Back when I had Cable.TV, there were lots of shows that I saw come and go before their time. Defying Gravity, Happy Town, and Alcatraz were just a few of the serialized dramas that seemed to get the axe before they ever even had time to develop and grow. I thought about this for a while, and then I thought about other successful serialized dramas. Then I thought about Lost.
Lost was really the one show that actually got me interested in the serialized drama in the first place because, for the most part, it demonstrated the ability to tell a long and sprawling story that was closely connected and rewarded scrutiny. There was really nothing like it at the time, and you have to remember that there really were no other shows out there that demanded the kind of multi-year commitment that Lost required. Lost broke new ground...
