions of power across fields and experiences. When she's not producing, you can usually find Simone with a bottle of wine and the people she loves.
