What happened to Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5? That’s the question on fans’ minds after it was revealed Below Deck Med Season 9 will air following Below Deck Season 11.
Ever since Below Deck Sailing Yacht premiered on Bravo, it has followed the Og show.
Below Deck Med would then hit Bravo airwaves once the sailing show had wrapped it’s run.
That’s the way it’s been for the past four years, except for last year when Below Deck Down Under Season 2 aired after Below Deck Sailing Yacht.
So why all of a sudden is there a switch in the schedule, especially since Below Deck Med Season 8 just ended in January?
Let’s take a look at what we know.

Bravolebrity, Captain Sandy Yawn, is engaged!
Last weekend, the “Below Deck Mediterranean” star popped the question to her longtime girlfriend of over five years, Leah Shafer.
“I have been thinking about marrying Leah for years,” Yawn told E! News, confirming the couple’s engagement. “I knew from the minute I met her, but the timing had to be right. I wanted to make sure we could truly do life together first.”
Yawn, who really began thinking about proposing back in April, then shared how the milestone moment came to be.
“Leah wanted the fairytale, and to me, Leah represents elegance. I planned a boat ride to a beautiful cove. I had it decorated with flowers with a path to a small table accompanied by three violinists where we could sit and have a small date,” the super-yacht captain recalled. Photos of the proposal can be seen in E! News’ story.

Peter Hunziker was recently introduced to Below Deck Mediterranean fans as a crew member on The Wellington. Initially, Pete seemed like he could be a cool cast member for the show, but unfortunately for him, viewers will never really get to see. Peter was recently fired from the show after posting a racially insensitive meme on Instagram. The post and subsequent firing happened so quickly that it’s difficult to tell exactly what the post said. Either way, his time with the network is done and many fans seem to be supportive of the decision to let him go. Peter has

Peter Hunziker, a deckhand on the current season of “Below Deck Mediterranean,” has been fired by Bravo and 51 Minds, the company that produces the show, because of a racist and misogynistic post on his Instagram account.
Bravo’s Instagram posted the news of the firing: “Peter Hunziker of ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ has been terminated for his racist post. Bravo and 51 Minds are editing the show to minimize his appearance on subsequent episodes.”
Hunziker had posted a meme that showed a naked Black woman in chains. A source close to Bravo told Variety that the network learned of the post on Friday, and fired Hunziker immediately.
Hunziker’s firing took place a week after Bravo let go four “Vanderpump Rules” cast members, including original stars Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute, because of racist actions.
On this season of “Below Deck Mediterranean,” which premiered on June 1, Hunziker — self-nicknamed “Party Pete” — has already been accused of sexism.
