NewsNavroze was an important contributor to the documentary field in India, and served as the cinematographer for many award-winning feature films, and documentaries.Navroze Contractor, a multi award winning cinematographer, photographer, superbike enthusiast, cricket player, coach and administrator, and writer, passed away in a road accident, on Sunday, June 18. He was 80-years-old. The accident took place near Hosur, when he was returning on his sports bike along with his friends. Another bike had hit Navroze’s bike, and he was rushed to the Denkanikottai Hospital in Tamil Nadu but did not survive. It had been his routine to go on bike trips every weekend. The International Film Festival Rotterdam has unveiled its competition juries for its 52nd edition. U.S. producer Christine Vachon, whose credits include “Boys Don’t Cry,” “Far From Heaven” and “Carol,” and Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz, who won Venice’s Golden Lion for “The Woman Who Left,” are among the Tiger Competition jurors. The first titles in the Short and Mid-Length strand have been revealed as well as a program that looks at the socio-political development of India over the past 30 years.
Festival director Vanja Kaludjercic said the announcements are “testament of the broadening and deepening of our program, from the delights of the Short and Mid-Length program, to a vital delve into contemporary India – surprising our audiences with great films that underline relevant and pressing issues.”

An assortment of 14 Indian films from the 1970s and the 1980s will be screened at the upcoming 44th edition of the prestigious Festival des 3 Continents which is set to be held from November 18 to November 27, 2022 in Nantes, France.
The special section at the festival will also highlight the finest films dating back to the 1970’s and 1980’s from Africa, Latin America and Asia in addition to the Indian films. Among the stalwart Indian directors whose films will be screened are Ritwik Ghatak, Aravindan Govindan, ‘Amma Ariyan’ director John Abraham and Saeed Akhtar Mirza.
