Building a home in 100 days is tricky but try doing it as an epic hurricane threatens your build. That’s how HGTV‘s 100 Day Dream Home Season 4 kicks off with concerns that Hurricane Ian could finish the season before it started.
Dream home creators Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt revealed to Showbiz Cheat Sheet that Hurricane Ian was tracking directly toward their first project in the Tampa area this season. The season went on once Ian decided to drop south, devastating Ft. Meyers, but primarily sparing Tampa.
“We kind of dodged a bullet here,” Brian admitted. “The last hurricane that hit, it was supposed to come right over Tampa and that would have just devastated our timeline our show, everything. It did turn down towards Fort Myers.”
Hurricane threatened ‘100 Day Dream Home: Beachfront Hotel’
Even though the hurricane’s path changed, Brian and Mika still felt the impact in other ways.

The good guys always win in the end, and Monday’s Season 2 finale of HGTV competition “Rock the Block” was no exception. While Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt were still letting the big win wash over them, we grabbed the “100 Day Dream Home” stars for a review of their journey from underdogs to champions.
“We had a game plan from the beginning. We stuck to the game plan,” builder Brian Kleinschmidt told TheWrap. “I think our best move was spreading our budget out throughout the house evenly rather than blow it in one space.”
“From the beginning, Brian and I said we’re not going to out-design our competitors,” designer and real estate agent Mika Kleinschmidt added. “I think we actually figured out our design style while we were doing the show.”

The appraisals are in, and the team of Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt have won HGTV’s “Rock the Block” Season 2!
Yes, you read that right. The Kleinschmidts, who did not win a single individual challenge, took the whole damn thing. Their craftsman-style fun and functional home, appraised for $625,000.
Perhaps it was the basement bowling alley. (You also read that right.)
Ok, it definitely wasn’t the mini lanes — at least not from an appraisal standpoint. The Kleinschmidts definitely had the best backyard space, and their double dishwashers, dream laundry room and converted third-car garage might have sealed the deal.
Here’s the logline for the episode you just missed (a safe assumption if you’re here to find out the winner): “After six weeks, a winner gets crowned, a street sign gets named and bragging rights get claimed on the finale of ‘Rock the Block!’ Experts appraise the houses...
