There’s an old adage in horror: The less you show a monster, the scarier it is. Horror filmmakers are, by necessity, skilled at using darkness and shadows to creep out audiences.

You play a good game, boy, but the game is finished. Now you…pop? Funko will be adding a crucial figure from horror history to its lineup, as Phantasm’s The Tall Man has been announced to receive the Pop! treatment. This is a real treat for fans for a number of reasons, the primary one being that there are actually very few licensed Tall Man properties on the market.
Funko is certainly no stranger to giving horror icons their Pop! due, with genre staples like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Chucky, Leatherface, and more all part of the vinyl toy collection. With Phantasm’s The Tall Man joining the Funko family soon, it shows the company going for a deeper cut aimed at a less marketable series.
While Phantasm has seen five movies released from 1979 to 2016, there has only been one notable figure of The Tall Man in that time.

Back in December, the folks at Spooky Pinball announced that they were making a very limited edition pinball machine inspired by Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. If you (like me) weren’t able to get one of those 888 machines, well, at least that wasn’t our only chance to play a Chainsaw pinball game. A while back, Zen Studios brought a horror-themed pinball game called Pinball M to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Pinball M includes pinball games inspired by the likes of John Carpenter’s The Thing, the Chucky franchise, Dead by Daylight, Duke Nukem, and Zen Studios’ Lovecraft-inspired Wrath of the Elder Gods Director’s Cut – and on June 6th, it will be adding a pinball game inspired by the 2022 film Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

Zen Studios’ horror-themed pinball game Pinball M will be adding another property to its lineup of tables, this time with a table inspired by David Blue Garcia‘s 2022 film Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Players will be able to carve up their victims on June 6, with what’s being referred to as “one of the most brutal pinball tables ever created.”
Players will take on the role of Leatherface, as you terrorize the new arrivals who have dared to come into your town. Just like in the film, you can rev the chainsaw and have a bloodbath on the bus, or sneak up on your unsuspecting victims by shooting the correct targets. Maim and massacre all survivors in order to reach Pinball M‘s Wizard Mode.
“The brutal and unnerving legacy of Leatherface comes to life once again in pinball form,” said Mel Kirk, COO of Zen Studios. “Designer Zoltan Vari did not hold back at all.

If the most terrifying horror monsters are the ones that most reflect real-life terror, then cinematic cannibals might be the most terrifying monsters of all. Unlike vampires, werewolves, or ghosts, cannibals on film are fully flesh-and-blood humans — just with a taste for the flesh and blood of other humans. The garishness of the act makes cannibalism a perfect subject for shock horror, and the cannibal film fully came alive in the ’70s and ’80s via low-budget splatter triumphs like “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Cannibal Holocaust,” which pitted their protagonists against horrific waves of flesh eaters.
In recent years, cannibalism has had a bit of a “moment” — on film, at least. As The New York Times pointed out in 2022, a wave of movies, TV shows, and books exploring cannibalism has emerged in popular culture, from “Yellowjackets” to “Bones and All” to “Fresh.” Many of these projects use the practice as...

Admit it – there’s at least one horror movie out there with a “gotcha” moment that made your heart slam against the inside of your ribcage. A sudden out-of-nowhere reveal, often accompanied by a loud noise on the soundtrack. Scenes like this have been making audiences soil their seats since the era of classic monster movies, and it’s not hard to see why. The response is hardwired into our brains; an instinctive fight-or-flight reflex when our natural defense mechanisms are rudely interrupted. The term “jump scare” wasn’t commonly used to label this effect until the 21st century, and it only really became part of popular culture after the birth of YouTube – which practically weaponized the technique with viral “screamer” videos and clip compilations.

Fifty-one years ago, director Tobe Hooper and his cast and crew spent a blisteringly hot Texas summer working to bring us one of the greatest horror films ever made, the 1974 classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (watch it Here)… and to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the release of the film, legendary drive-in critic and movie host Joe Bob Briggs is writing a book about the making of it!

