Chris Hemsworth is not here for any MCU hate!
The Thor star recently responded to major film directors - including the likes of Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Francis Ford Coppola - who have shared a negative opinion of comic book movies.
“It felt harsh, and it bothers me, especially from heroes. It was an eye-roll for me, people bashing the superhero space,” Hemsworth told The UK Times. “Those guys had films that didn’t work too — we all have. When they talked about what was wrong with superheroes, I thought, cool, tell that to the billions who watch them. Were they all wrong?”
“Cinema-going did not change because of superheroes, but because of smartphones and social media," he added. "Superhero films actually kept people in the cinemas during that transition and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation.”

If there was a list of the most violent games ever, Mortal Kombat and the Grand Theft Auto franchise would surely be on it. Which other games would make it to the list? When it comes to violence in video games, we have a long list.
So, it is unsurprising that one of the first things people look for in games is combat mechanics. How smooth is it? How responsive are the combat controls? These are the questions that keep getting asked in community forums. But what of the amount of violence? Can violence even be quantified?

Thor Star Chris Hemsworth Reveals Whether He And Brother Liam Were Competing For God Of Thunder Role
When Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were cast in Thor, they were largely dismissed as "nobodies." It seems Marvel Studios wanted unknowns, though, as we know of at least a few other names considered for the McU's God of Thunder, including Chris' brother, Liam.
He'd go on to star in The Hunger Games movies, famously dated Miley Cyrus, and is now gearing up to take over from Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in the final two seasons of The Witcher.
Chris, now a major movie star with several franchises to his name, has opened up on both his and Liam's attempts to be cast as Thor, revealing that while they both auditioned, they were never going up against each other simultaneously.
Asked if he was worried about Liam landing the role instead of him, the Avengers: Endgame star responded, "No, 'cause I was told I didn't have the part at that point,...

Taika Waititi has undoubtedly carved a prominent niche for himself within the expansive universe of the MCU, primarily through his directorial contributions to the last two Thor films. Nevertheless, it is widely acknowledged that amidst his creative endeavors, a critical aspect remains unfulfilled.
Waititi, while helming Thor 4, not only perpetuated his directorial prowess but also, regrettably, veered away from a pivotal narrative arc present in the original Marvel Comics.
Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder
At the heart of this divergence lies the absence of the original Gorr storyline, which in the comics intricately interwoven the narratives of three distinct Thors. This deviation starkly contrasts with the source material and subsequently hampers the potential greatness of Thor: Love and Thunder.
Many fervent enthusiasts argue that if Waititi embraced the essence of the original narrative, the cinematic rendition could have soared to unprecedented heights.

When Avengers: Endgame hit the theatres, many fans knew that they had seen the best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Who could better the hype generated by a band of heroes that united to protect fifty percent of the universe? And they were truly. Since then, the MCU has lost its way here and there, with the new characters failing to generate the hype. Yet, there still remain a few characters who are a part of the old guard, Thor being one such character. And it seems like even his time is up.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. No, it's not quite Christmas time yet, but it is time for new Marvel Cinematic Universe releases. Thanks to Disney+, these occurrences are happening more often each year, which is sure to please all the good little True Believers across the multiverse. However, the latest Marvel Studios Special Presentation is still sure to put everyone in the holiday spirit because, with a month to go until its release, Disney+ has unveiled the first trailer for "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special."

This article contains Thor: Love and Thunder spoilers
Thor: Love and Thunder concluded in the way that all fans of the God of Thunder would have hoped for, with the familiar words ‘Thor will return.’ There was always some speculation that this could be Chris Hemsworth’s last outing as Thor, but it’s clear that either Thor 5 or some kind of spin-off story is in store for the Asgardian warrior.
What could that story involve, though? While it’s easy to speculate about all the directions a potential sequel could go in based on the comic books, Thor: Love and Thunder itself actually gave fans plenty of clues. The post-credits sequences were of course dead give-aways, but outside of those there are a number of other beats that future movies are sure to develop further.
Marvel Studios will continue to ask themselves the question “how can we make Thor feel fresh?...

