Fox announced that lawyer, journalist and former “The View” co-host Star Jones has been appointed judge of the first-run syndicated series “Divorce Court,” starting in September.
As television’s longest running court show, “Divorce Court” dates back to the late 1950’s, when actors used to reenact actual divorce proceedings. Today, the program features real people and real cases — ranging from divorce court proceedings to other domestic disputes.
Judge Faith Jenkins will continue through the end of Season 23 and Jones will join for Season 24. Jones, a former assistant district attorney in New York and former legal correspondent on NBC’s “Today Show,” “Nightly News” and more, said that she will “offer the parties before ‘Divorce Court,’ as well as viewers, a no-nonsense approach to the law and a decision driven by my proven legal expertise, compassion and empathy, personal experiences and hard-earned common sense.”

AMC Networks streamer Allblk has renewed Terror Lake Drive for season 2, which will pick up two years after the events from the season 1 finale.
The upcoming season of the anthology will focus on traveling nurse Deja, the newest tenant at the troubled Freeman Lake Apartments who relocated to Atlanta, Georgia from Austin, Texas for a job assignment. There she will room with an awkwardly shy and eclectic Doula named Shana, who works at Atlanta University Hospital, where Deja will also be employed.
Deja is unaware of the apartment building’s checkered past and unknowingly becoming a target of the latest eerie coincidence to inhabit the troubled complex.
“This is an exciting climate for filmmakers of color, and so I want to thank the network for bringing us back for another highly anticipated season,” Jerry Lamothe, series writer and creator, said in a statement.

"The answer's not always laid out..." Rlje Films has debuted a new trailer for a mystery pandemic horror-thriller titled Terror Lake Drive, from filmmaker Jerry Lamothe. Of course. Starring Shannon Kane, Donielle T. Hansley Jr., Malik Yoba, and Lamaan Rucker. It's a bit odd to see this rebranded as a feature film in this new trailer, but it might play a bit better as one long film. Maybe? Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jerry Lamothe's Terror Lake Drive, direct from YouTube: On the heels of a recent pandemic,...

Filmmaker Jerry Lamothe (Blackout, Amour Infinity) has released his award winning short film The Tombs, online, for all to watch. This, in celebration of his birthday (which was actually yesterday). The writer/director also publicly expressed his interest in directing the long-in-development Tupac biopic, which Antoine Fuqua was previously attached to helm, but later stepped away from. "It's certainly something I would like to campaign and be considered for. I seldom (if ever) pursue work-for hire gigs, and frankly, rarely ever care to. But this project in particular, I've been following it for a long time. I definitely wouldn't mind being on their short list, and sharing...

Jerry Lamothe's feature film Amour Infinity - A Brooklyn Love Story, a moving & tragic love story, celebrated its 13th anniversary screening of its debut last evening at Mist (My Image Studios) in Harlem. Curtis Ceasar John, who was present to host the event on behalf of ActNow Foundation, interviewed Lamothe for S&A in this insightful piece Here, which you should read if you haven't. Unbeknownst to me - last night was the first time of me seeing the film - Amour is something of an underground cult classic. And well deservedly so. I didn't know what to expect, especially for a first film. I've seen plenty of those and it's seldom that one comes across one as well crafted, directed...

Jerry Lamothe has crafted a distinguished career as a filmmaker that can speak for the unspoken, most notably for the people 'around the way' like in his home neighborhood of Flatbush, Brooklyn, while still maintaining an entertaining and clear vision of how he sees the world. We caught up with him in advance of this Thursday's anniversary screening of his debut film Amour Infinity that takes place at New York's own Mist Harlem at 4pm and 8pm, to chat about what it took to make his first film and what keeps him going. For those perhaps more familiar with Lamothe's latest award-winning work The Tombs but not his earlier films, Amour Infinity (A Brooklyn Love Story)...

Congrats to both Mr. Jerry Lamothe and Mr Alrick Brown on their recognition. The nearly 50,000 professional artists who call New Jersey home form the very heart of the cultural community of this state. And this is just the tip of the iceberg when one considers the thousands more for whom artistic creation, performance and interpretation are a vocational, cultural, religious or recreational interest of the highest personal and community priority. Artists are the creative capital of our communities and this is why it is the Arts Council's goal to promote them, encourage them, assist them to achieve their highest ambitions and help a wider public understand and appreciate all that...

Update 4:30Pm: First, in response to my question below about who the actress is, Alison Willmore over at the mothership (indieWIRE) got the answer. The actress' name is Susan Kelechi Watson (photo with C.K. above). Not familiar? Neither was I, so I looked up her IMDb profile and saw that she's done a lot of TV, with parts in shows like The Good Wife, NCIS, Private Practice, and others. She's also done some work in film (she was in Jerry Lamothe's Blackout in 2007). Secondly, in Alison's piece, C.K. talked specifically about Watson's casting and the fact that she's black, stating: To me, the racial thing is like -- when people probably first see...

Lori WymanLori Wyman Casting, North Miami Beach, Fla.; Florida casting for 'Burn Notice,' 'The Glades,' 'Dolphin Tale,' 'Recount'i actually started out as an assistant in a talent agency. I remember trying to get a local casting director to see an actor. She fought me on it, and finally she saw him and he booked the job. That's when I knew I wanted more of a hand in the actual casting process. I left the agency business and started working in a busy casting director's office before I broke out on my own.I love actors. They're spontaneous and fun and playful. I'm more business, so they help me balance out. I have an excellent memory for names and faces. When I'm casting a project, I have to search the hard drive of my brain to reach for certain actors, and I love having to do that.