Actress Sydney Sweeney decided to play the Horror edition of F**k, Marry, Kill game with fellow actress Simona Tabasco in order to promote their 2024 movie Immaculate. The game gave Sweeney and Tabasco a wide variety of characters from popular horror movies and they had to decide who they wanted to f**k, marry or kill.
A still from Immaculate
Judging by her choices, it seems like Sweeney is attracted to masked men as she chose to f**k Michael Meyers when she was asked to choose between Leatherface, Ghostface, and Michael Meyers. Earlier in the game, Tabasco and Sweeney agreed that they would have s*x with Jack Torrence from The Shining because they thought he was hot.

The film comes to movie theaters nationwide on March 22, 2024, and Neon has put together a unique piece of promo marketing this week. They got Sydney Sweeney and co-star Simona Tabasco to play “Fuck, Marry, Kill”… and all the choices are horror movie villains!
“Fuck, Marry, Kill: Horror Edition” features icons like Leatherface, Chucky, Hannibal Lecter, Pinhead, and Michael Myers. Who would Sydney Sweeney kill? Ghostface and Pinhead, for starters. Who would she marry? Believe it or not, Leatherface! As for the other one, we’ll let Sweeney explain in her own words: “I’m gonna fuck Mike Myers.” Hey, we don’t judge!

I’m excited to return to Daily Dead with Archie’s House of Horrors. It’s also a perfect way to kick off Archie Horror in 2024, with a second installment of a title that garnered great success for Archie in 2023: Pop’S Chock’Lit Shoppe Of Horrors. Sequels are ubiquitous when it comes to horror. There’s no better franchise game in media than that of the horror sequels. Series like Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Child’s Play, Saw, Scream, and—probably most notably—Halloween (of which even Archie has had a little fun with Michael Myers in the past), are not just beloved within the horror space, they’re iconic franchises with immediate recognizability. The character with Crampton’s voice and likeness is a Victim character named Virginia.
Here are the details: Virginia is a grief-stricken mother who cannot get over the disappearance of her son Jesse. She’s obsessive over his vanishing and refuses to believe that he could be gone. The weight of her pain is so immense she leaves behind her nursing career to move to Newt, TX, the last location Jesse was seen.

A familiar label for horror fans is getting a resurrection. The latest film in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise – a movie simply titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre – was released through the Netflix streaming service back in February of 2022, and it appeared to do well at the time. It was the second most viewed movie on the service during the February 14 to February 20 time period – which only covered its first three days of release. In those three days, Netflix subscribers streamed the film for a total of 29.18 million hours. Texas Chainsaw Massacre also ranked in the top 10 in 94 countries, reaching #1 on the daily lists in the United States, Bolivia, Brazil, Honduras, Oman, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia. Just a few months later, we heard a rumor that Netflix had ordered two more Chainsaw movies. Now industry scooper Daniel Richtman reports that a new sequel called Texas Chainsaw Legacy is in the works – and while it’s not clear if this is indeed a Netflix production,...

According to a report from Geek Vibes Nation – which cites “Movie insider Daniel Rpk” as its source – a new movie tentatively titled Texas Chainsaw Legacy is in the works.

Which do you prefer when it comes to crazy, maniacal, downright dirty and savage families looking to chop up some grade-a human flesh? I guess, it all comes down to personal preference, but isn’t preference drawing a fine line between comparing and downgrading the other? Well, you’re in luck, because another horror movie rip-off is in tow, and this time it brings the flesh by the pound, or pounds? I think it’s the latter. Today, we’re going to be discussing, a little bit of comparing, and see who claims victor, while the other takes the road less traveled in 2003’s Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses (watch it Here), and Tobe Hooper’s 1986 follow-up in the Leatherface mythos, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (watch it Here). Both are delightful, both are cult classics, ad both stack up well against each other. But who takes the cake,...

Back in October, Trick or Treat Studios previewed a “Dinner Scene Playset” based on the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and today brings the full reveal of the 2024 release.

I’ve only played a few video games over the last twenty years, primarily Halo online multiplayer and the recent Friday the 13th game that was hindered by lawsuits… and gaming sure is different these days than it was in my time, when a game was released in its complete form and then you just played the hell out of it. Now, if a game doesn’t get very frequent updates, players will abandon it very quickly. For example, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game from Gun Interactive and Sumo Nottingham was just released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One back on August 18th, and even though it was updated a new map and a couple new characters at the end of November, I’ve already seen gamers complaining that it’s getting stale and will be pronounced dead if there isn’t another update soon.