The final moments of Thor: Love and Thunder propel the film’s leading man into new territory.
Before the credits roll, the film closes out by opening a new chapter in Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) life — from dad bod to dad god. In honoring Gorr the God Butcher’s (Christian Bale) dying wish, Thor effectively adopts Gorr’s daughter, who is brought back to life by Eternity, emerging from the cosmic wishing well with god-like powers. In the aftermath of all the loss that he has endured, the God of Thunder forges a new path with his daughter Love by his side (Love and Thunder, get it?).

Love is a force greater than hate. That simple yet enduring message is at the heart of Thor: Love and Thunder—and to the movie’s credit, the meaning comes through in a way no one expected. Going into the theater for the fourth adventure of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson, most audiences likely anticipated the new film to be a sweet romantic comedy between Thor and Natalie Portman’s returned Dr. Jane Foster, aka the Mighty Thor. It is called “Love and Thunder,” after all.
But as it turns out, the “Love” in Thor 4’s title is not about the bittersweet romance rekindled between Thor and Jane. Nay, this is the tale of a parent’s love for their child finally filling the hole inside their heart. And who better to make Hemsworth’s Thor whole than India Rose Hemsworth,...

It’s hard to believe 11 years have passed since Chris Hemsworth smashed a coffee mug across the floor and shouted “Another!” Yet here we are, more than 20 Marvel movies later, breathlessly awaiting Hemsworth’s eighth live-action appearance as the Space Viking they call Thor and his newest adventure across the cosmos.
As the first Thor movie to be helmed by a returning director, in this case Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi, there’s a lot of connective tissue with that film and this weekend’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor: Love and Thunder begins with the image of a bald man, dehydrated and abandoned, walking through a desert with a small child limp in his arms. It’s remarkable since before this sight, our only impression of the Marvel Studios fourthquel has been marketing that’s reveled in the blithe and psychedelic. As the Love and Thunder title suggests, this is meant to be a goofy romantic comedy, with an emphasis on comedy. Right?
Yet the film starts not on chuckles or kisses; instead it opens with Christian Bale’s forlorn and forgotten Gorr, an alien of nondescript origin who’s been left to suffer by his gods. Taika Waititi, who returns as co-writer and director after Thor: Ragnarok (and winning an Oscar for Jojo Rabbit), still sprinkles in a few of his usual glib one-liners when Bale’s proverbial Job meets his maker, a deity of scathing indifference.

Variants are all the rage these days in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First, we met a number of different Lokis on DIsney+. Then, some Spider-Men showed up to rehabilitate some former foes from across the Spider-Verse. And thanks to Sam Raimi's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," every version of Benedict Cumberbatch's Master of the Mystic Arts thinks they know best.
But if you thought we were done seeing multiples, guess again. While we don't know exactly if she's a variant or not, Natalie Portman returns to the MCU as Dr. Jane Foster in "Thor: Love and Thunder" with a mighty...

After a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Natalie Portman is back and more powerful than ever in the first teaser for “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
The fourth film in the “Thor” series is directed by Taika Waititi, who helmed the well-received “Thor: Ragnarok.” The movie follows on the heels of “Avengers: Endgame,” which ended with Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth), adrift after the fall of his kingdom Asgard, leaving Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The teaser begins with him as a member of the group, with Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel set to reprise their roles. Previous MCU stars Tessa Thompson and Waititi himself — as the rock gladiator Korg — will also return for the film, but the biggest moment of the teaser comes in the final seconds, when Portman’s Jane Foster is revealed as the new Mighty Thor.

After playing the cosmic superbeing and anti-hero Loki for a decade in six Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, actor Tom Hiddleston says he was “surprised, delightedm and in some ways completely thrilled” by the notion of continuing to personify the God of Mischief in the new Marvel/Disney+ series Loki.
“When I first started playing the character, I did a lot of research,” Hiddleston tells Den of Geek. “And the thing I realized at that time was the character has so much range and contains all these different characteristics sometimes which contradict each other. I loved what Marvel Studios had invented as a context for exploring and externalizing some of these things that he’s always contained.”
In Loki, an earlier version of the character than the one we have seen in recent years manages to escape the custody of the Avengers in 2012 with the help of an errant Infinity Stone.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe just can’t seem to quit Tom Hiddleston as trickster God Loki. Both the actor and character he plays are returning for their seventh total Marvel project, the chronologically ambitious Disney+ procedural Loki, on June 9.
In an interview Thursday with EW promoting the new series, however, Hiddleston and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed that the MCU did try to quit Loki several times throughout the franchise’s run. The God of Mischief was marked for death (for good) not once, but twice in the MCU.
As was previously reported, Loki was never intended to make it out of Thor: The Dark World alive. Loki’s death at the hands of Malekith and the Dark Elves was supposed to be permanent, closing off a story arc that began in the original Thor and continued with Loki as the big bad of the first team up film,...

