For anyone who watches “The Way Home” knows that sometimes, it can get a little confusing with so many different time periods going on at once. That’s the case for the executive producers too. During an FYC panel for the hit Hallmark Channel series on May 8, the showrunners admitted that it takes a lot of work and research to keep everything straight.
“We start at the end and then kind of work backward. We had a wonderful plan right from the start when Marly Reed created the show and wrote a beautiful bible for it. Alex and I were just so lucky to be part of it and develop it,” said co-showrunner Heather Conkie, referring to her daughter and co-showrunner, Alexandra Clarke. “We really had a three, four, five-year plan? And we’re now working on the third year. We see what worked from the first two years and it’s a process.

George R.R. Martin is famous for crafting the epic fantasy saga A Song of Ice and Fire, which extends across several novels. The Targaryens are some of the most fascinating characters from the books, with Emilia Clarke playing the role of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, the television adaptation of Martin’s books.
Emilia Clarke played a member of the Targaryen family in Game of Thrones.
During a blog post, Martin addressed some of the criticism aimed at his books, while also revealing a major change he wished to make to the Targaryens. The change would have not only impacted the Targaryen bloodline and their story but also made it impossible for Clarke to play her most famous role. Here is what George R.R. Martin wanted to change about the Targaryens.

Something in the Water opens with an attack in a London subway station. Not by a shark on its way to visit relatives at the aquarium, but by a group of homophobes who take objection to Meg and Kayla daring to hold hands in public. It leaves Meg with mental and physical scars, as well as causing the pair to break up.
A year later, Lizzie and Dominic are getting married at a Caribbean resort, reuniting several old friends including Dominic’s sister Cam, Ruth and, much to each other’s dismay, Kayla and Meg. Now that everyone is here, they just need to do something stupid so they can become shark bait. Cam takes care of that by suggesting they all pile into a small motorboat...

The Requin. The Reef: Stalked. The Black Demon. Now Something in the Water. I’m reaching my breaking point with shark attack movies that are too distracted by other plotlines to deliver on their promise: shark attacks. Hayley Easton Street’s Something in the Water might be the biggest offender listed, taking roughly thirty minutes until the first shark-related incident, then another fifteen(ish) minutes for the first of frustratingly few substantial shark spottings. Cat Clarke’s screenplay tries to establish poignant storytelling about hate crimes, broken relationships, and debilitating traumas, but in doing so, forgets about the massive shark plastered all over the film’s marketing materials. Street and Clarke aim to elevate shark cinema with emotional throughlines, but sink the entire project with an alarmingly imbalanced approach.

Exclusive: After successfully launching the Extraction film franchise at Netflix, director Sam Hargrave has his eyes set on another potential franchise with a piece of IP that is revving its engines to get out the gate. Sources tell Deadline that Skydance and Mattel Films have closed a deal with Hargrave to direct a live-action movie based on Matchbox, Mattel’s iconic real-world die-cast toy vehicle line. David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper are penning the script.
Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce alongside Robbie Brenner for Mattel Films. The project will be shepherded by Aimee Rivera for Skydance and Elizabeth Bassin and Andrew Scannell for Mattel Films.
The iconic Matchbox brand was invented in 1953 by automotive enthusiast Jack Odell to solve a challenge for his daughter, who was allowed to take a toy to school only if it was small enough to fit in a matchbox.

Emilia Clarke is effortlessly one of the most beloved actresses in Hollywood, with her acting chops, beauty, wit, and personality — all leaving her audiences truly stunned. Among all the roles she has donned to date across multiple genres, her most acclaimed performance still remains her iconic portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, which also gifted her most of her fame.
Emilia Clarke in Secret Invasion.
However, even after achieving that impeccable feat through the novels-based television series, Clarke was quite a bit dissatisfied with it for a peculiar reason. And, surprisingly enough, this reason wasn’t related to the controversial ending of the series — which notably saw her character getting murdered at the hands of her very own lover, Jon Snow — but for another reason entirely.

Emilia Clarke’s arc in Game of Thrones has been a subject of both fury and annoyance over the years — and for good reason. Be it her manipulative benevolence, or little by little transformation into the Mad Queen, or her full-blown turn to tyranny — Danaerys Targaryen’s journey has been a rollercoaster ride and her character remains an enigma whose first moment is as memorable as her last, and every second in between is just as remarkably imprinted on the audience’s memory.

It is one such moment that had Emilia Clarke breathing a sigh of relief while filming a particularly seductive scene on the show.

After Kat declared, “I wish Dad was here to see this,” to her little brother, the show moved to a flashback of a very young Colton in period clothing talking to an old woman about how it wasn’t his time to go in the pond. Another flashback revealed that it was actually adult Colton (Jefferson Brown) standing in the bushes watching himself with a young Jacob (Remy Smith) at the...