The team at Gun Interactive hopped on a live Twitch stream this afternoon to tease what’s coming to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, including “over 150” patches and fixes that are expected somewhere in the ballpark of February 6. But that’s not all, as New Content is also coming soon, and a whole bunch of it was previewed by Gun during the stream today.
The following content will be added to the game throughout the next 90 days…
New Execution Packs with “turned up” brutality. New Weapon Skins for the family members. New Cosmetics for family & victims. New Victim. New Family Member. Museum Mode to explore the family house. *Free* “Shirtless Johnny” Outfit. *Free* “Bride Sissy” Outfit. *Free* New Map: The Mill. *Free*
You can preview brand new map “The Mill” below, which is said to be quite a bit different than the existing maps. With its vertical design, it’ll provide unique gameplay opportunities.

In 1974, Tobe Hooper‘s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre changed the face of horror. Next month, actors Ed Neal, John Dugan, Allen Danziger, Teri McMinn, and William Vail will participate in the first official 50th anniversary cast reunion at Creep I.E. Con in Southern California.

Let me preface this with an important disclaimer: I’m a huge Dead By Daylight fan. In fact, the very first article I’d written for Bloody Disgusting is a piece highlighting its enduring success. I’ve been playing it since 2016, back before it even landed its first classic iconic horror character with Michael Myers, and I believe Behaviour Interactive is largely responsible for putting asymmetrical horror on the mainstream map. When most people hear “asymmetrical horror,” Dead By Daylight likely is the first thing they think of if they’re familiar with the genre. Despite this, I’ve become frustrated with what appears to be a cyclical trap that large swaths of horror fans fall into every single time a new asymmetrical horror game is released:
“It’s another Dead By Daylight ripoff!”
I remember noticing it as early as Gun Media’s Friday the 13th: The Game. Despite...

Paul Giamatti is one of the most highly respected actors working in the industry today, and he’s also quite prolific, with over 115 screen credits to his name. Last night, he won a Golden Globe for his performance in the excellent comedy / drama film The Holdovers – and during a red carpet interview at the event, he revealed there’s one area where he feels his career is lacking: he hasn’t worked on enough horror projects.
Asked if there’s a genre he would love to work in, Giamatti answered, “Horror. I’d like to do more horror. I love horror.” When asked what his favorite horror movie is, he replied, “Oh, that’s a very tricky question. I like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre a lot. I love horror. Love it!” When the interviewer was a bit shocked and appalled that Giamatti is such a Chainsaw fan, Giamatti stood up for it: “Great movie!

"Terrifier 2" might have been a surprise hit in 2022, proving too brutal for even some seasoned horror fans. But you'd never have expected such success based on the original movie. Released in 2016, "Terrifier" took director Damien Leone's psychotic slasher Art the Clown, previously the star of several short films, and built a whole movie around his gory exploits. Sadly, the result was less than impressive. As /Film's Chris Evangelista put it in his "Terrifier 2" review:
"The first "Terrifier" is what I'd call 'crap' [...] While I freely admit the film is loaded with some incredibly practical gore, the movie itself is little more than a plotless, storyless, valueless excuse to showcase that gore and not much else."
Luckily, Leone stepped up his game for "Terrifier 2," as evidenced by the much improved critical response, the $15 million it made on a $250,000 budget, and the fact we'll soon be getting the highly-anticipated "Terrifier 3.

The state of horror in 2023 is strong. Familiar names such as Brandon Cronenberg and Eli Roth returned with "Infinity Pool" and "Thanksgiving" and so did "Re-Animator" screenwriter Dennis Paoli, writer of "Suitable Flesh," his first realized feature script in over 20 years. Old franchises returned, too, with "Evil Dead Rise" and even "Saw X" doing well critically and commercially. Less established filmmakers have also made an impression, namely Nahnatchka Khan, director of "Totally Killer," and Danish debut filmmaker Gabriel Bier Gislason, who helmed "Attachment."
But away from "M3GAN," "When Evil Lurks" and the numerous other highlights, there were still some disappointments that were lackluster, recycled, underplayed, overplayed, or in one or two cases, just underwhelming in almost every aspect of production. There is little pleasure to be had in chronicling such disappointment, but it is a service any critic must provide at one time or another. So let's dig into some...

