Randy Meisner, the founding bassist for The Eagles and the vocalist on their hit song “Take It to the Limit,” is dead at 77 years old.
Confirmation of Meisner’s passing came on Thursday in the form of a post made to the blog on The Eagles’ website. According to the statement, Meisner died on the evening of Wednesday, July 26th, due to complications from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (Copd).
“Randy was an integral part of The Eagles and instrumental in the early success of the band,” the statement read. “His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident on his signature ballad, ‘Take It to the Limit.’”
Born Randall Herman Meisner in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on March 8th, 1946, Meisner began playing guitar after he saw Elvis Presley on the Ed Sullivan Show in the late ‘50s. By the time he was in high school, he had picked up the bass guitar and...

When Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac, he helped the group find unprecedented success but also opened them up to drama. Buckingham and then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks increased the band’s star power. Their tumultuous relationship also nearly broke the band apart. They weren’t the only ones causing problems, though. According to Buckingham, nobody was ever on the same page. He shared how he thought this made them the opposite of the Eagles.
Lindsey Buckingham said Fleetwood Mac was the opposite of the Eagles
Fleetwood Mac was an incredibly successful band in spite of their personal drama. They broke up with each other, had affairs, consumed copious amounts of drugs and alcohol, and fought over their music. Buckingham said they were rarely on the same page, even after years of working together.
“[T]hings change, and that’s a part of Fleetwood Mac,” he told Rolling Stone in 2012. “We’re a moving target.

This piece contains spoilers for "Daisy Jones & The Six."
Viewers might feel a sense of familiarity watching Prime Video's "Daisy Jones & The Six" if you are a music fan. We have seen this narrative play out in both fiction and in real life — a band that starts off with passion fizzling out amongst themselves, becoming more infamous than actually famous. It seems from that the moment the titular band is truly formed, when music producer Teddy Price (Tom Wright) suggests that the soulful Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) joins the struggling Six, there was simmering drama ensuing.
Of course, that was always going to be the case. Thanks to inner-circle cheating scandals and conflicting views on where to take the band, the titular band's final show marked the explosive end to their story. For now, at least. That being said, the team behind "Daisy Jones & The Six" had plenty...

Daisy Jones & the Six is a documentary-style series that follows a 1970s band through their rise and implosion. While the show takes inspiration from a real band, the characters and their band are fictional. If you love the show and the on-screen band dynamics, here are documentaries that show real-life drama between bands.
The cast of ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic Is ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ about a real band?
In the new series, Daisy Jones joins the Six in the 1970s. While some elements of the story might feel familiar to viewers, the Six is a fictional band. It is, however, at least partly based on Fleetwood Mac. Taylor Jenkins Reid, the author of the book by the same title, said she frequently watched The Dance growing up, and she turned to the same footage while writing the book.

Unsuspecting comic book readers raised on the EC-inspired black and white horror magazines from Warren Publishing had no idea what to make of Heavy Metal when it debuted on American newsstands in 1977. We came to understand it was a domestic version of France’s wildly successful Metal Hurlant, and introduced us to European talents and storytelling. It was mind-blowing.
The magazine’s success led to an animated feature, released in the summer of 1981, heralded by the beautiful Chris Achilléos promotional poster image generic levitra , introducing us to Taarna, who has become the magazine’s unofficial mascot and most recognizable figure.
The film, like the magazine, was a series of animated shorts, an anthology of science fiction, and fantasy, with heavy dollops of violence, nudity, and heavy metal music. And like the magazine, it was beautiful to look at and occasionally made sense.
It opened to mixed reviews and modest success,...

Most of our parents disdained music and arts as our future careers. This is because they firmly believed that the field of music and arts had lower chances for success. But still, there are many who dream to rock the music world with their own tune and style. This might come by being a lead singer, drummer, keyboardist or guitarist. The dream to conquer the hearts of people with just your sound and stand in the spot light with the screams of your fans is just too tempting to let go.
Though it is a tempting dream, the road towards success and fame is a steep one and often people lose their passion and wake up to “reality”. Some persist towards this path of life and succeed while some have triggered opportunities with their music alone and have their name added onto the list of the famous. In either case,...

If you were a kid in a record store in the early 1980’s, you saw this poster. Our record store was poorly lit with carpet crawling up the walls where you could thumb through albums with provocative covers while your parents ran their errands. Ahh, innocence lost. I couldn’t recall an animated film like this before or since, but the most significant thing that I can remember about “Heavy Metal” is that it taught me that animation can have adult and horrific elements. This movie scared me a little.

New York — Consider how unusual it is for the exact breaking point of a big-time rock band to be chronicled on film.
The Beatles' "Let it Be" showed a slow disintegration. For the Eagles, the end came abruptly at a political fundraiser in 1980. Don Felder didn't want to be there. Glenn Frey didn't like his attitude. Add years of simmering resentment and, as they performed, threats exchanged under the music. Fists didn't fly, but by the time each stalked into separate limousines, the Eagles were toast for 14 years.
It's one of the fascinating moments in "History of the Eagles," a documentary that airs on Showtime Friday and Saturday. The film has two parts just like the band, which has been together again since 1994.
Frey, 64, said it was time to get the story on film while the health and memories of everyone involved were intact. The Eagles courted filmmaker Alex Gibney,...

Laughing during an alien invasion movie is nothing new. I mean, my sides are still hurting from "Battleship." But laughing intentionally during an alien invasion has its place in the annals of movie history, as well.
Upon reflection, the aliens should bring with them the full spectrum of emotion. (Along with those dry ice cream squares.) Beings from distant stars may be just like us. Some of us are scary and evil, but some of us are funny and fun. (And some of us have horrendous scales that secrete an acid that can chew through steel – but let's leave former Secretary of State Dean Rusk out of this.)
This weekend, three of your favorite comic actors (and one British dude you've been meaning to learn more about) are serving up some interstellar hilarity in "The Watch." The movie is a hoot but, unfortunately, the aliens themselves aren't the source of the LOLz.

Eagles: Hotel California (Asylum/Elektra)
The Eagles were considered one of the top country-rock bands practically from the day the group came together. Certainly the consecutive No. 1 singles "Best of My Love" and "One of These Nights" and No. 2 "Lyin' Eyes" in 1974-75 made them mainstream rock fans' favorite country rockers by a wide margin. Extensive touring ensued, in the midst of which founding member Bernie Leadon (previously in the Flying Burrito Brothers) quit and the more rock-oriented Joe Walsh (ex-James Gang, and already with a moderately successful solo career) took his place after having opened for the Eagles on tour in 1974 thanks to sharing the same manager, the ruthless Irving Azoff.
The reconstituted quintet took its time recording its fifth album. Their eponymous debut had been laid down in two weeks; Hotel California took eight months. Asylum filled in the gap with the best-selling collection Greatest Hits 1971-1975., which,...