Exclusive: There’s a lot of movement from agents that used to work at A3 Artists Agency.
A pair of agents – Marienor Madrilejo and Emma Clarke – who joined Gersh from A3 after the former acquired the latter in a deal in January are now leaving the Phil Gersh-founded agency.
Madrilejo was VP, Digital and Clarke was an agent in its digital and alternative programming division.
Madrilejo was previously a senior agent in A3’s alternative programming, digital media, licensing and branding division, having spent over eight years at the company. She is understood to be leaving the representation business.
Clarke spent four years at A3 including nearly three of them as an agent in the alternative division. Clarke is believed to be moving into the management side of the business at a boutique agency specializing in digital representation.
This comes after A3 sold its digital and alternative departments to Gersh,...

Her third professional role was as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO drama series Game of Thrones, based on George R. R. Martin’s fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire.

Tamzin Merchant was the actress originally cast as the character of Daenerys, but the role went to Clarke when the pilot episode was reshot in early 2010 (via Yahoo). If you feel like you’re getting too involved in your work where you aren’t in a high position, people are going to oppose you. Well, that’s what’s up with Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani ever since the actress had some comments about the MCU.

HBO’s Game of Thrones wrapped up in 2019, but its impact and influence continue to flourish in pop culture, especially with its prequel series, House of the Dragon. The fantasy series is known for its rich storyline and brilliant foreshadowing of events, which seemed to have inspired a 2015 music parody of Taylor Swift’s ‘Blank Space’.

The writing process of "2001: A Space Odyssey" is the stuff of cinema legend. Stanley Kubrick wanted to make a science fiction movie about humanity's place in the universe -- one that would be careful to capture the awe, mystery, and grandeur of such a meditation. He initially looked to an Arthur C. Clarke short story called "The Sentinal," but would ultimately collaborate with Clarke more directly. Their screenplay for "2001" and Clarke's novel were written simultaneously. It's hard to say if the screenplay is based on the book or if the book is a novelization of the screenplay.
"2001: A Space Odyssey" is full of cosmic mysteries and eerie iconography that may seem a little baffling at first. Why, some first-time-watching teens may ask, does the picture start in the distant, prehistoric past when humans hadn't yet evolved on Earth? What is the meaning of the strange black monoliths that appear periodically throughout the film?...

Many of cinema’s hard men are notorious softies in real life. Ray Winstone may well be one of those, even if he admits to not looking particularly approachable.
“My wife always says to me, ‘Why do you look like you’re going to kill someone when you walk into a room?'” he tells Variety. “But I don’t mean to!”
Winstone’s long-standing status as the go-to man to depict violent approach-with-caution individuals or British mob bosses continues to serve him, however, as “The Gentleman” — Guy Ritchie’s eight-part Netflix spinoff of his 2019 gangster comedy feature of the same name — proves. In the series, awash in the classic Ritchie mix of guns, drugs, violence, aristocrats, boxing and tweed, Winstone stars as a gangland patriarch and head of a massive weed-growing empire. Because of course he does — who else would you cast as an elder statesman than the actor...

There's a lot of bad CGI out there these days, from CGI monsters that missed the mark to the truly abysmal digital effects in last year's "The Exorcist: Believer." But as any avid viewer of the Corridor Crew's "VFX Artists React" series will know, there's also a lot of awe-inspiring stuff being done with CGI. James Cameron's "Avatar: The Way of Water" included a scene so convincing it had us questioning reality, and there's been no shortage of jaw-dropping CGI moments in "Star Wars" history.
Often, due to the prevalence of CGI in modern filmmaking, we don't necessarily think about the incredibly meticulous work that goes into creating such moments. Take "Game of Thrones" for instance. In a show as epic and effects-laden as HBO's monster hit series, you might expect the VFX artists to have encountered issues with rendering the variety of exotic beasts or grand landscapes. In reality,...

FX’s Shōgun series is currently being compared by fans and critics with HBO’s hit fantasy show Game of Thrones, and director Jonathan van Tulleken disagrees with the claims. While he acknowledges the fact that it is a spectacle, the filmmaker has another comparison in mind.
FX’s Shōgun
Shōgun was created by Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks as a limited historical drama series based on James Clavell’s 1975 novel of the same title. The cast includes Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis, Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano, Takehiro Hira, Tommy Bestow, and Fumi Nikaido.

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 1 and The Last of Us episode 3.
There’s no dating in the apocalypse … at least not for the first few years. It’s all raw survival, never-ending panic, and flashes of joy and ingenuity that keep humanity going just enough to persevere. At least that’s what all the end-of-the-world tales tell us.
In recent years, stories like Station Eleven and The Last of Us have depicted various permutations of disrepair that society might fall into after a deadly global pandemic. When a large portion of the population is just gone and every day is a fight to stay alive, standards and realities change. Instead of meeting by the bar, two lovers might meet staging a coup against a rogue government agency, falling into a booby trap, or perhaps even during a delivery of infant formula to a prison gate.

