The troubles of Jonah Hex start with his involvement with a confederate troop led by the grim Quentin Turnbull during the United States Civil War. Jonah balks at Turnbull's brutal methods and abandons the troop in such a way that it leads to the death of Turnbull's son. Turnbull gets revenge by burning Jonah's family alive and horribly maiming Jonah before leaving him tied up and left for dead. Jonah is lucky, however, and is picked up by some local Indians, who nurse him back from Death's door, and thus give him an opportunity to set out for revenge against the savagery of Quentin Turnbull.
The above may sound like the first act - it's not. This is all laid out in Jonah Hex in about two minutes as an introduction,...

At first glance, Jonah Hex appears to be nothing more than a questionable credit for several actors who should have stayed far, far away from a project like this. Sadly, seeing the whole movie does nothing to change this. You need look no further than the trailer to see a couple of things that fans of the comic series will find irritating about this adaptation, one being the combination of the “machine gun horse” and the “dynamite crossbow,” and the other being Hex’s newfound ability to bring dead people back to life for a little interrogation. Some may also notice from the trailer that any essence of the classic spaghetti Western feel has been blown to bits and replaced with cheap explosions and music from Mastadon.

See the first trailer for Warner Bros. Pictures' "Jonah Hex." The film is directed by Jimmy Hayward ("Horton Hears a Who!") from the writing by Mark Neveldine, Brian Taylor and William Farmer based on the DC Comics' characters created by John Albano and Tony Dezuniga. Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone... and anything. Having survived death, Jonah's violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the "other side." His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah's past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can't refuse: in exchange for his...

Yahoo! Movies have just premiered the latest poster for the summer blockbuster Jonah Hex, which will be released in theaters on June 18. In the film the U.S. military makes a scarred bounty hunter, Jonah Hex, with warrants on his own head an offer he cannot refuse: in exchange for his freedom, he must stop a terrorist who is ready to unleash Hell on Earth. He is hired to track down Quentin Turnbull, with whom he shares a troubled past. Early rumors emerged about a zombie army or Quentin trying to rewin the war, but these were dismissed when producers said Quentin is more of a terrorist upset about the outcome of the war not someone trying to fight and rewin it.

British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn's comic book adaptation debut Kick-Ass is gearing up for its release in April with various posters and trailers.
Unfortunately, I couldn't attend an advance screening in London so I can't tell you definitively whether it's as good as fans are anticipating - though I'd have been gagged by an embargo until week of release if I had been able to get there.
Vaughn previously directed Layer Cake and Stardust and had been briefly attached to X-Men 3 and Thor, but never ended up directing either of them.
As for his next project, it was reported earlier this month that he was desperate to get his hands on Spider-Man...but then Marc Webb got the gig instead.
In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Vaughn seems to have lost interest in Spider-Man already - "At the moment, I can't read Spider-Man [comics]. Maybe I've just gotten too old for it.