Playing as the Family in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre arguably entails a steeper learning curve than playing as the Victims. Many will argue that matches are tipped in favor of the Family, and that they’re given more tools to wreak havoc on the Victims than Victims have to escape. However, it takes time, trial and error, and team synergy to best utilize those tools–otherwise, Victims will literally run circles around you as they escape. As such, here are the best tips that I can impart after my many successes (and failures) while playing as the Family.
Your Top Priority Should Always Be to Protect Objectives and Secure the Property
I know you may be thinking–my top priority should be to kill the Victims! But ultimately, the one thing that will prevent you from getting the Victims is an escape route opening up. The moment that a fuse-box is opened,...

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the events of the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the 20th anniversary of the release of the remake, and also the tenth anniversary of an entry in the franchise that has less fans than those two just mentioned: Texas Chainsaw 3D (watch it Here). Recently, our friends at Bloody Disgusting sat down for an interview with one of the film’s writers, Adam Marcus, and during their chat Marcus revealed that the movie lost its cannibalism due to the box office failure of The Midnight Meat Train and lost a couple massacres due to the lower-than-expected budget.
Directed by John Luessenhop and sporting a story credited to Stephen Susco, Adam Marcus, and Debra Sullivan, and a screenplay by Marcus, Sullivan, and Kirsten Elms, Texas Chainsaw 3D has the following synopsis: Decades ago, residents of Newt, Texas, long suspected that the Sawyer family was responsible for the disappearances of many people.

Horror villains may terrify us and give us countless nightmares but that doesn't stop us from shelling out our hard-earned cash to see them hack their way through innocent victims on the big screen. There are innumerable reasons why these murderous figures have become pop culture icons: their signature modus operandi, their unique looks, the one-liners they spout before causing some serious bloodshed, whatever. From Leatherface to Ghostface, from Pinhead to Pumpkinhead, we simply can't take our eyes off the screen when these legendary monsters make their appearance.
However, there's no better way to undermine the terror and mystery of horror villains than by watching the actors who play them goof around behind the scenes. Not only does it destroy the illusion by revealing that these maniacs and monsters are just people in costumes and makeup but it shows that, in reality, they are about as harmless as Casper the Friendly Ghost.

Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s blood-soaked Bollywood epic “Animal,” starring Ranbir Kapoor, emerged as the No. 1 film globally with $42.1 million, according to data published by ComScore.
“Animal” released across 38 global territories. The worldwide gross total includes $6.1 million in North America where it released across 850 locations and opened at No. 7. In India, the film opened at No. 1, grossing $28.8 million over the weekend.
In “Animal,” Ranbir Kapoor plays the son of India’s richest man who takes on an antagonist played by Bobby Deol (“Ashram”). The cast also includes Rashmika Mandanna (“Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1”).
Like Reddy’s previous films, the Telugu-language “Arjun Reddy” (2017) and its Hindi-language remake “Kabir Singh” (2019), “Animal” is a study of toxic masculinity. Reviewing the film for Variety, Dennis Harvey wrote: “There’s the whole issue of toxic masculinity, which Vanga’s previous efforts were decried for celebrating. ‘Animal’ is too ridiculous to take grave offense at,...

Horror fans will recognize Adam Marcus as the director of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday and the co-writer of Texas Chainsaw, two divisive but oft-discussed entries in their respective franchises. He recently returned to the genre to helm Secret Santa, a holiday horror-comedy streaming exclusively on Screambox.
The second installment in our three-part interview with the raconteur focuses on Texas Chainsaw, the 2013 direct sequel to 1974’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, including glimpses at how the original screenplay differs from the final movie.
“When you see the line ‘Do your thing, cuz’ and people are angry at you for writing it, and you didn’t write it, you just start getting really frustrated about the state of modern filmmaking and the voice that filmmakers have,” Marcus confesses.
The Grudge scribe Stephen Susco wrote the first draft, but as Marcus tells it, “Lionsgate did not want his script because it was about cannibals.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
In 1974, director Tobe Hooper brought us The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. An independent production, shot in the heat of a Texas summer, that introduced us to a chainsaw-wielding cannibal called Leatherface. And his twisted family. It was a box office hit. And quickly became one of the most popular and respected horror films of all time. So, of course, there was eventually a remake. Produced by one of the biggest, flashiest filmmakers in the industry. Directed by a music video director in his feature debut. Starring an actress from a family friendly TV show. It sounds like a recipe for disaster. But when the remake was released in 2003, it was another success story.

