Those who watch the show regularly know that there is a regular cast of behind-the-scenes individuals that viewers get to know. Michael Gelman, better known as just “Gelman,” is one such person. The Spiderwick Chronicles made its debut on Roku this past Friday and for the show’s press junket, I got to sit down and have a brief but delightful conversation with two of the show’s stars. Jack Dylan Grazer, best known for the two Shazam films and Pixar’s Luca, who voices the mischevious boggart Thimbletack, and Alyvia Alyn Lind, whose previous work includes The Young and The Restless as well as the Chucky TV series, who plays Mulgarath’s adopted daughter Calliope.

Magic is all around in the world of The Spiderwick Chronicles. Most of it is hidden away from the eyes of humans, tucked into obscure corners or shielded from human eyes by glamours. Still, those with hearts and minds open enough to see what’s in front of them — like our 15-year-old hero Jared (Lyon Daniels) — might find in the sleepy town of Henson, Michigan, a veritable haven of otherworldly life. Unicorns frolic in a glen. Sprites flutter alongside fireflies at dusk. Just outside the doors of a nondescript grocery, a goblin market trades in mythical weapons and pumpkin spice lattes.
But if such extraordinary sights are everywhere, the sense of wonder that ought to accompany them proves to be in disappointingly short supply. Even as The Spiderwick Chronicles‘ head drifts into the clouds, powered by fantasies of faeries and ogres and witches and dragons, the Roku Channel adventure is...

I’ll be honest, I had no idea what to expect going into The Spiderwick Chronicles. The original books, despite likely being right up my Percy Jackson-loving alley, completely passed me by as a kid. And while I have vague memories of the trailers for the 2008 film adaptation, I never actually saw the film for myself.
As such, I cannot speak to how the new series, originally produced for Disney+ and nearly thrown in the bin as a cost-cutting measure before being rescued by The Roku Channel, plays as an adaptation or how faithful it is to the source material; though given that the original authors are executive producers, I imagine it’s at least faithful enough.

A teenage boy's penchant for finding some form of trouble is worth studying.
In Lifetime's newest original film, Friday Night Sext Scandal, we have a storyline inspired by real events.
It intends to explore the dark underbelly of the high school experience regarding teenage boys who go on the hunt for sexually explicit photos from their female counterparts.
And in true Lifetime fashion, they explore the scandalous nature behind this from a different perspective.
The film focuses on one teen boy's experience of getting reeled into these deplorable actions.
The film stars Riverdale's Anthony Timpano as Shawn, a 16-year-old jock who is just starting to see advancement in his football career when he's upgraded to a starter on the team.
Of course, with advancement in the athletic realm comes increased popularity and the opportunity to hang out with upperclassmen, too.
And we all know very little good comes from associating with upper-class jocks.

Tickets for Lucinda Williams’ tour are currently on sale after the singer released her new album Stories from a Rock n Roll Heart.
This comes three years since Williams suffered a stroke and lost the ability to use the left side of her body. Since then, Williams has been in rehab in an attempt to learn how to relearn how to walk and do other basic functions. Not only did she suffer from a serious medical condition, but in 2020 she also experienced her Nashville home being damaged by a tornado and went through the pandemic.
She announced the album back in April on her Instagram, sharing a sneak peek of her new single “New York Comeback” and officially launched it in June. It was a challenging process for the singer to create the album, as she had to invent a new songwriting procedure due to her being unable to play the guitar anymore.

Anya Chalotra has enchanted “The Witcher” audience as Yennefer of Vengerberg for two seasons, and reprises the role again in Season 3 — this time promising a “new phase” for the sorceress.
Last year, her co-star Henry Cavill shockingly revealed that this season is set to be his last (the role of Geralt will be taken over by Liam Hemsworth), but Chalotra isn’t going anywhere. “There are so many situations Yennefer hasn’t been in yet,” the actor tells Variety. “And it’s only until I experience that with the character that I know where she would go, how she chooses to get out of a certain situation or get into one.”
Chalotra — who was as surprised by Cavill’s exit as the fans were — has already been in touch with Hemsworth by email, and is “excited” for him to bring a new energy to the show.

ITV’s “Malpractice” does a deep dive into the corruptions and criminalities that often remain unseen in the medical world, where lives are saved, yet death is an inevitability, no matter how good a doctor might be. Grace Offori-Attah presents a show where Dr. Lucinda Edwards finds herself in the middle of an investigation following a patient’s death under her supervision. Season 1 was a blast, and we can’t deny it was a poignant experience watching a doctor battling addiction try her best to juggle between saving her own life from falling apart and doing her duty of saving lives, even sometimes at the cost of her own wellbeing. But the first season ends on a major cliffhanger, and we need to have “Malpractice” Season 2 at the earliest to find out what happens to Lucinda “Luce” Edwards and the team at Accident and Emergency at the West Yorkshire Royal Hospital.

Grace Ofori-Attah’s medical drama on ITV, “Malpractice,” is a deeper look into the negligence and misdeeds that happen inside a hospital where organizations make millions by making use of illegal ways. Niamh Algar plays Dr. Lucinda Edwards, a doctor dealing with addiction who finds herself in a difficult situation when a patient in her care accidentally dies. What follows is a complete breakdown of her seemingly good life, with investigations launched against her and her family life falling apart. Ofori-Attah’s show is engaging, gripping, and shows the exact tensions that doctors are faced with on a regular basis while saving patients’ lives. In a world of unlimited content and some rather bad TV, “Malpractice” might be a welcome change for you if you’ve enjoyed shows like “Dr. House” or “Grey’s Anatomy.” Here’s what happens in this 5-part series:

“Music was my therapy for the many traumas I suffered as a child,” Lucinda Williams writes in her new memoir, Don’t Tell Anybody the Secrets I Told You. Those traumas include her mother’s mental illness, which created a volatile and often unpredictable environment for Williams and her two siblings, the eventual divorce of her parents, and her own battles with obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and self-esteem issues. Elizabeth Hubbard, who appeared 14 times on Broadway and had long runs as Dr. Althea Davis and the cutthroat Lucinda Walsh on the daytime soap operas The Doctors and As the World Turns, respectively, has died. She was 89.

She portrayed Dr. Althea on NBC’s The Doctors from 1964-82 and the manipulating mogul Lucinda on CBS’ As the World Turns from 1984 until the show’s conclusion in September 2010. (Lucinda and Larry Bryggman’s John Dixon headed off to Amsterdam at the end.)
“I’ve been so lucky playing Lucinda — a character who could do anything,” she told TV Guide in 2010. “She could lie,...

The clichéd view of genius-level artists dictates that brilliance comes with the heaviest of tolls. The greats, the pioneers — these people are tortured from the crib and grow up unloved or abused. Some can feign happiness, but, deep down, they're driven by grievance and frequently undone by inner demons. Worst case, they bounce from marriage to marriage and neglect their children, who subsequently hate them and wind up writing a tell-all memoir. Best case, they're miserable jerks who can't enjoy the riches and plaudits bestowed upon them.

She is completely unguarded in interviews. There is no mystery to her. She is, by her own admission, a happily married mother of four whose greatest personal tragedy is that she cannot carve out the...
