Heading into the 2023 Video Music Awards, all eyes were on Taylor Swift, and she delivered. Swift swept the live awards show, winning all four of her categories that were announced during the live MTV broadcast.
Out of the 11 nominations Swift received, she won in all categories but two. Song of the Summer went to Jung Kook ft. Latto for “Seven,” and Olivia Rodrigo won Best Editing for “vampire.” Neither of these categories were presented during the live broadcast of the awards show.
But the rest — which included best pop, song of the year, best direction, artist of the year, show of the summer, album of the year, best visual effects, best cinematography and the highly coveted video of the year — all went to Swift. In fact, Swift’s Video of the Year award marks the fourth time the singer and songwriter has received this award, the most of any artist in VMAs history.

Taylor Swift is heading into the 2023 Video Music Awards poised to break her own record. With the nomination of “Anti-Hero” for Video of the Year, Swift may be the first artist to ever win the honor four times, beating the record she set just last year.
To date, Swift is the only artist to win MTV’s Video of the Year on three separate occasions. In 2022, she took home the honor for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version).” In 2015, she won for “Bad Blood (featuring Kendrick Lamar),” and in 2019 she won for “You Need to Calm Down.”
Video of the Year is far from the only nomination Swift received. The singer and songwriter was nominated in eight categories altogether, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing.

Netflix’s new rom-com “The Perfect Find” isn’t short on great music. The original film stars Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers as Jenna Jones and Eric Combs as well as Gina Torres, who plays Darcy Hale. Jenna’s journey back into fashion comes at a price — begging her old nemesis for a job at her fashion magazine Darzine. Jenna also puts herself back out there for love, and she finds a real connection with Eric — until she realizes he’s Darcy’s son.
The film adaptation of Tia Williams’ novel contains a great soundtrack of music by Black artists. The soundtrack complements references to Nina Mae McKinney, Aretha Franklin and more, and strides between older hits from past decades and modern singles that are popular in the present day to capture the full spectrum of art.

When Madonna introduced Sam Smith and Kim Petras at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, the subject of the singer’s appearance overshadowed both her message—“You are seen, you are heard, and most of all, you are appreciated”—and the symbolic significance of a legendary gay icon and activist introducing two openly queer pop stars on national TV. The sight of a 64-year-old woman’s face seemed to send more people clutching for their proverbial pearls than the “Unholy” duo’s supposedly profane performance. The march of progress is slow and, apparently, isn’t straight.
The day after the Grammys, Smith and Madonna—cheekily dubbing themselves “S&m”—met up in a studio to record the throbbing, two-and-a-half-minute house song “Vulgar.” Calling it a “song” is, perhaps, too generous, as the ballroom-inspired bitch track merely gestures toward the structure of a conventional pop song, with half-rapped verses and a...

Lola Brooke's big moment has finally arrived, but she's not wasting any time reveling in it. The Brooklyn-bred, freshly signed Arista Records rapper says she finds herself "everywhere at one time" these days - from being a trending topic on social media to performing on major stages with some of the biggest names in the rap game (Future and A Boogie wit da Hoodie so far). That's largely thanks to the success of her 2021 breakout smash, "Don't Play With It," which she also performed for her viral From the Block Performance. Brooke can't even begin to describe what this moment means to her, but she tells Popsugar it's been a long time coming.
"I've waited for these moments for so long that it's starting to feel like, 'Alright, what's the next thing?'"

Lil Nas X may be busy with his "Long Live Montero" world tour right now, but he's already thinking about his next album. The "Industry Baby" artist released his debut album, "Montero," in September 2021, roughly three years after he made a huge splash with his Grammy-winning "Old Town Road" record. Now, the singer tells Popsugar he's "absolutely" in the midst of creating his next solo body of work.
"I've been writing for about a year."
"I was literally in between writing a song as I picked up this call," he shares. "I've been writing for about a year. I'm still trying to get to that thing that I really, really want for a song and then move from there. I'm not exactly sure [of the sound] yet, but I'm in this really interesting pocket right now."

Lil Nas X is currently on the road, shutting down shows on his "Long Live Montero" world tour. "Definitely a big growing period for me, moving around so much every night."
"I'm genuinely excited to work with such an iconic brand, such as M&m's, and to be doing this with an inspired connection through music," Lil Nas X tells Popsugar. "It's very powerful. Madonna has seemingly come out. In a new video shared to TikTok Sunday, the pop icon implied that she’s gay.
Jumping on the back of a new TikTok trend, a pink-haired Madonna aimed to throw a pair of fuchsia underwear in the garbage. The words “If I miss, I’m Gay,” flashed across the screen as the 64-year-old singer threw and failed to sink the underwear into the open garbage can. She then threw her hands up in acceptance and playfully turned away from the camera, hand on hip.
The video came with no caption, but plenty of comments, with fans and followers of the “Material Girl” singer praising her for seemingly coming out.
“Did I just witness Madonna coming out, good for her,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Welcome.”

Saucy Santana is capping his booked-and-busy summer with “I’m Too Much,” a high-energy braggadocious track that embraces everything that makes him extra — and extra fun to listen to. The song is littered with sharp quips at his haters like “I’m Saucy, stay flossing/I got something you ain’t got — options!” and “I’m the big budget, iconic/You a broke boy/I vomit” (complete with ad-libbed gagging). After the second of several quick and lethal verses, an electrifying saxophone break takes the track to a new level.
