We have to admit that we do have a special interest in projects created by long time, faithful readers, and contributors to S &A; Here is another example. Currently in post-production is the Christian-themed drama, "Keep the Faith," written and directed by L.A. based actor/director Choice Skinner, who is a long time reader and commenter to the site. Unlike his previous short film, "Brotherly Love," "Faith" is a more ambitious, complex feature length film which explores what happens when a young man, Timothy, who, in the directors words “believes in the pleasures that only street life can bring him,” sees his life turned upside...

After collaborating on Patrik-Ian Polk's Blackbird, Isaiah Washington and Mo’Nique will pair up again, to star in another indie drama by another black filmmaker, Choice Skinner, titled We Are Family. You have to appreciate Washington's motivations over the last couple of years or so, attaching himself to smaller, what would be deemed *riskier* independent movies, written and directed by black filmmakers (mostly) who, otherwise, may not have access to an actor of his abilities and name recognition - from Russ Parr to Tony Abulu, to Matthew Cherry, Patrik-Ian Polk, and now Choice Skinner. Of course, I can't leave out his quietly-unnerving performance in Alexandre Moors' Blue...

We have been tracking the progress of the dramatic and powerful short film Brotherly Love, which was written and directed by filmmaker Choice Skinner, who is also a regular reader and commenter on S & A (We always like to endorse anything our devoted readers do film-wise). Now, from Choice comes word that his film has been picked up for distribution on cable, all digital platforms and VOD worldwide by Shorts International. Shorts International is the first HD channel totally dedicated to short films, and is available in the U.S. (through DirecTV and At&T U-verse for a combined total of 7 million homes nationwide), Asia, France, and Turkey. And as for Choice himself,...

Here's the first look behind the scenes for the feature film, Wingman Inc., directed by L.A. based actor/director Choice Skinner (Brotherly Love), who's a long time devoted reader and commenter on S & A. The film, which was written by Tony Germinario and produced by Vincenzo Productions and Skinner's own production company Darkan Entertainment, calls itself a "smart, risqué and humorous comedy [that] explores love and night life in today’s dating scene". Starring Erin Cahill and Kristopher Turner, the film is about Bobby (Turner) who is an extraordinary but modest Wingman for hire who romances and courts Kristy...

Take a look at the short (and I mean very short) film, A Second Thought, by actor/filmmaker Choice Skinner, whose previous dramatic short film, Brotherly Love, was profiled Here on S & A, and is still making the film festival curcuit rounds. A Second Thiought stars Juan Gil and Veronica Mejia, and premiered just last month at the 2012 Boston Latino Film Festival. It was shot in just one day, with Skinner using his iPad and iPhone. I have to admit this new technology baffles me. I have officially become an old fogey.

Alysia Joy Powell, who appeared in last year's Jonah Hill comedy, The Sitter, will topline filmmaker Choice Skinner's indie comedy film, Big and Beautiful. Co-written by Steven Grant, and to be directed by Skinner, who we have profiled before on S & A (his powerful dramatic short film Brotherly Love), the film deals with about a plus-sized woman named Jamela Jenkins (played by Powell), who has recently been cheated on by her fiancee. When her best friend convinces her to attend a weight-loss/self-improvement resort, on an island, to recover from her broken heart, Jamela instead encounters zany people, zany times and new found love and romance...

Update: Thanks to Choice Skinner for sending this to me. Apparently, according to an email he received from the company after he emailed them with an inquiry, he received this response: Unfortunately we are currently only targeting the German market, thus only pursuing German speaking projects. All well and good, but that salient bit of info somehow got ommitted from the press materials that were sent out, and that have been circulating. So this is for you folks in Germany; I know we've got readers in that part of the world. The original post follows below...