A new Paranormal Activity videogame, from the creator of The Mortuary Assistant, has been announced. It should be ready in 2026.
The Paranormal Activity films have been terrorising audiences with their ambient, low-res hauntings for 17 years, and now it’s getting a videogame adaptation from designer Brian Clarke and DarkStone Digital.
Clarke previously made the 2022 horror game The Mortuary Assistant, which quickly went viral thanks to its found-footage-style scares. Interestingly, Clarke was directly inspired by Paranormal Activity when he made the game, so being commissioned to make an official adaptation brings things neatly full-circle.
“The success of the Paranormal Activity franchise epitomises the power and reach of the horror genre,” Clarke said in a statement shared with Gamespot. “If you thought The Mortuary Assistant was scary, we’re taking what we learned during the development of that title and cranking it up with a more reactive and horrifying haunting system. It’s going to be intense!

Producer Jason Blum had said the Paranormal Activity franchise went dormant for a while after the release of 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension because he felt the series had gotten tired – and it wasn’t his idea to make Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, a failed attempt at a revival (that he described as “terrible”), back in 2021. He has been open about the fact that he feels there has been “enough already” when it comes to Paranormal Activity movies. But that doesn’t mean the franchise can’t continue in other ways. A few months back, we heard there’s a stage play in development, and now Variety has broken the news that a Paranormal Activity video game will be released in 2026!

After HBO’s Game of Thrones came to a divisive end, audiences began expressing their disappointment over the decisions that were made in the show. Infuriated fans even wanted HBO to redo the entire final season. That’s when netizens began wondering if things would have ended differently, had they turned the show into a film series.
Sophie Turner, Kit Harington, Isaac Hempstead-Wright and Maisie Williams in Game of Thrones
It’s only obvious for people to consider the path not taken, especially when the outcome proves disappointing. That is exactly why fans began debating for the years to come if Game of Thrones would have been better off as a film franchise. Recently showrunners David Benioff and D.B. There’s a very specific emotion I felt while watching Expats, Lulu Wang’s drama series about American expatriates in Hong Kong: frustration.
There was also admiration, of course, and enjoyment and suspense, but at some point, while watching the performances of Sarayu Blue and Brian Tee, the indignation set in: We could have been seeing them do this kind of work this whole time?
It’s a reaction that uniquely arises when you finally witness the full potential of someone whose face (if not name) has been a familiar presence on screens for quite a while, but almost always in a supporting role where they are serving the story — just not their story.
These artists tend to disproportionately hail from historically excluded backgrounds, often cast to make an ensemble diverse but usually relegated to bridesmaid and never the bride. The rising star Iman Vellani who appeared as Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, and stunned fans with her prolific performance, surprisingly had no prior acting experience. Landing a lead role in a Disney+ series, despite no prior acting experience is something rare that happened to Vellani in the entertainment industry.

“If I were Boris Johnson, I wouldn’t want to read it” said the Sunday Times review of Rachel Clarke’s Covid-19 NHS frontline memoir Breathtaking. If I were Boris Johnson, and capable of experiencing shame, I wouldn’t want to watch this humane, truth-telling TV adaptation either.
Breathtaking is not about Boris Johnson or the corridors of power; it’s an unvarnished record of what happened in the corridors and wards of NHS hospitals during the Coronavirus pandemic. Over three one-hour episodes based on Clarke’s experiences and research interviews, it follows fictional consultant Dr Abbey Henderson (Joanne Froggatt) and colleagues through the early days and the worst of the virus.
Why should we have to go through all of that again on screen – wasn’t once enough? Perhaps. But if your pandemic, like mine, was more about sourdough and Joe Wicks than pain and loss, then it feels...

[This story contains spoilers through the fifth episode of Expats, “Central.”]
A show called Expats understandably focuses on the cosmopolitan lives of those privileged enough to make their fortunes abroad, and for most of the Amazon limited series’ six episodes, it does just that, following neighbors Margaret (Nicole Kidman) and Hilary (Sarayu Blue). The two wealthy women live in Hong Kong’s tony Victoria Peak neighborhood, as well as Mercy (Ji-young Yoo), the American drifter who complicates both of their lives. To recap: Mercy was tasked with watching Margaret’s two sons during a night market outing when the younger one disappeared. A year later, Gus is still missing, and Mercy is having an affair with Hilary’s husband, David (Jack Huston).
But the fifth episode drifts away from the trio of protagonists to focus on characters that have heretofore existed in the background, sometimes literally. “Central” (each episode of Expats is named after a geographically significant area in...

While the entire world was fighting a pandemic back in 2020, Gerard Butler came out with an apocalyptic thriller, Greenland, directed by Ric Roman Waugh. Even though the movie did not do too well at the box office, it received generally positive reviews from both fans and critics thanks to the exhilarating and emotional journey of the Garrity family.
Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin in Greenland (2020)
After Greenland’s release, the possible sequel found itself in a bit of a conundrum thanks to one of its co-producers.