As of this writing, there are nine movies in the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" series, and sussing out their chronology is one of the more herculean tasks a horror fan may find themselves undertaking. Like the "Halloween" movies, the "Texas Chainsaw" flicks abide by a choose-your-own-adventure structure, with some movies following a definite timeline, and others merrily ignoring previous chapters. Confoundingly, several of them have almost identical titles. The only consistent element of "Texas Chainsaw" is that they are all horrifically violent and unbearably disturbing. But, y'know, in a good way.
The premise of the "Texas Chainsaw" movies is simple. Thanks to rampant American poverty, entire families have been forced to live off the grid in remote, rural parts of the country. One of these families, largely inbred and blissfully detached from conventional morality, has taken to kidnapping passersby, stripping them for meat, and using their skin and bones as construction materials.

Tobe Hooper's "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" is so raw, bleak, and gritty that one could be forgiven for thinking they discovered a legitimate snuff film. The interior of the killer family's household, festooned with human bone-encrusted furniture and lampshades made from skin, looks more like a grim discovery than a constructed set. It's well known among the film's fans that many elements of "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" were inspired by the crimes of notorious murder and arts-and-crafts enthusiast Ed Gein. Gein, who actually lived in Wisconsin, is confirmed to have murdered at least two people, although he frequently plundered a nearby graveyard for building materials. A list of Gein's grisly crafts can easily be found by true crime enthusiasts, and the makers of "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" recreated some of them in shocking detail.

Behaviour Interactive’s global multiplayer horror video game Dead by Daylight celebrated its 7th anniversary earlier this year, and it’s still adding new content. In fact, the game is going to be receiving a major update on November 28th – as that’s the day the iconic killer doll Chucky is going to be added into the mix! The news of Chucky’s addition was broken by IGN, and they were even able to confirm that Brad Dourif is providing Chucky’s voice for the game. Behaviour informed them that players will be able to customize Chucky’s appearance with the Good Gal outfit – which will turn him into his bride Tiffany Valentine, voiced by Jennifer Tilly.
IGN notes, “As you’d expect, Chucky is adept at sneaking around the map, and he has a Slice & Dice ability that lets him lunge at his larger would-be victims in order to more efficiently close the gap.

"Terrifier 2" is one of the most unlikely horror success stories in movie history.
Seriously. A low-budget slasher film this gobsmackingly violent and depraved -- and one with a genre-busting two and a half hour running time to boot -- should not have been a massive critical and financial success. It should not have become the watercooler horror film of 2022. It should not have become the movie youngsters (and future horror fans) dared each other to watch at sleepovers. But it did. Damien Leone's sequel, a massive improvement on his first film in every imaginable way, tapped into something. Some people were clearly drawn to Art the Clown, the sadistic supernatural killer at the center of the film. Others found themselves compelled by the movie's dreamlike tone, and its surprising, off-kilter humanity. But everyone seemed equally fascinated by the gore. On October 25, 2023, the Daily Mail posted an image depicting Art the Clown from the popular "Terrifier" slasher series in his holiday best — a Santa hat and the flayed face of Kris Kringle himself, wielding an axe in front of a Christmas tree. The bottom of the poster had "Damien Leone's Terrifier 3" listed as the title. Considering the abundance of fan art made from the film series, there was debate whether or not this was leaked promotional material or just a well-made bit of fantasy booking. Well, Bloody Disgusting and Cineverse have cleared the air to confirm that the poster was legitimate, and that "Terrifier 3" will be a Christmas horror movie.