Based on what we know so far, Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder is shaping up to be epic, and there’s going to be so much happening in the movie that several major plot threads established in Ragnarok appear to have been forgotten about among all the excitement.
Of course, that’s completely understandable when you’ve got Natalie Portman returning as Jane Foster to inherit the mantle of Thor, and the actress will assume a much larger and more important role than the thankless one-dimensional love interest she was saddled with in the God of Thunder’s first two installments.
Then there are the Guardians of the Galaxy, who were originally set to cameo, but Chris Pratt’s official announcement as a member of the cast would seem to indicate that Star-Lord will be involved for more than just a throwaway slice of fan service. Which is...

In sweeping terms, Karen Gillan’s Nebula operates in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies in a similar role to the one occupied by Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in the Thor series. Engaged in a lifelong sibling rivalry with sister Gamora and desperate to prove herself worthy of her father’s love, she’s been just as likely to try and kill Zoe Saldana’s character as she has been to save her.
Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame appear to have placed her firmly on the hero side of the divide for the foreseeable future, and evidence is now mounting that the 33 year-old will be involved in Thor: Love and Thunder. Of course, this would hardly be a surprising development given that we’ve known for months that the Guardians will be showing up in the Odinson’s fourth solo outing, but it would indicate that...

Avengers: Endgame might not be the most expensive movie ever made, or even the costliest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the conclusion to the Infinity Saga is arguably the biggest blockbuster to ever come out of Hollywood in terms of sheer scale and spectacle. And with a stacked cast full of superheroes that had all led their own solo franchises to multi-billion dollar success at the box office teaming up to bring an end to a story that had spanned 22 movies and eleven years, it wasn’t surprising when it became the highest-grossing title in history.

While Avengers: Endgame may have shaken the Marvel Cinematic Universe to its core, there’s no chance that it marked the last time we’ll see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes assembled after the four epic blockbusters earned a combined total of close to $8 billion at the box office. Kevin Feige has already hinted as much, but looking at the Phase Four slate, it would appear that there’s not going to be an Avengers movie to wrap things up this time around.
However, that doesn’t mean the franchise is going to be skimping on the scale, spectacle or crossovers that have always been such a key part of the shared mythology’s unprecedented success, and there are three upcoming projects in particular that are set to replicate the Avengers model in wildly different adventures that still offer almost unlimited storytelling scope and potential.

The introduction of Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder will give the Odinson his most dangerous enemy yet. But in addition to that, his presence also has ties to another popular Marvel character, Venom.
Gorr is a vengeful being on a mission to vanquish all deities in retribution for their indifference towards the suffering of mortals, and is able to take on individuals of such power due to his primary weapon, the wonderfully doom-monikered All-Black the Necrosword. The blade is formed from a black mass that bonded with Gorr after he witnessed a battle between its previous owner, the primordial entity Knull, and the final survivor of an army of golden-armored gods that the abyssal deity had slaughtered.
Wielding All-Black, Gorr is afforded a host of powers including superhuman physical capabilities, regeneration and nigh immortality, but it’s the sword’s origin that’s most important here.

She hasn’t been seen in the McU for five years and counting, but Jaimie Alexander looks set to make her long-awaited return as Lady Sif in Thor: Love and Thunder. The actress was a major part of the first two Thor movies, but she sat out Ragnarok due to her commitment to TV’s Blindspot. With the NBC show wrapping up this year, however, the star is now free to reprise her role as the Asgardian warrior in Taika Waititi’s new effort.
Deadline is reporting that Alexander will be returning as Sif opposite Chris Hemsworth’s Odinson and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster Aka the Mighty Thor in the fourth entry in the franchise. In terms of sheer scale and expense, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame are two of the biggest movies ever made, telling a sprawling and epic story that boasts enough characters, subplots, set pieces and spectacle to power ten blockbusters. People will be scratching their heads as to how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will possibly top the two-pronged conclusion to the Infinity Saga, but the upcoming slate of projects will no doubt give it a shot.
Both Thor and its sequel featured a lot of Earthbound action before Taika Waititi took the reins on Ragnarok and reinvented Chris Hemsworth’s Odinson as the star of a wacky intergalactic buddy comedy, but despite the rich vein of humor running throughout the movie, there were still some massive action scenes and sweeping visuals.

As a literal god, there’s no clear analogy for Thor’s powers and abilities. This is especially true after he takes up the mantle of All-father, which allows him to access Odinforce and pretty much gives the God of Thunder omnipotence. But going into Thor: Love and Thunder, Chris Hemsworth’s Odinson and Jane Foster’s Goddess of Thunder might develop a bit of a rivalry in terms of raw strength.
Now that Natalie Portman has confirmed Jane will be wielding Mjolnir in the upcoming flick, we have an idea as to what that’ll entail. After all, Steve Roger already did it in Avengers: Endgame, allowing him to channel lightning and increase his endurance against Thanos. Odin’s incantation is also pretty clear in this regard: “Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.”

None of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s marquee characters have gone through anywhere near as much trauma as Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Not only has he lost both of his parents and seen his brother die more than once, but his entire homeworld and half of its population were wiped out right in front of his one remaining eye, while he carried the burden of feeling personally responsible for Thanos destroying half of all life in the universe when he failed to go for the head at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
This led to a downward spiral of alcohol, carbs and depression, and the God of Thunder we meet in Avengers: Endgame is a far cry from the brash and cocky hero audiences had grown accustomed to. It set him up for the most interesting arc across the epic double header, though, as Thor sought to restore himself to former glories.

Natalie Portman recently let slip that her character will be battling cancer in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder just like her comic book counterpart. But according to a new theory, Taika Waititi could explore this aspect of Jane Foster’s Goddess of Thunder in a different manner.
The next chapter in the story of Thor will have him face his ultimate challenge as Odinson. In the Marvel comics, the God of Thunder becomes unworthy of Mjolnir, and so loses his powers. The hammer then finds a new owner in Jane, who takes up the mantle of Thor. As we’ve seen, however, Waititi always heads down the unexpected road with his creative decisions. So, it’s still early days to speculate how the film will adapt the story for the big screen.

Thor: Love and Thunder has been delayed (along with every other McU project) until spring 2020. The good news, though, is that it continues to look like the most interesting upcoming Marvel movie on the slate, with director Taika Waititi building on the excellent Ragnarok and continuing Thor’s arc after he gave the throne of Asgard to Valkyrie. But the main attraction has to be Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir.
The plot of the film is set to be a loose adaptation of the Lady Thor arc, which saw Thor unable to lift Mjolnir and being replaced by a mysterious female version. This turns out to be Jane, and after witnessing her in action, an initially skeptical Thor concedes that she’s worthy and adopts the new name of Odinson, leaving her to carry on the superheroics.

Both fans and critics widely consider Avengers: Age of Ultron to be the weakest of the four assemblies of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and it seems clear from watching the movie that Joss Whedon’s heart was no longer in it. Having acted as the steward of Phase Two, the filmmaker was creatively burnt out and found himself constantly being overruled by the studio. It also feels like an uninspired rehash of the team’s first outing, as an all-powerful villain travels across the globe with the intention of taking over the human race, before the Avengers make one final stand in a heavily-populated area against an army of faceless CGI creations.
Age of Ultron might not have lived up to the hype and expectation that surrounded it, but it still remains an integral part of the canon after introducing the likes of Scarlet Witch and Vision into the franchise.

The McU depicted Asgard as the ruling seat of gods, leaning heavily on the mythological aspects of the Nordic folklore to introduce the strongest Avenger.
